Shadow boxing to an extent Id say. Cant understand why hurling league finals were nt played a couple of weeks ago. A week before the first round demeans the competition to an extent.

League finals in both codes were due to be played a few weeks earlier, there was a massive backlog of games due to bad weather, the delay was needed to play the games.

Henry Shefflin or Davy Fitz for senior hurlers... stonemadbeany (USA) - Posts: 596 - 04/07/2024 13:23:27 2556897 Link 0 |
Davey Fitz is a free agent. Could he be the one to get team on to the next level (if he got the job or showed interest). Or would he do more harm than good. I'd like to hear Westmeath hurling supporters view on this! preddan (Kildare) - Posts: 763 - 04/07/2024 15:17:33 2556921 Link 0 |

Shefflin said on Galway bay fm he's taking role with Ballyhale. Danup (Westmeath) - Posts: 45 - 04/07/2024 19:00:07 2556954 Link 0 |
Disgraceful comment by a so called Westmeath supporter

Do you really want either of them?

I know neither of them would come to Westmeath, I was stirring the pot as it's gone off the boil.

Considering we don't have a county training ground or a county gym maybe shelling out six figures over the next few seasons for a manager wouldn't be the wisest investment

totally agree this person is one of those who would burn every hurl in the county. We dont need pie in the sky managers but a serious project. We have people in Westmeath fit to take it on and we are a very attractive team for a young ambitious manager on the way up.So lets hope the board get the right man in place soon as the championship starts next week.

Surely the football could have been played this weekend and the hurling last weekend with the hurling championship this weekend coming. Was that all to suit a certain wedding in a certain club? westmeathgaa11 (Westmeath) - Posts: 299 - 06/07/2024 13:17:37 2557188 Link 0 |
More conspiracy nonsense. Loman's were short 5-6 starters in league final so not sure how this suited them last week. Brownstown played league final last night, bet they're delighted with a competitive outing before championship opener vs St. Brigid's. Similarly with teams playing this evening. Brownstown produced a superb display last evening. Looked fitter than ever, excellent style of hurling and accuracy, minus Conor Shaw. The side that beats them will win Intermediate championship. I dont have any problems with the league finals this weekend. We also have under 20 championship before the senior but thats the way championship has to be played.Castletown,Gaels Brownstown,Raharney and Cullion all happy to get competitive games although history tells us nt to read too much into who wins leagues

Gaels struggled against a Castletown B team, can't imagine them going far this year… westmeathgaa11 (Westmeath) - Posts: 299 - 06/07/2024 20:51:57 2557288 Link 0 |
Gaels got off to a great start and should have had more on the board by halftime. Missed at least two goal opportunities. CTG finished strong and deserved their win.

Castletown,Brownstown and Raharney all won easily.CTG clearly still missing players look good. But nobody will remember league winners. The 3 championship are very competitive and clearly CTG wat to win 20s as well. jobber (Westmeath) - Posts: 1618 - 06/07/2024 22:11:45 2557305 Link 0 |
Agreed we could have been out of sight by half time Slightly worrying the amount of lads Castletown didn't have… But I'm sure the cup isn't on a counter in Castletown, more likely in Buddhas boot. The focus has already turned to next weekend LockLeanGayl (Westmeath) - Posts: 257 - 06/07/2024 23:52:26 2557321 Link 0 |
Mattie Kenny emerging as favourite to take over senior hurlers . On good authority he met with Co Board at weekend. Danup (Westmeath) - Posts: 45 - 08/07/2024 08:06:20 2557603 Link 0 |
