Replying To stringfellohawk:  "I have to say I was very impressed with the final quarter that the lads put in today...I thought that after the goal the heads would drop and it would be lights out but the lads really stayed cool and ground out a win. There will still be some twists and turns in this league as the top 4/5 teams can beat each other on any given day but we are right in the middle of the battle which no one would have predicted after the second half v Sligo...plus a really strong win for the u20 on Saturday so all in all a good weekend for Wicklow football...is there a bit of buzz growing?!"
Best of luck to u20 footballers and mentors tomorrow in the league final. A nice stepping stone to get ready for the Dubs.

Great win by the under 20 team today. The team have been excellent throughout the competition even if the opposition wasn't the strongest, Wicklow disposed of them comfortably. On to the under 20 leinster championship, hopefully the squad can produce and give leinster a good go. Congratulations to all involved.

Well done to the u20s good for Wicklow to win a cup at any level...it doesn't happen very often! Let's hope they can drive forward and have a good Leinster campaign

Good weekend for Wicklow GAA. Good win by the u20 footballers in advance of the leinster championship. Casey seems to have turned the hurlers' fortunes around since he became hurling manager. A comprehensive win away to Donegal today.

Nice win for the hurlers today...Casey has them going well now. A massive difference to this time last year so congratulations to all involved

It certainly has been one of the better weekends. Casey is getting a response from his lads. I'd imagine it would take a major disaster to avoid promotion. He harms some niece younger guys starting to blend in. The U20s - congrats to them. This seems to be a group of lads that will tackle whatever is put in front of them. Really looking forward to the Dubs match. I have been watching the other leagues and whereas Dublin are doing ok, they are not setting the world on fire albeit their opposition would be classed as tougher. From U17 and U20 Leinster games of recent years, there are many dangerous teams standing in the way of whoever wants to lift the title. On paper at least it looks as if Dublin wouldn't necessarily be the strongest in Leinster

Its probably the strongest all round Wicklow squad at u20 (or old u21) I can remember. We got to a leinster final at minor at some stage in the 90s but dont recall this team as it progressed to u21. I dont think its a vintage Dublin team they are up against. For example there are about 4 Kilmacud Crokes players on it but only one of them played in the all ireland club final (the full back Theo Clancy who is very strong).
But who know on the day.. Dublin will still represent a huge step up from Wexford, Waterford etc. And the minors last year were going also going strong until they met Kildare and were well beaten.

That is next Tuesday. Good analysis though. I've said earlier that Dublin may not be the strongest team in Leinster.

Wicklow Hurlers away to Sligo this weekend. Yes Wicklow are already qualified for the semi final, but I'd imagine Casey will use the game to build up to confidence of the team after last year's debacle. We drew with Sligo last year. We are at a higher level than Sligo when everyone is available. With respect, I hope we confirm that we are the superior team on Sunday.

Is there definitely a semi final? I've seen conflicting reports with some last weekend saying the win in Donegal all but guaranteed a final spot vs Meath, while others say there is a semi.

I see Michael Boland scored 2-17 in a Dublin league match recently. No chance of a return there?

Best of luck to the lads tomorrow night. It will be close and whoever wins it will be small margins. Hoping naturally that our lads prevail but more in hope than confidence.

It will be interesting to see how Wicklow fare against Dublin on Tuesday night. Quite rightly there is expectations for this current bunch. Dublin will be a stiff challenge; they drew with Kildare recently. Kildare and Dublin are the standard setters at underage level in the last decade so to play one of them in the championship will tell us where we are at this level. I believe that if this team plays to their potential, they can get the win. Best of luck to the team and management.

Best of luck to our seniors against Wexford tonight. Wexford is always a tough place to go and win. We are in the mix for promotion which is where we wanted to be. We have momentum but the team will need to play well to win this 'must win' game. Fingers crossed we can win and continue our promotion push. Promotion would beca great boost to this young team.

What a game. I thought we had it. Ben Brosnan levelled it with the last kick of the game. Realistically we are done as far as promotion is concerned. Wexford deserved at least a draw. We would have stolen it in truth. Wicklow were poor for much of the game and relied heavily on frees and the penalty. We move on to Waterford.

At least this kills off the promotion talk. We are not good enough for division three - yet, and that is a fact. In truth, I never really bought in to this promotion drive. It became a seemingly possible dream . I had been reading posts in the Wexford Forum the last week or two and on that, opinion seemed to be that they would be a fair few good players short for tonight. I don't know how accurate that was. I'm not going to say - hard luck. I believe you make your own luck and the better you get, the luckier you will get too. We were looking for consistency. It's up to wiser football heads than mine to say whether gifting Carlow a draw, falling asleep against Sligo in the second half, beating London Laois and Leitrim and then drawing with Wexford qualifies as consistency. Either way, a good run in the Tailteann and build for next year is what we need to get down to now and that is as much as I had hoped for when Oisin was appointed.

Disappointing result but not sure we deserved to win the game. I do think that we are making progress and there are signs that there are good young players coming through. Having said that we have a long way to go if we want to play in division three and ultimately division two. If i was to be critical, it would be this; in the big games against Carlow with an extra man, against Sligo in the second half and at home, we didn't get the job done. In fairness against Laois and Leitrim we did. Inconsistency can be an issue with young players. I am hopefully that with the experience gained this year by the players and management will be help if we are in a similiar position next year. We really need to be promoted next season so there will be pressure. One more game in the league then it will the Leinster championship and the Tailteann cup which i hope we can progress to the later stages in.
