Great semi final yesterday. Tyrellspass had their chances that's for sure but at one stage it looked like every Downs attack would produce a goal.

Lomans have a very different team at the moment than the group stage game against The Downs. I also noticed Paddy Dowdall on the bench for Lomans on Saturday. Fola on the bench. I'm not sure we've even seen a full strength Lomans team yet. Will they produce the performance of the championship in the final? I'm starting to think so.

Watched all the games this week on the Tv. Shandonagh fortunate to get the win, milltown will be kicking themselves. Milltown played very defensive with playing 8 defenders at a time. Once they brought in there subs they were much better, shandonagh maybe had that bit of experience in extra time.
Tubberclare brushed the bridge aside by 7 points a big statement made. A really good balanced team and are yet to concede a goal so far this year. Commentators seemed to talk up all the st.marys players all throughout the game, I thought it was a very one sided commentary, maybe they are from that neck of the woods.

Killucan gave lomans plenty of it in the first half but ran out of steam. The downs are also very balanced but will need all there forwards to step up if going to beat lomans.

Hurling this Sunday, Senior football the following Sunday. U17, junior and intermediate football probably on over the same weekend - 2 on the Sat and 1 before senior.

What game should go before the Senior final? Any word of the u17 final being the curtain raiser?

The under 17 hurling final precedes senior hurling final, the same will apply to under 17 football, should be a decent crowd in for both minor games with Castletown in both hurling finals and Loman's in both football finals. Tubberclair likely to travel in big numbers too appearing in their first minor final in over 30 years and on a huge weekend for the club. Both minor and senior finals in both codes promise to be closely contested affairs based on form.

Was anybody at the intermediate semi finals? I saw TC-RB, thought TC were good, bolstered by McCabe in the middle who strikes me as a sea of calm. Bringing on 18 sealed result. Felt sorry for the Iarmhi TV commentators as it sounded like they had money on Rochfortbridge! Hard to know who will win Final now, it will be youth of TC versus experience of Shandonagh. Some might say old dog for the hard road but I suspect the exuberance of youth may have the upper hand going in. Only time will tell. Best of luck to both clubs

They might put the U17 football final with Intermediate Final as tubberclair involved in both. But revenue also.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Tubberclair defeated Mullingar Shamrocks in the 2007 Minor Final and also defeated Castledaly in the 2000 Final although Premier Championships were a thing back then? I'd imagine The Downs are bound to have a huge backing considering it's 15+ years since they've reached a decider.

Not sure they'll do this as surely the Junior Final will be before intermediate. Could have the 3 the one day but I doubt it.

Exactly , the premier championship with amalgamations was the top competition. Tubberclair would have been Shannon Gaels with Maryland and Tang. Not sure if they ever won minor.
17 years since The Downs won, and that day might have been the last time Lomans won the minor I think?

Shannon Gales won the minor championship in 1998. They defeated Garrycastle in the final. I think Shannon Gales also won the U - 16 championship in that same year. A lot of this group won intermediate medals with Tubberclair in 2002 and 2009. Tubberclair won the Div 1minor club championship in 2007. They defeated Mullingar Shamrocks in the final . Tubberclair were the first winners of the Darren Price cup in 2007. In 2011 Tubberclair won the minor league Div 1 . A feat they repeated this year. Two years ago in 2020 Tubberclair won the the U -15 and minor Div 2 titles . Last year they won the u- 15 Div 1. There minors lost in the Div 1 semi final. Tubberclair have been in three of the last four minor Div 1 semi finals. On another point just one of the 2007 minor team was part of the intermediate panel last Sunday. On a final point the starting fifteen in the minor and intermediate games involved twenty nine families. The exception was brothers Tom and Fred Kelleher on the intermediate team. Best wishes to Tubberclair in both finals .

Brillant stats loughree.

Tubberclair won the u21 championship in 2014 beating Garrycastle. All these lads are now in their prime and range from the ages 26-29. 6 of them that played that u21 final played last Sunday.

Kevin Fagan, Jason McHugh, Cathal Tighe, Oisin Donohue, Robbie Curley and Rory Delaney. They also have Alan Coffey that was on this u21 team that is out inured at the moment.

Going down to Junior 2 years ago really help them bring through young players who are now the spine of the team.

With Tubberclair's population and their brilliant youth set up I can see them having a long stay in the senior grade if they can win the Final.

Matthew Whittaker is one for the future for our inter county team. He's a great talent. Interesting fact his Dad came on as a substitute last Sunday and was the only player they used that was over 30 years of age.

Going down to junior worked out in hindsight , as they bounced straight back up. Could so easily have lost that final to Lomans though.
I think whoever wins the final will be well able to compete in senior section B next year. If Tubberclair then will add to the local derbies with Athlone, Garrycastle, Tang, and Moate already in that group.

Peter Tormey is a busy man and building up an interesting coaching cv. Still playing for Bun who are preparing for a county junior final, he's coach to the Rhode senior footballers and also saw him on the line with Rochfortbridge at the weekend. Believe he was also doing a bit with a Galway club as well as a selector with Roscommon earlier this year.

I think he'll get the nod from Dessie, they work and coach together in Moate school too. His brother is a PT/S&C coach too, but I think he emigrated. That's a lot of coaching commitments never mind playing. I'd imagine he'd have to drop most of them if he's in the Westmeath picture.

I'd imagine they'll also stay with the same S&C team (wolfhound) for continuity. Tbf to the squad I think their conditioning and power have developed over Jack's term so they must be doing something right. Is wolfhound looking after the hurlers as well?
