Replying To jobber:  "Great posts Loch Lene thanks for the insights.Id say Johhny and Kevin would work together with 20s and seniors. But they would need a big name coach like we had with Noel Larkin with Shane O Brien if we are to entice all the players to stay on board. The board should be making sure the selection committee is in place in the next few days.Id say our job would be very attractive to lots of coaches."
If you are looking for "big names" to entice players we'll I'd rather not have them players.. Kevin O'Brien and Johnny Greville have done enough for hurling within the County to have the respect of the players. That's the kind of attitude that has us where we are.

Replying To LockLeanGayl:  "Don't Johnny and Kevin run the U14s together? Don't think it's outside the realms of possibility that it would happen…

I'm not sure about going for the big name for the sake of it?

We are entering a period of transition wouldn't it be better to get a local to bring them along for a couple of years and then go for a big outside name?

Because we all know what happens with outside managers… They play the lads that will win them games today… Development isn't always their number one"
It's good to see Johnny and Kevin with the u14s, plenty of talent there with that group but having the likes of the two lads involved would bring a great deal of knowledge, wisdom and professionalism to the table.
Of course you could see both of them with the seniors also, but you have to say that for the long term having them involved with our underage teams for the next couple of years is more important. Attracting an outside name might not be the worst thing in the world if its a good one and they can bring the seniors on further in the next 2/3 years. Then maybe give Johnny and Kevin a shot at it when the young players they've been working with start to come on through.
We added five u20s this year to the team, next year I expect another 3 or so. We have to keep that consistent.
Between the 2017 u21 team and this year's u20s, we haven't had many come through so it's important to keep that flow of players coming.

Players needing a big time coach to stay on board? Hardly correct, if that's their attitude let them off, they've not enough credit to start making demands

Which 3 under 20s would you expect to see at senior level next year?

Darragh McCormack, Darragh Smith and Sean Jackson (goals) probably second keeper to Mulkearns. I have a feeling Conaty will step away next year.

Possibly Peter Murphy if he shows well for Castletown Seniors this year.

Jackson isn't in goals for Castletown at intermediate or senior level so can't see him in it for the county it would be a big ask surely there's someone doing it at club level willing to fill the void

Ah he surely will be in goal for Castletown this year?

Is he U20 again next year or overage, was asking a lad the other day and they weren't sure.

Think he was a minor outfield in 2022 but could be wrong
