Can someone explain how Tyrrellspass are 7/1 and Athlone 33/1. The Downs were 7/2 last week so money has come for them. The Downs are certs to win the championship before a ball is kicked? Dangerous talk but I find it interesting,. Do the bookies know something we dont? . People that are opposed to gambling odds being posted on forums dont have to comment.

Senior
A lot of talk of st lomans demise this year and personally think they'll will find it tough with all their losses from the panel , but are people sleeping on kinnegad, the downs are champions elect for a lot of people and understandably with good reason but I think kinnegad will have a huge say on how far out the n4 the Flanagan cup will travel … st lomans worthy champions and great for so long are they heading for transition , shamrocks seem to be coming again maybe a year or so too soon …. Can athlone or Garrycastle mount a serious challenge … I don't see anyone else challenging for the prize come October than the downs and kinnegad …. Best of luck to all teams and management
Prediction : The Downs
Intermediate
Tubberclair if they can keep Whittaker fit I can't see anyone really challenging them they are a good young side and with the right attitude they could go on to challenge for senior honours in the coming years , shandonagh milltown milltownpass rosemount kilbeggan all capable of putting winning runs together also , the toughest championship to win of them all in my opinion is the intermediate grade
Prediction : Tubberclair

Junior
I think they'll sole junior teams will again battle it out at Joseph's balynacarrigy ballinagore bunbrosna all capable while of the 2nd sides of st lomans shamrocks the downs kinnegad , i think shamrocks and kinnegad will be best placed to mount a serious challenge
Prediction : st Joseph's

Best of luck to all players management and coaches its great to have our club championships back and I look forward to watching some quality games from here until October

The Downs squad looks really strong, it would be a surprise if they don't win it this year to be honest. They have everyone apart from Charlie Drumm. I wouldn't mind the jersey numbers for today, Niall Mitchell will play inside and Lynam will start even though he's not listed.

Interesting to see no O'Reilly listed for Rosemount either; he looked excellent for CTG last week so maybe he's decided to put his lot in with them for the summer; McCartan and Lynam won't feature this weekend for their clubs. Shandonagh look strong and seem to have retained their squad for 2025; Tom Molloy listed as a selector and not on the match day squad, can anyone shed light on that.

Lomans have strengh and depth and its crazy to be writing them off at this stage. Kinnegad have been on a journey over the last couple of years. The new rules will have a impact and much depends on who adjusts and who does not.
The inter county chamioship has shown the new rules impact, Meath got to a championship semi final having in effect lost to Westmeath at the end of a game and going on to win by ignoring the hooter and game end. Such are the narrow margins involved.

Great comeback from lomans down to 14 for the second half and eight down with 10 minutes left with so many absenteees. However Athlone will be kicking themsleves. That point could be crucial

Shane Dempsey had enough straightforward chances in that game to score nearly 16 points himself Athlone definitely should have won it

Loman's showed great character to get something from that game, Foy let the team down again. What's up with Sam? Considering all the players missing, that was an excellent result for St Loman's. Athlone must be kicking themselves.

The Downs were good, but Kinnegad never laid a glove on them. The Downs players were allowed walk through for 3 goals, could have been 6 or 7 goals. People giving out about how defensive Kinnegad were can see why now. The new rules is exposing teams.

And Shamrocks smashed the lights out of Tyrrellspass, no surprise there.

Loman's were missing so many regular starters, some will return for next round, others won't, missing Fola, Ronan O' T, two McCartans, TJ Cox, Fionn O' Hara, David Whelan. John Heslin's accuracy from placed balls was vital but Athlone collapsed in last five mins. The Downs looked awesome in second game, missing Lynam and Drumm but totally outplayed Kinnegad, a twelve point winning margin could have been 17-18, hard to see any side beating them.
