No as it's not based on scoring difference first, as most had presumed. It's based on results and Athlone beat both Shamrocks and Shandonagh.

In that case Athlone would go through as they have beaten Shamrocks and Shandonagh giving them 4 points. Shamrocks have 2 and Shandonagh 0.

Oh wow. Never heard of that happening before. Is that a rule in Westmeath that has changed or across the GAA as a whole?

You haven't heard of it because it isn't a rule!

Head to head if two teams level on points

Scored Diff if 3 or more teams level on points (Score diff only for the games the 3 teams were involved in)

Dessie and Co back again next year.

Really looking forward to see how we progress after this year, hopefully no retirements and few new young faces in the panel will surely push us on

Thought that too.
Not any more. Go to GAA.ie
Look up 2033 Official Guide (Part 1) (1)
Then scroll to 6.21
No mention of a difference for 3 teams anymore

Potentially four teams locked in a mini score diff league then (Caulry and Downs play out draw who knows) Pressure on Killucan if they can get Lomans in a dogfight and out of Cusack they will beat them like they done to Kinnegad last day in the Bridge

Has Dessie confirmed ? Chairperson said he is still mulling it over. His name didn't go forward for ratification on Weds night. See Declan Kelly appointed in Offaly. Don't know the chap but impressed with what he did with Offaly 20's and Loman's. See he has brought Kilmurray with him.

At national congress or Westmeath?
I can't find anything online from official streams? Also it hasn't been updated on official rules on the website

It is on it. Look on Mullingar Shamrock's Facebook page. They explain it quite well there.

At national congress.

The 2023 version of the rules was updated on the gaa website can be found here:

https://www.gaa.ie/api/pdfs/image/upload/wqyurc9ptfa4hto2ypby.pdf

The relevant rule is 6.21 on page 96. The change is subtle but the wording is different to the 2022 version of the rules.

Senior Football section B
1, Who ever losses between Shamrocks and Moate are out.
2,If it ends in a draw both teams are out if Athlone or Shandonagh win. If both Shandonagh and athlone win Athlone go through on the head to head.
3, if Shamrocks/Moate ends In a draw and athlone and Shandonagh lose, Moate will go through on better scores 51 against 50 as table is now.
4. Take that athlone and Shandonagh win.
If Shamrocks win their game Athlone go through.
If Moate win their game, Moate go through.

This is what I took from the new rule R6.21

Yep, it's great craic.

If Moate win , then Athlone and Shamrocks are out. Shandonagh would qualify then on h2h if they win, and Athlone don't. Moate would qualify if Athlone win and/or Shandonagh don't.

If Shamrocks win , then Moate and Shandonagh are out. Athlone would qualify if they win. Shandonagh result irrelevant. If Athlone don't win Shamrocks through.

If Athlone win, then Shandonagh and Shamrocks are out. Moate will qualify if they win. If Shamrocks win , then Athlone through.

If Shandonagh win, then they need Moate to win and Athlone to fail to win.

If Shandonagh win by 3-4 points and Moate and Athlone win by less then it's very tight. At moment in those 3 teams mini group they'd have same number of points, Athlone -4, Shandonagh +1, Moate + 3.

Big weekend for the intermediate groups as well. Group A is very tight but Tubberclair should take care of Ballymore & Milltown will easily best Rochfortbridge who are already dropping to Group B for next year. Castleday-Rosemount is hard to call but I think Castledaly will shade it to take a semi final spot meaning Ballymore will drop to Group B.
Group B is just as tight for 4 teams. Malachys already through but are still likely beat Multy, Bal should beat CFCW easily as they are already relegated to Junior. Maryland-Milltownpass will be very close but I think if Bal win they go through regardless on head to head. Very competitive championship in both groups as usual.

Killucan are and will be the only team to get 'a crack' at the now perceived top two St Lomans and Kinnegad outside of Cusack this year. Interesting fact just saying.
