Replying To 2maroonjerseys:  "The three town clubs lomans shamrocks and shandonagh would surely supply the vast majority of players to the cbs.Anything west of shandonagh is kilbeggan and beyond. So there is no need for people to give out about the amount of players supplied. The biggest problem is with the amount of players they're getting how many are they loosing before they even supply the schools teams."
There were players playing from Ballynacargy and Milltown. If Shandonagh are being classified as a town club then so should The Downs.

If St Loman's pull so many players from rural areas, then they should be classified a rural club with that logic.

Big game Sunday, mullingar will be busy, half marathon, parade and the game, hopefully create a big buzz around the town and in cusack. Biggest test for dessie this year to date ,but he doing well so far without playing to full potential. Any team missing luke and heslin would struggle for scores but we have got the wins. Don't know how far away they are from returning. Good to see some of the panel playing club football last weekend. I think westmeath need the win, if we end up in three way playoff ie down, clare westmeath on 12 points, we wont qualify because of score difference.

Explain how Shandonagh are labelled a town club while The Downs are not?

I'm hearing Loughlin is back in full training, not sure if he will start but should appear at some stage. Don't know about Heslin. Drumm tweaked a hammer so could be out for a bit. Pity but Maguire moves to FB with the likes of Scahill, Smith or Dolan to come in.

I believe the head to head rule kicks on then. Certainly not wanting to count the chickens before they hatch, but I believe Westmeath have a really good chance here.

Head to head can't be used if there's three teams, Clare could still be a threat and they have Down last, a win on Sunday seems certain to gain promotion as Down and Clare then both can't get 12 points.

A win on Sunday will see our lads guaranteed promoted as top of the division. Huge opportunity and very important game in terms of playing Sam/Tailteann in the summer. Best of luck to Dessie and players, hopefully a big crowd will turn out in the park

Needs a big performance to beat Down. They haven't really been troubled so far while we have laboured somewhat with some of our wins. A big crowd in Cusack will certainly help the lads.

Interesting that basically everyone has predicted a Down win on the predictions thread here; not that it matters!

I'm going to call a Westmeath win with their best performance of the year. They have a few more gears to go up and I can't see why they can't depending on injuries. I was in Belfast the last day and Wallace & Drumm both went off injured. Be a massive boost if either of Heslin/Luke are fit to start.

I hope Westmeath supporters come out & get behind the team as all northern teams travel in large numbers!!

No team announced again Dessie.Disrespectful to the Players and supporters. How can the Media promote Westmeath when we wont promote ourselves.

There needs to be a rule brought in where all teams have to have a lineup released in advance of games by a certain time period. Any changes to the lineup within less then a hour before throw in count as a substitute or anymore then 2/3 changes to the starting team named count as subs

Kinda gone beyond the joke now-2.30 on saturday and still no mention of team or squad for tomorrows game-very disrespectful to playets and supporters alike.Fair play to the Westmeath hurling mamagement with team/squad named yesterday.

Looks like team to be released in next hour. No Wallace, Heslin, Gonoud, Drumm, J.Smyth in 26. Daly and Harte 50/50 but expected to start. Rumbling they will go with big Kieran Martin from the start. Loughlin back big plus.

Hard to do when you have lads injured and you don't know until the day of the game if they will make it.

To be fair to Dessie it's all mind games. I havnt a clue what 15 will start tomorrow and neither do Down and that's why it's done

No excuses.Every team has injuries.Top teams able to announce theirs and know the value of promotion.Westmeath have been at this for years.County Board need to step in and give the respect to the panel of players that they deserve.
