Replying To giveitlong:  "Anyone writing off the Dubs based on this have truly lost it. They have to win 1 of their next 3 games to remain in the hunt for SAM. The provincials mean very little this year to SAM contenders. Next year will be a different story."
Can write them off from winning Leinster anyway. Showed against Galway last year that they were a fading force. That was Galway's 3rd match in as many weeks against a rested Dublin. In the past with Dublin's fitness and bench options to bring on would have kicked on to win but the opposite happen. Can quote me back on this if wrong but that Dublin team will not be among the leading contenders for Sam this summer and will do well to reach the semi final another last 8 exit is very possible.

An exceptional Dublin team with exceptional individuals has come to an end and there may be a barren spell ahead for the Dubs."
No doubt!

Yes Dublin not always the most popular outside the pale.
However what has to be recognised is the Dublin team we experience over their long reign were exceptional.
One of the greatest ever .

This indeed has been a tremendous period for Dublin. We have been lucky to have seen some of the best exponents of the game in action. They could play it any way the opposition liked and beat all before them. All good things come to an end, but I can't imagine them going too far away. They still have the nucleus of a very good team. In my opinion, it's never a good sign to be bringing back players but I think that Dessie will rebuild fairly quickly. There may be no more 5 or 6 in a rows, but, like Kerry, they can never be taken lightly.

Meath have also played Dublin in Croke Park far more than anywhere else. Croke Park is of course an advantage to Dublin but the good days are over for now.

Replying To realdub:  "Well there we go lads, 15 years of dominance gone.
Long overdue it has to be said but Meath are well entitled to celebrate tonight.
Should be a great final, plenty of bite, which has been lacking in this province for too long.
Hoping this will encourage young players around the province and we can revive the interest in our sport.
Well done to Meath and good luck for the rest of the championship!"
Well said, I always enjoy the Dubs, and its great to see sportsmanship like this , but i have doubtthey will be there at the back end of the C ship

It has a lot to do with it Barney, fact is the Dubs don't like playing outside Croke Park, it's worth 4/5 points every match. Some people mightn't like it but it's fact.

Statistics do not lie. Dublin have played lots of championship games outside Croke Park. Today was second loss since 1972! Better record away than in CP. Fact. Leinster Council put the games in Croke Park after it was renovated. Nothing to do with Dublin. Another fact.

Well done Meath by the way. Good to see Dub put some balls back in them.

Congratulations to Meath, best team on the day and fully deserved winners, 0 complaints here.

Best of luck in the Final.

Should be a ding dong with Louth.

Typical dubs take them out of croker and they fall apart, easy to win all irelands when you play all your games at home

Great to see some new teams in the Leinster final. Well done Louth and Meath. Also remember years 2010 to 2021 were a golden age for the GAA. Packed stadiums, great games. Dublin football were at the heart of it too.

Meath fully deserved the win.

Between the 5 retirees and the lads missing today, this shell of a team were always going to be found out this season.

Robbie the Dub Brennan is doing a fine job with Meath in fairness.

Looking forward to another Meath v Louth Leinster Final installment.

As for the Dubs, this is effectively season over for them - they wont come back from this imo and Dessie will be gone at the end of the season. This was a dreadful performance.

This result is not a shock at all. In fact to us who follow this team to all games, and those with a bit of inside knowledge, this result was always going to happen this year.

Fully expect another 4 retirees at the end of this season and I for one think - new manager and coaching setup for this new look team. Only a handful remain and most of them are over 30...... I think Con and Howard are the only two mainstays left under 30...

Meath will be too good for Louth in the Final imo.

They have steel, skill, experience and youth. A really good blend. Back to the Meath of old.

Even at underage, they are flying.....

As for Dublin - they think its all over - it is now.
Fully expect a barren few years now.
4 or 5 more will retire this year, and our newbies are not up to the standard of the other top counties, atm.
We are miles off being a top top team and wont compete for Sam for quite a while.

Such is creche structure that Dublin possibly make quarter finals.

Better to be gone now. Hopefully they go down with boots on against one of contenders.

Hurling championship much better reward and quick elimination of mediocre.

Ye beat us in an All-Ireland semi-final in Croke Park in 2014. We've lost many important matches in Croke Park over the years. We lost today because we played the 1st half into the wind. The fact is Meath won the 1st half hands down, the 2nd half we won, and might have sneaked a win had Cormac Costello's 2nd goal attempt gone in.

Meath wanted it more today, they are an up and coming team, whereas we are re-building. In truth, it's probably the end of an era. And a great era for us, it was!

Who's likely to retire? It looks like the conveyor belt of talent has stalled and you can't afford to lose many more lads else will be a barren few years for ye alright.

The likes of Ewan McKenna and Malachy Clerkin must have been dreading this day when the Dubs finally slid back into the Leinster pack and their myths of success through "financial doping" and population were busted. Congratulations to a youthful, hungry and very fit Meath team who got their tactics spot on today. It was despairing standing behind the goal in the first half and watching the greatest keeper of his time kick long time and time again, directly gifting Meath 7 or 8 points and about 15 possessions in total as the Dublin midfield was wiped out. Why the kick-out strategy wasn't varied against such a strong wind when we were being cleaned out, only Clucko and the mentors will know. Great to see Louth and Meath in the final, delighted for Ger Brennan. Hopefully the Dubs can regroup ahead of the AI series.
