Thanks Clooney. Clare were not far off either, and would have almost certainly beaten Limerick, but for Cathal O'Neill. When he left other young men stepped up to the plate.

Well played Limerick. Tipp were favorites to win that. Long may your success continue. Is there any link to watch the game back?

congrats last night......this is a very good side even without one of the top u20s in the country cathal o neill. aidan o connor , shane o drien and adam english are going to be top class forwards on the senior team for the next 10 years. must say tipp have some nice talent coming through also.

Its a disgrace that he could not play in final because of this stupid rule the GAA do a lot right, but then come up with a stupid rule like this not it touch with grassroots, politically correct rubbish .

Hopefully enough og an outcry and they will see sense & revisit this rule next yera

It was a terrific game Adam English goal superb overall Limerick more balanced team deserved win

Great performance really. Couple of lads who can definitely make the step up.

It's strange Clooney but other Limerick forwards have stepped It up in the absence of O'Neill and in the longer term this will help them. In the Clare game a few of the other good Limerick forwards were standing back letting O'Neill lead the charge but since then they have taken on the mantle and look serious players themselves now because of that. We looked to have found a few defenders in the full back line as well, they made a few mistakes as well but at times they were 1 on 1 with Tipp forwards and no help within 50 yards of them and won a lot of those individual battles.

Updewell I'm in agreement, think definitely 2 or 3 defenders who will add something in next few years..I like the tackling and very few frees conceded..also can I just compliment ref last night,he really helped with flow of the game and didn't hand cards out Willy nilly..he also allowed physical contact from both sides..very enjoyable game of hurling..

Tremendous display by the U20's last night which is in marked contrast to the first night out against Clare when I thought they were just downright awful. It was a really good game to watch. Standard of play was very good and there were some excellent scores take. I love to watch good forwards doing their business and it's a pleasure to see players take scores like what we saw last night.

Adam English started like a man on fire in the first 10 minutes but I thought that Shane O'Brien and Aidan O'Connor were excellent I also thought that Coughlan and Hurley had really good games at half back. The work rate and application right throughout the team was really good and it will take a very good team in the final to beat them. Limerick have a very good record in U20/U21 finals unlike minor which we can rarely win - 1984 is the last I think?

Totally agree re Limerick forwards v Clare. Now Clare's Savage work rate on the night had an awful lot to do with it, but five our forwards didn't fire that night. After the cork & Waterford games I wondered were they standing back to let O'Neil preform. Mullins might have had very little time with O'Neil and when he came in the the other five just didn't know their roles. I'm not sure but it was a different forward unit without him.

Completely agree. Which couldn't have been said after Clare game. Always amazing how games bring on individuals. Really like the look of Thomas at 2. Reminds me of a young Sean Finn at that age group

Good win for Limerick; quite a bit off sync, though.

Great performance from Tipp; fought like lions, a bit unlucky with their shooting. Didn't give an inch, just ran outta steam. But everything that shows pride in the jersey.

Great to see Mike Casey get MOTM, after his tough 2-3 years with injury. Great again to see Hegarty, not the avalanche of points, but the amount of work that that man puts in all over the field is immense.

And when you see Tom Morrissey coming into form, like today, you know the Limerick championship team is about to crank into full gear. He's a talisman for this team!

Great win considering they were anemic in that first half. The ref was terrible throughout. He's a bad ref but doesn't like limerick. He's a ref where you have to hit the deck yo have any chance of a free.
Tipp were good for long spells and if their accuracy was better then they would have put it right up to Limerick . Limericks shooting was woefully inadequate. Literally awful.
Hegarty was a colossus, was getting nothing off the ref. Tom Morrissey came good eventually.. he was lucky to not be subbed earlier. Gillane was outstanding again..
Nash was good when they needed him to be and Finn came good. Does anyone else think Finn dallies on the ball abut too much.. Both Finn and Byrnes did some awfull silly things. Eventually they both came good.
I was delighted for Boylan. He made a big difference. And Flanagans pass was sublime for the goal. .
It ll be interesting to see what type of Limerick team gets named next week..Will they go full pelt at Clare ? I can't see the necessity.

I saw at least 6 struggling towards the end of the match with knocks. That'll dictate next weeks team.

U20s won't play next week and at this stage it's 4 weeks to Munster final-is it risking a bit of rustiness resting fellas next week. I say go on and take on Clare full tilt and let the cards fall whatever way they do.

I was very frustrated at half time and indeed for a significant chunk of the second half. Though our full back line was good all the way through and Nicky was unbeatable but we struggled up the field. Thought Hannon was good at centre back but both wing backs were struggling and Hayes was wasted as a corner forward. I really thought Hegarty and Gillane were crucial to the win. DO'D was our best midfielder and no question about it. Cathal O'Neill can be happy with his display which ended with a leg injury and our subs - Reidy, Boylan and Flanagan made a big difference.

Looking ahead to the next day, I see no reason for Limerick to go to Ennis with a full deck. We've earned the right to pick the team that suits ourselves and I'd like to see a number of changes. I particularly don't want Gillane starting and I'd like to see Kyle Hayes back at 7 where he can dominate the game from.

We can then sit back in the final week and let Clare and Waterford fight it out for the pleasure of playing the Green Machine in the Munster Final. I'll be fascinated how they will approach that last match assuming that they are both through at that stage.
