Is anyone able to shed light on Clontibret's MP O'Dowd? Injured/transferred club? Hasn't been on one team sheet for Clontibret in this year's championship. He would have made this a seriously interesting final had he been available.

Yes both gone after 2 defeats each, no need for the final round of games

Mad system Ted

I do love the barbs between the Faughs crowd and the United Parishes XV contingent. To be fair to the latter they have united 18ish parishes against the 5 remaining whom choose to wear blue and white like the great Cavan teams of yore (Tom has been very quiet recently).

It it worth noting too how the Faughs crowd are slowly and some would say slyly building up their numbers on the forum. This is surely the clearest indication yet that the drive for #38 will be leaving the station soon...

Maybe they will start by recruiting Oram, Blackhill and Toome to the Faugh cause and create a 2nd divisional side? Sure what else do Oram have to play for?

Long live Castleblayney hurling I say, the original united parishes team...

Is scotstown contesting a 12 straight final a monaghan record?

Come back to me when the United Parishes come close to emulating your great team of the 70/80s. They did it without any high price transfers. But then sonny you would know nothing about a team that had a stomach for a fight. That was before you earned your high stool."
Well you can't distinguish a parish and a village so when you else this come back.

Is the Donaghmoyne vs Killanny game not now a relegation play off, with the loser going down and the winner playing Aughnamullen in another relegation playoff?

Was in Clontibret on Saturday and Clones on Sunday. Same old same old from Carrick I'm afraid, they are a middle of the road intermediate team based on the last two years. Truagh look very impressive and you'd have to think they will have too much for Magheracloone in the final. The worst thing is if they beat Magheracloone then Carrick will likely win the league. I would say Carrick would be in for a tough year next year but considering Cremartin and Aughnamullen stayed Senior this year then I would say anything is possible.

Two good games in Clones on Sunday, anyone that didn't wear a high vis to get in for free got their moneys worth. Clontibret have been the team of the championship so far, impressive last ten minutes from them on Sunday. Unfortunately, two teams that are probably past their sell by date when you see them calling on Dessie Mone and Jap near the end and Clontibret taking young Hughes off and putting him back on, doesn't say much for the young lads they have on the bench.

Inniskeen took a step backwards this year. It looked last year that they were within touching distance of Scotstown but Sunday was a 2 point hammering for them. Scotstown just in second gear was enough to hold them at arms length. You'd be hoping for an upset in the final as a neutral especially as this might be the last county final we see Monaghan's best ever play in but it's hard to see anything other than a convincing win for Scotstown.

Shocking year for Donaghmoyne, all the minor championships they have won in the last ten years it looked like they were a club on the rise, what has happened to them? Them and Emyvale, something seriously wrong in those clubs.

killany lost the league play offs to decide the worst team in the league. So they would have played who ever finished 2nd last in the championship relegation group but since they have finished in bottom 2 of the championship relegation group then bottom 2 simply go down

"INVESTED" being the key word in the United Parishes. The good old Blues playing by the amateur spirit of our sport. I suppose Donaghmoyne should INVEST in new players also. If you want to get ahead copy the United Parishes plan but make sure you have a population that can €$ustain it.

Watch the Magheracloone V Blayney game and went to the double header in Clones over the weekend.
Magheracloone were the better team and deserved the win, but my God the standard was terrible by both teams.
Both teams missing easy frees, 14 or 15 players behind the ball giving ball away under no pressure.
A big improvement is needed by Magheracloone for the final

Both games in Clones were quite enjoyable
Clontibret done well to squeeze over the line in a game early on that looked like Ballybay were much the better team and would win with a few to spare. McManus not as sharp as normal but still chipped in with 5 frees and a mark.
I taught it was strange that Ballybay never got a free in scoring zone all match even when Hughes when straight through Chris McGuinness back with his knee from one kickout play was waived on.
Ballybay ran out steam in last 10 and Clontibret wer value for the 2 point win.

Second match difference between the teams was goalkeepers, not much between either team out the field, Inniskeen would have been happy with keeping most of Scotstown big players relativity quiet and Scotstown kept Jones and Woods out of the game for most of it.
Keepers played a big part Inniskeen struggled to get kickouts away under alot of pressure while Rory picked out players no problem and chipped in with 2 massive points in the second half.
The only thing i was wondering from this match was in the first half Inniskeen player nipped infront of Scotstown defender and cut out a short kickout, was straight in 1v1 and ref blew up for ball not crossing 20m line, i taught at the time he was wrong and a goal for Inniskeen would have been a massive lift and could have changed hole course of the game. Was the ref right or did he make a blunder to throw up the ball.

Totally agree here the standard of that blayney Marraghaclone game was very poor. And if nothing else it's a reflection of the standard of intermediate as a whole. At times there's always talk of how close intermediate is but the reality is it's not because everyone is as good as each other, it's the fact everyone is as poor as the other which doesn't bode well for teams looking to take the step up into senior. Some of the standard of it is absolutely horrendous no doubt about it.

However that being said I do think blayney are on the right trajectory and will have a big say in the next few years. They took steps forward this year with a style of play but they do really lack a scoring in their forward line with no one standing out at all on a scoring front. However as these younger boys from all there minor teams continue to develop I do see them getting stronger.
Next year is very important tho in this with them needing to move up to senior.

As stated before…parish and villages are different, 4 villages if you can call Knockatallon a village. It would be curious to see the official population figures of the parishes in Monaghan. In primary school football Urbleshanny are not always able to compete Div 1 due to not been big enough. Knockatallon school only has about 25 in it total. Scotstown never had an outside manager until 2013 when Mattie McGleenan came in. Many clubs before had outside managers.

Donaghmoynes 3 x primary schools would be over 400 pupils not to mention those that attend in Carrick

To answer the question… if you keep appointing the same men year in year out and go for sub par coaches and managers and try rub butter into a fat sows behind…. Well you get donaghmoyne

Was at Carrick v Truagh. The standard wasn't great but Truagh by far the better team. Truagh v Maghercloone should be a decent final. Probably be back in Clontibret?

Carrick lacked so much around the field in my opinion. GK couldn't get kickouts away for Carrick leaving them under big pressure. Trying pin point kicks but being cutout. Maybe the wind was worse on the field than it seemed in the stand. O Hanlon didn't look up to his usual self who should be running the show at this level with his ability and experience. Conlon a big age to be still running after a young Truagh team. Truagh were by far the better team loads of running and hard hitting/tackling.

I believe the other semi final was a poor quality affair also going by reports on here. Maghercloone have a good mix of experience and youth to be fair to them so they were probably slight favorites in this encounter. Not sure how Blayney will rate their year. Look forward to the final though both teams should go at it and see who comes out on top.

Senior double header-
Ballybay looked relatively fresh for a team that had extra time the week before but the last 10 mins they did look leggy. I didn't expect this response 7 days later. But they fought well and could feel hard done by. Clontibret edged it and probably were the better team over all. Hughes in the middle was brilliant. Put in a massive shift as well as Boyle at Full back and Lavelle in the second half. Ballybays injuries didn't help their case. Wylie done well on McManus don't think he kicked many from play at all.

Inniskeen were never looking like beating Scotstown. Good to see both Hughes back gracing Clones pitch. Inniskeen have went backways I believe. McEntee will probably move on now and maybe back to his home club which have no management in place. Scotstown have yet to be tested this year which is scary. Making a final without much pressure.

Clontibret broke their hearts in 14 and 19. I remember in 2019 they had banners with '5 in a row' and all made, caravans painted outside clones and what not. They were sure they had it won. They were sniffed out that day. Could they be stopped doing back to back? Clontibret will thrive on this I think but they will need a massive performance and all 18/19 players having their best games. Hopefully we get a good final. Been a while since there has been a good contest.

I am predicting
SENIOR- Clontibret
INTER- Truagh
JUNIOR- Drumhowan

You need to look at the bigger picture when it comes to the Donaghmoyne problem. For a catchment area with their resources at their disposal why have they only contested one senior champion final in 30 years and yo-yoing from senior to intermediate every 3 years within that time. I would say it's a question of poor planning and investment. Up until 5 years ago they were operating the whole club including ladies from one pitch. It must have been an absolute nightmare for any coach to get a time slot. They also didn't have an adaquite floodlighting system or S & C gym. While other clubs moved forward with second pitches, lighting , gyms and walking tracks donaghmoyne where left behind. But in the last 5 years with the right people involved the second and third pitches have been built. They have a new complex built and seem to be heading in the right direction as far as infrastructure is concerned. They are playing catch-up. But when they do get their act together they will be strong position.when you look at the health of their juvenile teams There's no reason why they shouldn't be able to overtake ballybay, latton or inniskeen .
