One terrible performance and the " Alarm bells sent ringing ". People need to cool the jets about it. Philbrown was never a fan of Dessie getting the job and only comes out of the woodwork when something goes wrong, Ill take his comments with a pinch of salt. We were very flat and torn to shreds by Murphy in the backline which is a worry. The one positive was John Heslin back out on the pitch. Things need to be rectified for Wicklow. Promotion to the top half of the league has been achieved having not played that well. I couldnt be bothered if we win the league final or not, giving a complete performance over 70 minutes and leaving Croke Park with no injuries would be a good result. The turnaround to championship is just too short. Getting to a Leinster final should be the next aim.

If someone said before the league we'd get promoted with Heslin not playing in any of the games we won they'd be laughed at. Add on top of that injuries to other key players like Wallace and it's been a great league.

Dessie probably hates playing so defensively which is why he brings it up but he absolutely has to play this way to compete otherwise we'd be torn to shreds. Same as every other county.

We can't play like we did in the championship last year because this is the league. Compare the league to last years and it's obviously brilliant. We hope to improve on last years championship in the championship. Good start to the year, lots of players blooded aswell so let's be happy and have our day out at the league final

Amazing with some people how sensitive they are to any criticism . I had major reservations about dessie getting through job but I'll admit credit due for championship last year ,promotion in league and blooding players . But if you think Sligo game is serious wake up call your living in cloud cuckoo land . The big positive is that players have quick turnaround and chance to put things right Saturday which I hope they do . Win on Saturday and whole mood around team changes , confidence up for summer and momentum could build again

its incredible not one player from either of the big 2 Athlone clubs starting and 1 from Garrycastle on the bench. This is mostly understandable in hurling but in football its inexcusable. We need Athlone to be providing players to our county panel.

Doesn't help when a player from one of these clubs was turned away from the county u20 squad this year and then went on to make the Galway panel. (His father is from Galway so that's how he qualifies)

Athlone had 3 or 4 on last years minor panel and Garrycastle have some very good footballers (James Mc Hugh) on the minor team this year so they are building again. I think this years minor panel could be strongest in a while.

Has a minor panel been named. Best of luck to damien and the u20 team tonight, got a tough draw this year. With the Marist in athlone and CBS mullingar going well, westmeath should have a strong minot team

Garrycastle have a strong u17 group this year alright. They won the u15 Division 1 in 2022. But they were back competing in u15 Division 3 in 2023. So could be a one off.

U20s got a really tough draw. They'll do very well to get anything from tonight.

Havent seen anything official on minor panel, just judging by what I have seen from club and college and recent U16 development squads. I know there is a batch of players that would have played in the north Leinster junior final ( game can be viewed on Marist youtube) involved. Cian Whitney from Moate is captain

Very worrying display in Kinnegad last night, great crowd in attendance including some prominent national politicians. We were outclassed in every sector, physically the two teams were on a different level, it was not far off an under 20 team versus an under 18 side, Obviously we have an extremely tough draw with Meath also in the group.

Tough night for the u20s. There is no shame in giving it your all and losing to a better, more physically prepared team. It doesnt get any easier having to go to Ashbourne next week although Meaths record at this grade is just as poor as ours and a lot expected of them this year as its the same group that won All Ireland minor.

Brilliant for 45 mins before red card. They were streets ahead of a poor Louth team. Inside forward line of McHugh, Lough and Scahill very impressive. Adam Smyth of Maryland/Tang was also very impressive however he picked up a red in injury time and he will miss next game.

Silly red card after 45 mins changed the game and Louth pinned Westmeath into there own half for the rest of the game and came from 5 points behind with the help of a strong wind. Thought the ref was poor overall for both teams but he got the 1st red card right. Ref never let the game flow and was pulling players for over carrying and fouling the ball on the ground way too much! 2nd red card was very harsh and the Louth player tricked the referee with a jump to the ground. Hopefully Westmeath appeal it.

Thought in after 45 mins it was one of the best minor performances over the last 10 years unfortunately things seem to collapse after that. They will have to go back to the drawing board now and need a win against either Meath or Kildare to get out of the group
