If Corey is staying, he needs to build a better relationship with the players and bring back a couple of players who walked away this year. He also needs to shake up his backroom team big time. If rumors are to be believed, it wasn't a good dressing room this year and that was definetly translated onto the pitch as the year went on. Monaghan did restore some pride against Galway though and could have won it, only for a a couple of good goal chances missed. Anyway, the target for 2025 has to be a return to Div 1 and at least a quarter final. Who will retire..? Nothing official about McManus yet but assume he will, if not, he's still a good man to spring from the bench if needed. I'd love to see Darren Hughes stay on for another year if fit, he was the best player we had against Cavan until his injury. I think we have another year or two left in O'Connell too. as regards club championship: Senior = Scotstown. (easy enough) Intermediate = Magheraloone Junior = Toome SouthMonMan (Monaghan) - Posts: 144 - 24/07/2024 16:12:18 2561276 Link 0 |
Will be interesting to see if all the old brigade go again.

We might even do the senior and junior double this year…

Would be a great year for the Scotstown, Knocktallon, Tydavnet and Ballinode amalgamation to be fair. Winning a Junior championship should be expected considering Scotstown Juniors have more players available to them than Rockcorry, Killeevan, Oram and Currin have combined. Whatever about winning a junior championship, anything less than an ulster club title will be another miserable failure for this group of players… even with the currin man, this current team wouldn't hold a candle to previous great scotstown teams who were all home grown….

Maybe Scotstown could create a Super League with Errigal Ciaran and some of the Dublin clubs? Don't think ye would be missed...

Scotstown v Corduff in the league semi final tomorrow afternoon. Scotstown are raging hot favourites but it will be interesting to see how Corduff set up tactically. SouthMonMan (Monaghan) - Posts: 144 - 26/07/2024 11:11:50 2561682 Link 0 |
There's no doubt that Corduff will bring their usual approach, they will try to keep it tight, and hope they can hit Scotstown on the break. What Fergal Malone allows and doesn't allow coukd have a huge bearing on the result. And the Scotstown bashing isn't actually Scotstown bashing, but just directed at the their Veteran wind up merchant who belittles what every other club are doing. Admin, this account must surely be in breach of rules? Its obviously a poster using my username to post malicious stuff pretending to be me!

'I caught a few ones'. That's pretty sad 'Tom/veterangaa'. Did you forget that you were using this new account or did you forget that not to hide your identity when replying to a post that referenced you? I must have rattled you by revealing your other 'handle' as you'd say yourself.

Lads, apologies for posting so often on your forum. Generally, I'd prefer to keep the rivalry until the season starts. It's just that we're constantly bombarded with spam from Veterngaa/Tom on our forum and I felt that revealing their identity would quieten him. I'll let him at it for a while. He'll be busy, now that he's added a copy of this account to his ever growing army of 'handles'. KingdomofBreifne (Cavan) - Posts: 160 - 26/07/2024 14:01:08 2561760 Link 1 |

Big win for ballybay last night 222 (UK) - Posts: 812 - 27/07/2024 09:52:00 2561890 Link 0 |
I think every club back in the day are home grown .. today most clubs have had a transfer or 2 in.. our lost recent is a Donegal man marrying a scotstown woman today actually and living here and a man who legally transferred to the club through the parentage by law .. those are facts. You can rant and rave all you want on the high stool Mick like a broken record. Move on. Great win for Ballybay and fascinating game today. veterngaa (Monaghan) - Posts: 684 - 27/07/2024 12:01:30 2561908 Link 0 |
And in the end armagh took Sam home again. 222 (UK) - Posts: 812 - 29/07/2024 08:30:14 2562434 Link 0 |
Fair play to Armagh.. after all the knocks and bad luck over the past 10 years, they got payback in spades yesterday. Although delighted for Armagh, at the end of the game you can't help but feel disappointed that we never reached an All-Ireland final in our so called "golden" period. Hopefully our day will come. I believe in the next 2 years, its anyones championship.. Dublin and Kerry are well back into the pack now, Mayo are rebuilding, Tyrone are rebuilding, Galway are at the standard and Donegal and Derry will be serious contenders next year. Armagh will probably see some retirements of their old guard now and will have a hangover for a year or two. Knowing Monaghan's luck, we'll have built a good team again in 2-3 years only for the likes of Tyrone to be All-Ireland contenders again, who we can never get past in Croke Park. Anyway.. looking forward to 2025 already. SouthMonMan (Monaghan) - Posts: 144 - 29/07/2024 09:49:08 2562467 Link 0 |
