What's going on over in Newtownforbes? Meeting held with players and what was supposed to be the incoming management team at the weekend. Apparently, the club are now looking for new management!

I got this one wrong. I was told it was a local and thought myself it was Tony Devlin. I've been informed today that it is in fact Liam Belton who is back in charge of the club. He led Clonguish to their last Senior title back in 2008 I think it was.

There are obviously a few gaps to be filled in there now but I'd imagine that the clubs have someone in place at this stage. Leagues starting on 16th April.

Does anyone else find that the current website is not as good when you are looking for fixtures?
On the old website you could click on a division and see all games for that division and also click on a particular team and see all fixtures for that team. It was a lot more user friendly. On the current website when you click on senior you see all the Division 4 & 5 fixtures for example, as well as Division 1. I never considered Division 4 & 5 senior. A simple fix is to be able to look up fixtures by championship/division/group/ It's good in other ways it'd be a pity if they couldn't update it to show at least the division fixtures on their own.

Had a look at what the neighbours are all doing. Longford seems to be using the same fixtures thing as Westmeath (looks exactly the same just different colours on their site). Their one can dig down by division, so it is clearly possible. Might be worth someone suggesting it to the PRO because it was fierce handy to dig down by competition back in the day before Servasport switched off that old system.

Just saw that ACFL division 1 is split into two groups this year.
Any particular or logical reason for that change?

You'll face the same teams playing 5 with and 5 without the players on the Senior Football and Hurling panels

They are doing this idiotic 'no county players' garbage again?
I despair.

Which is worse, no county players or no games?

I actually enjoyed the competition a few years ago without the county players. I think that is a good alternative. Players need and want games this time of year, regardless of the weather. No one wants to be training at weekends but everyone will play a game. We'll end up with loads of games at the end of the year again after championship which are a complete waste of time.

Last season there were games held with lines of county players sat in the stand watching.
That is a disgrace and will be repeated again this year.
Ridiculous system, unique to Longford.
Unique to Longford!

Runs successfully in Monaghan and other counties. Set up so that the first 5 rounds will be finished before Longford finish in the Tailteann Cup. Remaining 5 games played before Championship starts
