Replying To OverTheHill85: "ACFL kicking off this weekend; who are the frontrunners? Garrycastle and Kinnegad you would imagine as they have the least involvement on county panels, Athlone are apparently depleted due to travelling for the early rounds, St. Loman's should be strong as the likes of Jack Geoghegan isn't in with the county, Tubberclair may be without a lot due to a large number on the U20s panel and another 3/4 on the senior panel. In Division 2 you'd think maybe Tang or Milltown, Shandonagh without Molloy, Treanor and Scahill, Miltownpass without Brandon Kelly and Duncan presumably gone again. Tyrrellspass I think are also down in Div 2 so they'll no doubt be looking tonce straight back up and should have the likes of Gonoud available."
Garrycastle have Alex gardiner back and a strong group of young lads in there first year at adult. I would tip Garrycastle to win Division 1 this year and Shamrocks should go well with new manager David Martin. Kinnegad have been the best league team for a number of years now but from talking to one of there players things will be different this year as are struggling badly with injuries.
Replying To Claretandblue: "The negativity on this forum is staggering, far worse than on any other county forum, meant to be a place to discuss and share info on matters relating to Westmeath Gaa in all four codes, that's no longer the case as a few posters, approx 5-6 have decided to use it to vent at all and sundry, the recent posts by some lads wouldn't be uttered in a public forum as they'd be ridiculed and rightly so, pity as quite a few posters put up useful and interesting info and opinions but the few bitter and angry ones are like Trump's supporters, shout loudly and ignore any facts."
Come on now . There are great people invovled in the county board and I admire anyone who gives up there free time to volunteer but you have to admit yourself they got this horribly wrong. The most positive and supportive would the format change makes absolutely no sense.

Gardiner being back with the new scoring rules will be a serious asset. Add in two or three strong Marist forwards coming through and, with the in-house management they've got, they could easily be the dark horses of this championship. Kinnegad will be busy, especially with them being in both D1 and D2 for the first year. getting hit with injuries or lads away emigrating, it could be a challenge for them.
How are we fixed for the game vs Fermanagh this weekend? Very important to get 2 points and get back to winning ways imo. If we can win our 2 remaining home games and one of the 2 away games, it would put us in a great position to compete for promotion. Tadgh Baker went off injured at the weekend, any other injury worries? Does anyone know is Niall Mitchell with the footballers this year? Would be good to see him tried out around the middle of the field if so.

Reckon McCartan, Wallace and Guerin is our best half-back line right now. Baker's improving all the time, but that line has serious legs and attacking threat. Still, if Baker's fit he's a great option to bring on late to close it out.
