Replying To jamsie:  "It's out of their hands. But , if they beat Athlone then the odds are in their favour. They'll qualify if their in a 3 way tie with Shamrocks and Tyrrellspass."
Yes if C/K beat Athlone, the only result I think that could stop them getting to a quarter is Mullingar beating the Downs and lomans beating Tyrellspass as Tyrellspass have them on the head to head.

Not good seeing a 1st team side not fielding with Ballycomoyle, when was the last time this happened?

The Irish Times reporting that Mark McHugh will be be put forward for ratification at Tuesday night's County Board meeting. Great news if accurate. Some continuity and won't be starting from scratch.

Mark McHugh in. In fairness county board moved fairly quick on this one. Interesting to see his backroom team

You're very lucky to have Mark McHugh. A very astute coach who is obsessive about the game. I was actually hoping he would join Jim's backroom team for next year. I'm sure McCabe tried to take him to Cavan as well.

Replying To iarmhiabu:  "Can we hand the trophy out to The Downs now? St Loman's lose to Shamrocks. Mother of God."
Mother of God… don't get me wrong, Shamrocks were poor against Kinnegad, but look at the amount of key forwards Lomans have lost and the number of debutants they've had this season. And that's without Heslin too, who rescued them with a draw against Athlone. They're clearly a side in transition. Bit harsh on Shamrocks as well, who do have a few quality players and seem to have found a new settled keeper that was superb for them at the weekend.

Any updates on Cian Rainey? A disgrace that took an hour for an ambulance to come from Naas considering Tullamore, and Mullingar in closer proximity to Killucan and an air ambulance service operating out of Athlone barracks.

Think he is ok as his club said he was discharged from hospital that evening.
Strange it took 1 hr for an ambulance.

Strange how wrong we seem to have got it at minor level the last 10 years, a guy goes for the job last year with a strong backroom team and doesnt get it but fast forward 12 months and now is deemed to have meet the criteria, same fellas in circulation all the time. Strong minor team last year and was there any review into the year and learnings from it. My nephew played on last years panel and was around the team the year before and he said the school set up is streets ahead of both of them minor set ups.

I think McHugh is a potentially good appointment; has played at a high level, and coach at a high level since. I think the biggest thing now is whether he holds on to the older brigade or brings through younger players, we are in Division 3 so I really hope we see 5/6 new faces given an opportunity. If not we are probably looking at short term gain.

St Loman's problems look to be exacerbated by the retirement of Peter Foy. He will be a big miss for them.

There isn't much of an older brigade.
20 players played the Leinster championship game against Kildare. Only 4 over 30 I make it? And one of them is a selector now, so he's already gone as a player. 2 others are Connellan and Loughlin , who have loads more to give.

Do you realise how many new faces McCabe and McHugh introduced this year??

Luke will need some support up front. Brandon Kelly should be ready to step up anyways. Having Duncan back will be a big boost also.

I do yes; but I feel there's more needed. I think many of those were due to the retirements.

What's going on at St. Loman's?

There are serious questions being asked around the club lately. Why didn't John Heslin play the game against Shamrocks? And what's the story with Fionn O'Hara?

For a club that's reached 10 county finals in a row, it's been an incredible decade of success. But now, faced with a bit of adversity for the first time in years, things seem to be unraveling.

Was speaking to a Tyrone person who thinks the Daly and Beattie are excellent additions to our backroom team. Both have worked together in Tyrone and Cavan.

John Heslin was injured against Shamrocks.
