Replying To PowellJohn3:  "CFCW to win an Intermediate championship next year? 130 players under 12 wont be eligible for over 6-7 years, They had a great team 12 years ago when they won the intermediate but were knocking on the door that time for 3 or 4 seasons. The last 10 years they havent done anything whatsoever in Intermediate. The last teams to win Junior and then go up and win intermediate were Moate winners in 2020 and won the Junior in 2014? then Caulry winners in 2014 and won the junior in 2009? it definitely takes a lot of time to make it happen.

When was the last time an intermediate team went up and won a senior i think it was Garrycastle in 1997 won it in 01? its unheard of over the last 30-40 years before that Castledaly, both had a serious crop of players coming in a wave."
CFCW winning the intermediate next year might seem a little far fetched however I do think they would be a match for any of the teams if they can get the balance right. 3/4 of the CFCW players are playing hurling with Ringtown, Pollard and the Gaels. Malachys and Castletown have shown it can be done but CFCW having players with three different hurling clubs is more complex. They had players playing hurling for four counties this year, Westmeath, Longford, Cavan and Warwickshire which is unsual too. I wonder how many meaningful sessions did they have together and they barely broke a sweat to win the junior championship. Theyre certainly a lot stronger from three years ago with plenty of lads in there early 20s like Mark Cunningham, Conor Gaffney, Luke Moore and Darragh Mc Cormack only getting stronger.

Why is the penalties such an issue now ? Is it just because st lomans won ? Because I don't think that there would have been as much uproar if the downs had won …. I don't get the hatred for st lomans there a fantastic team and 10 county finals in a row suggest that's …. The downs are a great team and it was a cruel way to lose but like I've said already world cups have been won and lost on penalties it is what it is how many replays do people want or is it a case of play till st lomans lose ? Let's credit two great teams and clubs and I'm delighted and already can't wait for the national league because the last 2 weeks has made me realise Westmeath GAA is in a better place than we all think

U14 Div1 Final
St. Lomans v Lilliput Gaels
26th Oct @ 12:45
Venue: The Downs

U14 Div6 SF
Maryland-Tang V Lilliput Gaels
26th Oct @ 12:45
Venue: Tang

Implication of the recent objection.
Hard to believe Lilliput Gaels are being asked to play two games at the same time on Saturday. First time that Lilliput Gaels have reached a Div1 Final at any age grade and half the panel can't be there.

Heard that a request was made to play the games at the same time and venue (Shandonagh) so parents and supporters would at least be in the same grounds.
Maryland-Tang refused to give up home advantage!

Was it not those that have refused to give up home advantage who complained in the first place, regarding games at the same time. Correct me if I'm wrong.

They have a home semi final. Why would Maryland Tang & Company give up home advantage?

I agree quite unfair that both teams playing at same time however question I would like answered is why an amalgamation club has two teams at the same age? If they have 30+ players surely the clubs are able to field be themselves? Atleast one of the clubs should be able to field by themselves!

I'll correct you on your mistake: An implication of the rules set out at the start of the year by the County board and agreed by all clubs, not of any objection.

As previous poster explained so that the coaches and parents of Lilliput aren't forced to make a difficult choice between which match to attend. There are likely to be siblings on both teams so a parent will miss the club's first ever division one final. These two Lilliput teams train together, all part of one squad and yet forced to play in venues 25 miles apart.

Hard to believe that when Maryland- Tang were set up there focus was wining Division 1 finals. Look at where they are now Division 6 and going nowhere I can see a split coming again it's going on with Rosemount and Castledaly also amalgamating teams never really works long term

Do you not think that a parent should have the opportunity to see their child play in a county final?

Seems like quite a harsh comment, they like other teams had an era where they were competing at Division 1 and that doesn't tend to last forever for any club. Two small rural parishes with low numbers who both have been competing at senior level over the last number of years. Not a bad return in my opinion, I think they were in a Minor Division 1 final in 2018 of which many now form the Tang team.

I understand the situation but it's Maryland Tang & Company who you're trying to deal with here. It's unfortunate for Lilliput. Maryland & Tang are more interested in getting one over the county board.

It happens all the time where parents are forced to pick one game over the other, definitely if you have a son and daughter you'll know all about it.

Completely unnecessary dig there at a small rural club doing their best. Lots of great work being done in small clubs such as this throughout the county where numbers are low and resources are limited. The club you mention has been in numerous Division 1 finals over the years and have contributed players to underage county team's successes in the past, they'll come again. For some small rural clubs just fielding teams is success and progress, "going nowhere" as you put it is being disrespectful. I suppose you're from a big town club with huge numbers, you wouldn't understand.
