Brilliant performance from Coyne, even better than the Loman's game. Shamrocks will need him for The Downs.

If Kinnegad win tomorrow, we will have all 4 teams in the senior semi finals from the North side of the County. Then it may be time for a root and branch review of the structures within the Clubs from the South. It was the same last year, they are falling behind.

Time is up when the ref blows the final whistle is the rule. You haven't managed to explain why GC were the better team??

Replying To Blackjack:  "Shamrocks a truly phenomenal club. Universally popular and do things right and win and lose fairly.
But today the better team lost the match. Time was up when Brian Guerin scored."
Thats twice you've claimed the better team lost. Please explain how were Garrycastle the better team? What have you against Shamrocks? It was a MINIMUM of 4 minutes added time. There were plenty of stoppages within that 4 minutes so referee entitled to add on whatever he feels necessary. Absolute sickener for Garrycastle but only themselves to blame, should have seen it out after last point. Plenty of mistakes but a really entertaining game.

Replying To Claretandblue:  "There is no hooter in club matches so not sure relevance of comment. GC have had a fine year and unlucky today but not even your fellow GC supporters would argue ye were better team. It was always tight, Shamrocks looked winners when leading by 4 but ye came back well. It was a proper contest."
As I said previously this year has been a huge success for garrycastle already at the start I would've taken avoiding relegation along with most in the club fair play to shamrocks played to the whistle and won fair and square not up to them to flow the full time whistle cracking finish from guerin aswell to win though Shane ormsby was outstanding also

Two tough ones to call today; Wallace vs Kelly/Coyne, really difficult to call and could go either way.

Kinnegad probably more rounded than Caulry but Baker/McCormack are way ahead of what Kinnegad have up front and that could prove the difference.

Indeed, it would be a major shock if Caulry don't win today.

Not so sure we should use penalty shootouts for relegation from a grade

Agree, should be a replay after extra time, getting relegated is worse than losing a county final, too much pressure on penalty takers.

Very tough way to be relegated. Definitely should be a replay rather than penalties

A quite unbelievable result, but if Caulry had Senan "the next John Heslin" and McCormack they would have won the game.

Fair point but doubt the Castletown lads would relish a replay, they've already lost two weeks to the footballers, another week wouldn't go down well

They had 6 games and extra time to avoid relegation. It's not just penalties

Fair play to Kinnegad for overcoming such huge odds and ending this Caulry sides unrelenting grip on the Flanagan Cup. Real David Goliath stuff.

To be fair, I feel for them. They beat Tang already and were just unfortunate that Tang got to play Garrycastle last

Yeah, not a great look. Even at minor level the matchups were nearly identical, with Shandonagh, Downs, Lomans, and Shamrocks all reaching the semi-finals. The U20s was fairly similar too, apart from that prominent Tubberclair side which has been very successful at underage and will probably go into the U20 final as favourites.

Whatever anyone thinks of penalties deciding games or not there's no doubt the one thing that came out of the relegation final in Ballymore today was drama and plenty of it. Tang were well in control leading 0-6 to 0-3 after scoring a couple of two pointers when they had a man shown a straight red card around 20 minutes in. At this point you were expecting Tang to fall apart like they had done previously in this championship when in winning positions but they managed to go in leading by three at the break 0-8 to 0-5 thanks to another excellent two pointer. Malachys couldn't pull away in the second half and every time they'd go up and score Tang would work their way back with scores and crucially twice they were two pointers.then in the final 10 minutes Malachys got a burst scoring the last 5 points of the game to bring it to extra time the equaliser being 6 minutes into injury time. Malachys got in for a couple of goal chances and some excellent goal line defending by full back Duncan and one excellent point blank save by Tang keeper Coughlan denied Malachys. Tang were reduced to 13 for the last couple of minutes with another sending off for a second yellow but after some scrambling defence by Tang the final whistle blew and extra time was on the cards. Confusion set in however and there was a good 20-25 minute delay between the end of the game and start of extra time as the officials tried to figure out how many players could take to the field for extra time. Tang appeared to be ready to go with 14 on the pitch as this appeared to be what they were told before then being told they could only have 13 on the pitch. The match eventually restarted with Malachys having a 2 man advantage and it showed as they dominated the first half of extra time to lead by 5 points thanks mainly to the boot of Morgan Gavigan who kicked an excellent two point free just before the break after he kicked another from play. Tang looked out on their feet at this stage with the numerical disadvantage coming to haunt them but they got a burst in the final 5 minutes scoring 1-2 without reply from the impressive Jack Keenan bringing the match to penalties. Tang who thought they were dead and buried 10 minutes previously like Malachys who thought they were gone with 10 minutes of normal time remaining now had a penalty shootout to decide their fate. Malachys swapped their keeper for the shootout taking Buddha out of the goals for and he lined up as one of the penalty takers himself but never got the chance to take one. Owen Coughlan was the hero for Tang, scoring the first penalty himself before going on to save 3 out of the 4 spot kicks he faced in the shootout. It really was a case of "The Great Escape" for Tang after losing the first 4 Championship games before overturning Garrycastle last week to give them hope. Considering the number of players they lost this year and the low numbers they have to pick from it was a massive achievement to stay senior.

I think any team that loses 5 matches deserve to be relegated to be honest.
