Mayo had a very strong side out against Westmeath-most of their u20s and B panel played against Galway on sat. evening

Can you elaborate on the Mayo squad.
Below is the 21 players who played v Kerry in 2022 QF
6 of these started v Galway. 1 is gone off panel, 1 retired and 1 in Austrailia.
Of the remaining 12 I would be very interested in knowing how many played v Westmeath?

Rob Hennelly; Lee Keegan, Oisín Mullin, Enda Hession; Paddy Durcan, Stephen Coen, Eoghan McLaughlin; Aidan O'Shea, Matthew Ruane; Jordan Flynn, Diarmuid O'Connor, Conor Loftus; Kevin McLoughlin, Jack Carney, Cillian O'Connor
Subs: James Carr for Jack Carney (ht), Fergal Boland for Conor Loftus (52), Aidan Orme for Kevin McLoughlin (58), Padraig O'Hora for Aidan O'Shea (64), Jason Doherty for Cillian O'Connor (70), Paul Towey for Aidan Orme (73)

Just on this - I think Westmeath has upped its social media in recent times. Don't know if any ever read this - But lads would you pay the auld €119 for the Canva you are using? It had the watermarks on to stop people from stealing and using it FFS. Check out the most recent team sheets for those wanting to see them. Walsh Cup game on 8th Jan had them on.

Not posted on here in years so just a Big Up Ger Egan on his retirement, the county owes him nothing.

any word on when the ACFL are back? assuming next month as most clubs are back training the last couple weeks already, so much for the split season!

split season is for championship. And it's a hell of an improvement on the days when the 1st round of groups was in late April - creating a 6 month championship season where players needed to peak multiple times.
league usually starts last weekend of February, or thereabouts. I'm sure players are looking forward to it; most will have been inactive for at least 5 months at that stage.

Football leagues starting on weekend of 18th-19th Feb with possibility of opening matches on Friday 17th for clubs with floodlights, presume the likes of The Downs, Kinnegad, Loman's, Tubberclair could be at home on the Friday, three rounds of football leagues before first round of hurling which is on the 11-12 March.

Wow that's very soon - a month's time. I guess the sooner they get going the less hassle there is later on in the competitions. Pitches not in great nick at the moment, hopefully weather picks up in February. Is there any change to the competition formats - league or championship ?

Surely there should be word of when leagues are back by now.
A lot of counties even have dates for championship games out by now (meath), chance are players won't know championship dates until April may
How are players supposed to plan their lives

Football league is back weekend of 17th-19th of Feb with 3 weekends in a row and then every second weekend after that.

Different options for championship depending on county team progress. Could begin as early as 24th June or as late as 22nd July with a couple of in between start dates too. Whichever date it starts the QFs are scheduled for early September and the plan is to use midweek games to catch up if it's one of the later start dates

Westmeath hurlers have guaranteed games until 28th of May, but I see that the All Ireland hurling relegation final isn't until the 7th of July, surely this can't be right or is this relegation final only if Kerry win and have to play a Munster team?
Westmeath footballers guaranteed games until 17/18 of June in the all Ireland round robin groups as the 2022 Tailteann cup winners.
Surely westmeath county board could have the foresight to plan the seasons fixtures off the 18th of June being the day the county season is over

I heard the panel was cut last week, Heard of a few players being dropped.

Looking forward to this weekend. Westmeath seem to be moving well by all accounts. They have had two challenge games in this last 2 weeks against two top 6 teams in the country.

Goals for this season should be:

To get out of Div 3 in the league - Our main threats are Cavan and Down - Down seem to be flying under new management during pre season. I can see Down finishing top and it will be between us and Cavan for second. This weekends game is massive.

Our championship goal should be to get to a Leinster final and hopefully get out of the group stage in the All Ireland group stage. This will mean we have broke into the top 12 teams in the country.

Agree with you but Division 3 is full of potential pitfalls, Longford are clearly moving well under Paddy Christie, lots of players back on their panel, we go to Pearse Park in round 2, a tough place to go, Fermanagh posed us problems last year, can see Offaly and Antrim struggling to stay up but both under new managers and that could give them a boost. Tipperary capable of anything. 9-10 points could secure promotion as I don't see any side winning 6-7 games.
