I read that Derrys win puts them into Leinster in group A in place of Antrim.

No one getting carried away in Westmeath, a win is a win. Joe McDonagh will be a tough competition, championship hurling comes down to fine margins, I expect us to win our home games, Offaly in Tullamore is a big one and the trip to Ballycran won't be easy either, I'm presuming Ballycran cos we very rarely play in Newry

i have no problem playing Antrim.I think when we have our best 15 out and they have theirs now Mcmanus has retired we would win 7 times out of 10.
Anyway they need to concern themelves with Carlow and their underage.
We didnt play well yesterday but still won by 6 and I believe we will be better as the sod gets firmer. We will need to be as Offaly despite today and Laois will be well up for the midland derbies.

Good to hear our u20s are comprehensive winners over Kildare and were up against a Galway senior selection in challenge games. Without the four senior lads it bodes well for squad depth. Kevin O'Brien, Brendan Murtagh and John Shaw are the right men for this group.

McManus must be some hurler, last May in a championship do or die game Antrim beat us 4-24 to 1-19, they were far superior, at least let's try to be realistic on this forum.

If only I had your experience and knowledge I am sure I wouldnt get so carried away with excitement and ridiculous optimism
I think I will join you at the football matches where we can gorge ourselves on back passes and 77 handpasses to get to the 45 and become ever more wonderfully negative!!!!!

Dont worry Dheen as you know the real hurling people have had to fight against this negativity for generations but year after year we have dreamt and will continue to do so.Abd continue to be the leading flagship.

Antrim have lost a good few more than just Neil for this year.

so they have but what about us last year when we beat you lot without all our big players in Wexford park and won and then lost to an Antrim team at its absolute peak without Aonghus Clarke,Kilian Doyle,Cormac Boyle and a Niall Mitchell at 25% so spare me the bolloney of some of the football brigade

Not sure what you mean by that. I was just pointing out that Antrim have lost more than just Neil this year. Your lads did very well beating us last year. I was there. As regards your football brigade while they are probably top 5 or so in Leinster you need to remind them that your hurlers are top 10 or 12 in the country!

You'd be sick of hearing about the players Antrim are missing. We were without 6 players at the weekend you could call starters. Four of our players were 19 year olds who absolutely stood out.
Everyone was on here around December and January with the doom and gloom, but as soon as the seniors are looking promising and the u20s showing promise as well. It goes quiet and you have the few negative posters coming with the "Reality" posts. If your following our hurlers, back them and show some confidence in them. We have been punching above our weight for a good while now.

Very good win and always kept Antrim at arms length. We managed to out work and be the dominant physical side which is a must against Antrim. Both teams are still ahead of Offaly imo. Just look at how both teams work the ball out from the back compared to Offaly and you can see we have been operating at a higher level .

Both teams are in transition but we had the better backs yesterday. It's great to have both Egerton and Gaffney capable of playing with loads of space because of how fast they are. Niall Mitchell is a complete nuisance inside and no dropping ball is wasted by him. He didn't have his best game but the problems he causes when he gets the ball is amazing.

Conaty with an amazing save from point blank range to aswell.

Slight begrudgery against Westmeath here westmeath also missing several players from last year and injury.
So nit one away only .

lets move on.Facts we still missing a few beat an Antrim team not as good as last year.
Now we have Dublin in Parnell park.I cannot remember a Westmeath team winning there. They did very well in Galway unlike us but I feel we can be very competitive.

We need to be because Mcdonagh though winnable will be very difficult with tricky away games in Meath,Down who pushed Carlow all the way yesterday in Carlow and a resurgent Offaly. We have a brutal record with Kerry in Mullingar and we all know Laois.
So the slightest cockiness will be punished.I think we are going to have good competition for places which will be a big help but am still worried by the appearance of one of our big names.Wont do!

I think your hurling team are excellent. There's never been anything demeaning in anything I posted about ye. I was the first to point out to people last year and the year before that some of the criticism of our lads was demeaning to yours. Antrim likewise.
