Clann Na geal, who will struggle to get through the quarters in Roscommon.

For St.Lomans, seemingly, Jack Geoghegans injury not as serious as once feared and will in contention for a semi final start. John Heslin is is cleared to play. Peter Foy is suspended for the remainder of championship however, and that will have bigger ramifications for St. Lomans, should they get to a Final. They will beat Tyrellspass without him but it's a huge loss if it turns out to be a Kinnegad/St.Lomans final. Caulry can challenge Kinnegad in a major way if they bring Senan out to Centre forward. When he plays deeper he is far more dangerous in club football in my opinion. If Maguire can shore up the defense a lot better than he has in previous games, they have a big chance. This is a closer championship than we originally expected I feel. Edman78 (Westmeath) - Posts: 100 - 11/09/2023 13:09:34 2503792 Link 0 |
Interesting that on Sunday, both teams with the most dual players lost, Killucan and The Downs. The teams with none or a few dual players all won. Fatigue from playing camogie championship on the Saturday plus the warm humid weather all played a factor I am sure. Westmeath LGFA and Westmeath Camogie, get your act together for the betterment of the dual players, no more fixtures within 24 hours of each other, the men's side of the game have a tried and tested workable solution with alternating weekends which may be too obvious to you. If the games need to be played same week, at least have 72 hours between games. The girls need time to recover and recharge between games. If this player welfare situation is allowed continue, there will be more fatigue, more injuries, more burnout, and the results will swing to the clubs with the least amount of dual players, and potentially discourage girls from playing both camogie and football or choosing one sport only. Westmeath LGFA and Westmeath Camogie, get your act together!!! Fix the fixtures!!! Look after your dual players!!! JoxerDaly (Westmeath) - Posts: 25 - 11/09/2023 13:24:01 2503796 Link 0 |
Roscommon champ stronger than Westmeath champ? Hard to gauge on challenge match I suppose

I think Lomans will prove to be to strong for Tyrellspass -their squad in depth is just to strong. The Pass will give it a good go and fancy game will be close enough heading into the final quarter but this is where Lomans will pull away and win by 4 or 5 pts Bruno@1 (Westmeath) - Posts: 218 - 11/09/2023 14:35:24 2503824 Link 0 |
True you cant read anything into challenge matches but Caulry were poor in that Challenge match last Friday and will need a massive improvement to trouble Kinnegad. Clann have Boyle to play to next day last years beaten finalists that's why they probably wont go past the quarters. On paper Loman's every bit as good as strongest in Ros. Not sure if there is much different between overall strength of either Champ. sourmilk93 (Roscommon) - Posts: 1188 - 11/09/2023 14:42:07 2503826 Link 1 |
Caulry are seen as team to trouble Lomans with all there young talent coming thru mixed in with county players like Kevin Maguire, Conor Mc Cormack and Senan Baker. Bit off Lomans level but would be fancied to beat Kinnegad on Sunday, a lot will depend on form of Mc Cormack and Baker, theyre like what O Toole and Heslin are for Lomans. A good league team Kinnegad beat Caulry in first champ game this year but were missing Mc Cormack and 6 other starters so different result expected this time. Caulry have never been in final before, 77 years since last final, massive chance to break duck but I dont see them troubling Lomans (expected to beat Tyrrellspass) yet lakecounty90 (Westmeath) - Posts: 118 - 11/09/2023 15:09:08 2503833 Link 0 |

People on here still blowing caulry up something shocking what have they actually ever done at senior level bar get to a semi final without beating a decent team & when they did they struggled (Lomans , kinnegad & even the downs and how bad they were this year ) mind boggling Westmeath213 (Westmeath) - Posts: 337 - 11/09/2023 17:16:33 2503863 Link 1 |
Mc Cormack, Emmet Nally, Ben Moran, Damien Dolan, Sean Murphy and Sean Connaughton and Sean Clinton I really think Caulry are coasting into a final without reaching any great heights yet and who knows in one off game with Lomans?? You and others might take my posts serious then lakecounty90 (Westmeath) - Posts: 118 - 11/09/2023 17:30:07 2503870 Link 0 |

Why did you only name six players Mick? Looks like you don't have much faith yourself? If another poster named six Tyrrellspass players you'd be quick to point out that ye have other important players Claretandblue (Westmeath) - Posts: 1967 - 12/09/2023 14:28:57 2503996 Link 0 |
