The Downs squad looks really strong, it would be a surprise if they don't win it this year to be honest. They have everyone apart from Charlie Drumm. I wouldn't mind the jersey numbers for today, Niall Mitchell will play inside and Lynam will start even though he's not listed. iarmhiabu (Westmeath) - Posts: 182 - 26/07/2025 15:51:02 2628119 Link 0 |
Interesting to see no O'Reilly listed for Rosemount either; he looked excellent for CTG last week so maybe he's decided to put his lot in with them for the summer; McCartan and Lynam won't feature this weekend for their clubs. Shandonagh look strong and seem to have retained their squad for 2025; Tom Molloy listed as a selector and not on the match day squad, can anyone shed light on that.

Lomans have strengh and depth and its crazy to be writing them off at this stage. Kinnegad have been on a journey over the last couple of years. The new rules will have a impact and much depends on who adjusts and who does not. BarrRst (Westmeath) - Posts: 41 - 26/07/2025 16:35:51 2628126 Link 0 |
Charlie Drumm is back

Great comeback from lomans down to 14 for the second half and eight down with 10 minutes left with so many absenteees. However Athlone will be kicking themsleves. That point could be crucial Bluelake (Westmeath) - Posts: 286 - 26/07/2025 18:45:27 2628140 Link 0 |
Shane Dempsey had enough straightforward chances in that game to score nearly 16 points himself Athlone definitely should have won it

Loman's showed great character to get something from that game, Foy let the team down again. What's up with Sam? Considering all the players missing, that was an excellent result for St Loman's. Athlone must be kicking themselves. The Downs were good, but Kinnegad never laid a glove on them. The Downs players were allowed walk through for 3 goals, could have been 6 or 7 goals. People giving out about how defensive Kinnegad were can see why now. The new rules is exposing teams. And Shamrocks smashed the lights out of Tyrrellspass, no surprise there. iarmhiabu (Westmeath) - Posts: 182 - 26/07/2025 21:51:44 2628175 Link 0 |
Loman's were missing so many regular starters, some will return for next round, others won't, missing Fola, Ronan O' T, two McCartans, TJ Cox, Fionn O' Hara, David Whelan. John Heslin's accuracy from placed balls was vital but Athlone collapsed in last five mins. The Downs looked awesome in second game, missing Lynam and Drumm but totally outplayed Kinnegad, a twelve point winning margin could have been 17-18, hard to see any side beating them.
