Replying To A_Chairde:  "Strongest squad of players but not as strong as last year when they had Dowdall playing and Kelvin Reilly."
Dowdall didn't play very much last year? Half a game in the final and he was well and truly finished at that stage going off injured only 15/20 mins in. Kelvin Reilly is back. Will more than likely be center back for a semi or a final. They're as full strength as I've seen.

Hardly a major issue considering that the county board and competing clubs are providing the stewards and that the pitches and lights are the best in the south of the county. Hogan Park doesn't have lights as far as I know.

Stronger than last year for sure, The loss of Dowdall is massive but some of these young players like the 2 Hogans, Geoghegan, Gaffney and McCartan have improved massively since last year

I'm predicting a Lomans double at senior and junior 1. Has this been done before ?

Tubberclair and Milltown into intermediate semi finals, Rosemount and Castledaly into quarters along with Malachy's. Ballymore and St. Mary's demoted to section B. One spot to be decided between Multy, Milltownpass and Ballynacargy tomorrow. Very open championship, Milltown appear to be motoring well, they've been missing Jack Murtagh and Conor Gibney but they could be back for semis, Ballymore unlucky to be demoted with four points and a one point defeat vs Tubberclair tonight.

In 8 days time, 10 teams left will become 4. It is realistically a two horse race between Lomans and Kinnegad though.
Killucan capable of taking a massive scalp.
Shamrocks the real dark horse, as they're one of the very few teams who won't fear Lomans.
A lot of teams are about 5 or 6 points down mentally before a ball is thrown in against Lomans - that does not apply with Shamrocks.
Shamrocks unlikely to qualify though.

Two horse race with a decent possibility that one of those teams will be not in the race!! Tomorrow afternoon will tell a lot about Kinnegad's championship credentials. It's a must win game against a decent side, Kinnegad have a stellar management set up, no significant injury concerns, lots of players in their early twenties, personally don't think they can beat Loman's when it matters but to do so they need to show they can perform on big days and tomorrow is one of those. Possibility of being in section B next year should focus both sides massively.

What's the story with Section B after tonight's games? Shamrocks, Athlone and Shandonagh all on six points, so it comes down to score difference in the games involving these three teams. I think Shamrocks go through. mainly because of their big win over Shandonagh in Round 2.

Mea culpa - I got that wrong. Athlone go through, along with Tang. Surprisingly, Athlone seem to have struggled to beat already relegated Garrycastle, who once again failed to hold onto a winning position. That's happened a lot in the last two years.

That would have been the case prior to this year. But new rule at congress meant 3 teams tide are placed in their own mini league. Athlone beat Shamrocks and Shandonagh. Teams were well aware of this , but that was not the case in some other counties this weekend. Heard of 2 cases where teams thought they were through , celebrated , and then found out subsequently that they were not.

Watched the Moate Shamrocks game on stream. Wind made it tricky , but Shamrocks were deserving winners and probably should have won by a good bit more. Moate too reliant on Forde to do all their scoring. Was very impressed with Ormsby for Shamrocks, playing his first senior championship game.

Section B will be insanely competitive next year.

What a group Senior Section B was! Terrific for Athlone to go through and up to Section A next year

Another day of games tomorrow which should just be as interesting. We have a brilliant championship structure

Massive result for Athlone. Got over the last two games with narrow wins but prior to that there was talk of their last game being a relegation decider with Garrycastle (myself included). Credit where it's due after losing their first two games. I wouldn't read too much into Tang losing by the minimum to Shandonagh. Tang were 5 points clear heading into the last ten minutes and Shandonagh scored 1-3 without reply in that time. Tang made a fair few changes in that period with one eye on next week no doubt. Neither team will fear any of their potential quarter final opponents and we should be in for two good games next Sunday no matter who they are playing.

Athlone a very average team and absolutely blessed to get through.
Tang are good - have a genuine chance of reaching semi final.
Moate were very poor and Shamrocks were miles the better team.
The Downs are going to go back up next year so realistically the other 5 section B teams are playing for one place.

Milltownpass recovered well from two opening defeats to qualify for quarter finals, they won't fear Castledaly next weekend, Malachy's impressive record with five successive wins means they play Rosemount, the section B teams will fancy their chances of overall success with no team in section A showing top form.

Loman's in first place, Kinnegad also into semi finals, Tyrrellspass who were very poor today apparently to play Tang, Caulry to play Athlone. Costly win for Loman's with Peter Foy to miss semi final after red card, hard to see beyond a Loman's vs Kinnegad final.

Milltownpass did what they had to do for their last 3 games. They scraped over Multy, had a good win against CFCW & completely destroyed Maryland in the last round. Ballinacargy obviously gave up after their first two matches, hard to believe they lost to CFCW yesterday who were already relegated, a win would have put them into the quarter final.
As expected Malachys & Milltownpass advance after dropping down from group a last year.
Both teams have a great chance of making the semis & possibly further.
