Lomans the front runners the only team to challenge them are the Downs, Kinnegad look stale and have no fire power, Tpass had a big win was Ger Egan back playing with them ? makes them a better team straight away and Athlone are doing pretty well, Mulligan a big loss as i dont know if they have the match ups on the big teams. Caulry do not have the team they had last year and are weak in areas, senan baker not firing at all over the first 3 games. Shamrocks are moving nicely through the paces and navigating pretty well with cillian Daly back there at full strength for the first time in a few years it looks. Moate vs Shandonagh in a relagtion play off, surpised how bad Moate are i watched them vs Malachys and Malachys bullied them in areas, there a young side without much physicality. Shandonagh vs Malachys will be a tough one to call 2. Intermediate: Garrycastle doing what they have to without being brilliant but getting the job done each round, there surely favorite's now, there lessen known players are playing well. Milltown seem to be firing on all cylinders since the first game and have a very solid 13-15 players, there next game vs garrycastle will be an exciting watch. Rosemount had 2 good wins, David o reilly a loss at the weekend as is a big presence at midfield, they werent at the races vs Garrycastle from reports but 1 more point will get them through. Miltownpass struggled to get over a depleted Tubberclair which have seem to be hit hard with injuries missing a lot of mainstay players and still scored 19 points and lost. Castledaly look certain to drop to B grade have been in games until 40 minutes but just dont have the squad to compete. The B group have had a few surprises and is heating up, Maryland got a must win and takes the pressure off, Wallace is winning games on his own for Multy, St. marys, Ballymore and kilbeggan all in the hunt for that 2nd spot with Bal looking like they will drop to Junior. Junior is shaping up as expected.

In reality, both have been so poor they should both go down.

Good analysis there with only one thing I'd quibble with, Ballymore in hunt for 2nd spot in section B? I think they only have 1 point after three games, don't think they can qualify as Multy have six and Kilbeggan five and the bridge 4, either Kilbeggan or the bridge will get to 6 after they play each other.

Things shaping up nicely after round 3, some groups and grades more clear cut than others and lots of positions still to play for.
Senior Lomans a shoo in for the first semi final spot, seem well within their comfort zone thus far. Lots of possible permutations for who might come second, it's certain that Athlone, Tyrrellspass and Kinnegad will all qualify, I reckon the winner of Athlone Tyrellspass will snatch second and at the moment leaning to Tyrellspass. Shamrocks and the Downs nicely poised in section B, it would take a big slip up for either not to make it, although a 3 way points tie with Killucan not off the cards, don't think Killucan will have enough for the Downs to force this though. Tang to section B and Shandonagh who have been shocking will be back intermediate, Moate have been very disappointing also.
Intermediate Top 4 as it stands in section A will qualify for knockout, Garrycastle will definitely make a semi spot, Milltown have 2 very tough cracks at the whip to make it, I think they'll scrape one of them, but if they fail to beat Garrycastle it'll be a shootout with Rosemount for the second spot. Section B and Multy having a huge year. Mathematically it's 3 for 2 places but really 2 for 1 as Multy will progress to the quarters, winner of Rochfortbridge and Kilbeggan to join them, I fancy Rochfortbridge, Kilbeggan having a great year but second spot a bridge too far, pardon the pun. Castledaly for section B and Ballynacargy for relegation, unless either can seriously turn the tide on a dreadful year to date for both.
Junior Section A as straightforward as it gets, Lomans, Shamrocks, the Downs, Kinnegad in that order. Section B has a lot more permutations possible. Joseph's will certainly top the group, CFCW will definitely qualify and more than likely take second spot. Hereafter difficult to predict, 3 for 2 with Paul's, Bun and Ballycomoyle. Paul's have both the others left to play and they're the crucial games, a very poor result against Moate could ultimately come back to haunt Paul's. Not beyond the realms of possibility of a 3 way tie on points but it's more or less in Paul's hands and they should qualify, possibly with Bun, very hard to call, Ballycomoyle staged a bit of a kick with a win the last day. If Paul's win the next day it's all decided, if not then a very interesting final round. One thing I'd say though is that 8 out of 12 teams qualifying for knockouts after group stages is too many and dilutes the quality of the next stage and the competition as a whole. Moate to be relegated to Junior 2. Ballinagore back to Junior 1 with little fuss.

Replying To Bluelake: "There are rumours that Mickey Harte is a runner for the manager gig. Some eve saying he was in the park on Sunday. Please tell me this isn't true" I think this would be a great appointment. Look at what he did in Louth to get the ball going for where they are now. Even with Derry he was never going to be fully welcomed as a Tyrone man but he won a National League. I think he could have a similar impact to what Paidi did here and would be the sort of manager that would convince a few of our players to delay retirement if that's what they are thinking which we believe many are. We need more than anything to stay in Division 2 next year and be back playing All Ireland Championship football if we are to continue our development. Relegation next year and we mightn't see above division 3 and Tailteann Cup again for years.
I don't however think there is any truth to this and I don't believe he was in the park on Sunday.

Examiner have John Keane, Andy Moran and Lar Wall as three potential candidates. If it was to be one of those three, who would we want?

I think Moran did a good job with Leitrim. He's used to high standards and I would like to think he can bring some of those to the group. He's also high profile with plenty of good contacts so theres a better chance of putting a good backroom team together. I'd go for Lar ahead of John based on management experience. I think John is more of a coach but that's not to say he couldn't do a good job as manager.

I think Andy Moran would be a good appointment. JK is with the group a good few years from U21 & then senior so not sure if he'll stay on. Not so sure on Wall, ok he won a championship with a Downs team who were already primed to win it but left after dropping them into section B & has only just done one year with Roscommon. Damien Gavin has done a lot of years with U20's.....will he throw his name in for it? Shane Curran was mentioned by someone else. If we lose many more senior players its going to be a very tough job on whoever gets it.

They won promotion but it could easily have been Wexford and their display in Croke Park before our Div 3 final was a very lame effort. Mickey Graham was brought in as his number two after his first year which made him a lame duck manager in my view as Graham's managerial CV was way better. Moran stepping down recently was guaranteed once Graham joined the backroom team.

If its an outside manager then it will probably be last years senior panel he will be working.Only 2 games left in championship proper and 1 or 2 more-3 if you get to final-left for for a new manager to look at players/teams.Cant see anything or anyone in place for a week or more.A manager from within the county would know the scene better but is there anyone available or good enough.Question-can Jack Cooney come back as manager now that he has done 2 years witjh Croke park??

Potential candidates. Wall- has he enought experience at that level maybe was well liked at the Downs. Moran- Has more experience than Dessie had when he got it. Keane- will not be no.1 doesnt want it ? Cooney- i know hes part of the commitee but could fall at his feet yet Who else is out there ? With Armagh they had 4 savage coaches along with Mcgeeney so no.1 nowadays is not as hands on more an observer and player manager/organizer.
1. Vinny Cory 2.Luke Dempsey 3. Pascal kellaghan 4. Damien Gavin 5. Could Jason Sherlock get an ex Dub in. 6. Anthony Cunningham 7. Any ex players-Inside managers

Don't forget Leitrim lost in 2022 to New York under Moran..

Some of the existing panel have shown little form for their clubs in the opening three rounds, they'll be lucky to be selected by a new manager, Jack Cooney being nominated by a club to be part of recruitment team means he's not a contender.
