That's some shock they pulled off today in Aughrim. Fair play to them. FrankieJoe (Wicklow) - Posts: 87 - 10/03/2024 14:48:36 2530579 Link 0 |
Well done to the Wicklow hurlers and management. Despite a lot of negativity, a decent result against Derry today. Rome wasn't built in a day but hopefully the team can build on this result and start to make progress towards where they want to be.

Another battling display today from the hurlers. Possibly some of our best are absent but these guys can't be faulted for guts and honesty.

Can't complain about support as long as people aren't allowed to pay into matches.

We seem to have so many problems internally. in the county and that is just one. I am an OAP who can thankfully, do some business online. I know many of my age ( and younger) who can't and rather than drive to a designated supermarket or get family or friends to get tickets or barcodes on their phones, they have decided it's not worth the hassle.

I have a lot of sympathy for people with regard to the way the GAA exclude them by introducing technology in terms of purchasing tickets. I've assisted some people in purchasing tickets online for club games in Kildare. For me, it demonstrates how out of touch the hierarchy at the top of the GAA is with with grass root supporters. However, I don't think it is enough of a reason to explain the poor level of support that the county teams receive. I don't make it to all the matches but I do try and attend as many as I can to show support. A large number of counties have core supporters who attend matches regardless of how the team is faring and a lot of counties have supporters? who jump on the bandwagon. I think the football team could really do with support presently as their division 3 campaign is fizzling out and confidence is low going into the championship.

"Div 3 campaign fizzling out". I love your terminology. Hopefully they can go out with a bang rather than a whimper.

I could have put failing miserably but that would hardly encourage supporters to follow the team. Hopefully we can get a result at home to Limerick this week as we don't have a great record in Belfast against Antrim.

Fair play to Bosco and the team yesterday, again showing despite our hurling challenges away from the field that we still have lads with pride & ability to represent themselves and the county admirably. Hawkeye2 (Wicklow) - Posts: 145 - 11/03/2024 14:16:36 2530755 Link 0 |

Be lucky to get their ref uniform by 2026. Not a bob in the county with the extravagant spending.

It's a wonder we can get any given the abuse they have to take sometimes. All clubs are guilty - to a degree, but some have a disgraceful attitude to referees

Anyone have any news on how the U20s are doing this year? Are they playing in that cup they got to the final of last year? TopDrawer (Wicklow) - Posts: 65 - 14/03/2024 14:51:35 2531134 Link 0 |
That should read "club supporters" - not clubs.

Possibly ask the seniors ?

How would the seniors know if they train on separate nights?

How would they know

As a new season beckons I fear for the Wicklow camogie club seen. If you look at Knockananna they have been the dominant force for the last few years with few getting near them. Surely this needs to be looked at considering they are basically a combined team with players from Tinahely, Annacurra and all the other surrounding areas. #splitknockanannain2. Its also a shame that not many of these players put themselves forward to represent Wicklow at intercounty level who I'm sure would be a welcome addition to the current squad who seem to be going well and could drive Wicklow up the camogie rankings even further. I did hear there was a falling out but surely it would be worth getting these players back in under the new management considering the experience they would bring having won Wicklow, Leinster and All Ireland Honours. Food for thought.... broco58 (Wicklow) - Posts: 3 - 14/03/2024 18:32:49 2531161 Link 0 |
Just like to comment on this as I myself have played both hurling and camogie for knockanna and I can safely say they don't care about players welfare and had us training 8 or 9 times a week but then again who are you to say to split up knockanna your not in charge so stay out of it
