Doyle not returning to senior panel opting to stick with club. Peadar Scally also left panel.. Players are clearly not inspired by current set up...

I wouldn't be surprised if Buffin is gone before the Joe McDonagh starts. Something has to change ASAP as they will be back in the Christy Ring Cup if nothing changes!

He's been present with the panel at the last two games and is also a named panel member.

Quick question. Couldn't find this info anywhere. What club does Conor Bracken play for?

There is a young Conor bracken from Delvin, not sure if it's the one your thinking of.

Thanks a millions. Had noted all the players who played league/championship hurling for Westmeath since 2019. Conor Bracken was the only one whose club I wasn't sure about

Too much nice hurlers and not enough dogs / workers in my opinion, who are the enforcers on this team? David Williams seems the only hard worker in hooks blocks tackles

Needs more grit

I agree with that point. I was impressed with Mark Cunningham though, he works very hard on and off the ball

Mindset change needed, over the past 10 years Lough lene gaels and Castletown have been considered nice hurlers but maybe a bit soft, you can see a difference in both of their approaches in recent years. All the nice hurlers in the world won't win much with the exception of Raharney

with exception why does that apply to them just wondering i would say raharney have the mindset you say but overall ctg and gaels as talented or more but ye combination of both needed. With exception of Raharney why does that apply there, can you explain .

Hearing from reliable source that board will assess at end of league iffno improvement in results and that contingencies in place if need arises before the start of the McDonagh, but pressure on due to the way appointment was made and one club delegate in particular is looking for review.

Raharney have lovely hurlers, but I'd argue they have a very strange mindset, they're not exactly work horses. With the talent they have they shouldn't be losing to LLG or Clonkill

I think ye guys have hit the nail on the head.We are missing that Clonkill and Castlepollard aggression to mix with the others.Dara Egerton a massive loss in a defence full of nice hurlers.Getting Davy Glennon and Joey Boyle 100% fit will be very important for Mcdonagh as they have a bit of bite as well.

Last weekend's challenge match vs Limerick under 20s was an unusual choice between league matches and d so it proved. Limerick handed us a large beating, signs on a difficult afternoon in Tullamore on Sunday with Offaly prob guaranteed Division 1 as a result and our demotion to division 3. It's hard to figure why the counties have gone on such wildly divergent paths so quickly.

Anyone hear how the minors are doing under McKeogh? Plenty of talent available to him. U20 side is quiet weaker than last years side.

It's not really that hard to put this together...

Offaly u20s won the All Ireland last year and were runner-up in 2023. Their u20 footballers won the 2021 All Ireland. There's been significant investment in facilities and development over time. It's not like they've just appeared out of thin air.

The two counties are on completely different trajectories. Granted, Offaly had some very bad days in hurling over the last few years, but they regrouped and reset some time ago. Their hard work is paying off, and there are significant lessons for a similar-sized dual county to learn from.

A lot of questions are being asked of management in this thread. Time will tell but ultimately we don't have depth and it's asking a lot of young players to step up. If a handful of key players aren't involved we will be struggling to compete at this level.
