Is it true that the loser of the Inter champ final in Monaghan now goes Senior?
Madness! Mind you we did relegate 3 in Inter this year in Meath!!

Was it now always the case the second place league time went up?
I'm thinking currin 2011 and Inniskeen 2017 - perhaps I am wrong?

When the league was a double league system with 18 games, if a team won the double then second place in the league would go up. That was a bit harder to justify this year. In intermediate they had 2 groups of 5 and one round of games. Donaghmoyne topped one group, Killanny the other I think. Both these teams made the final too. Is this enough to promote Killanny??

The championship was basically the same format only this time Emyvale topped one group and Doohamlet the other. Neither reached a final so I don't think it would be right to promote either. So Aughnamullen is probably the correct team to go up even though they only finished second in their league group and 3rd in the championship group.

A lot of well matched teams in the division

How much is that costing our co board?

A disgrace.
Over the past 2 years close to €500+ spent on a senior team that hasn't/won't win anything

Now with all the club football finished, will there be any fresh faces called into the county setup? There has been a few lads this year I've seen who have been impressive - Shane Woods and McNulty from Inniskeen, Liam McDonald Donaghmoyne, Jason Duffy Aughnamullen, Eddie Walsh Killanny, James Wilson Toome, Daragh McElearney Drumhowan

Well it ended for Scotstown today. Never showed and chance of winning it from.the throw in.This was predicted after the county final. Glen and Kilcoo will be a great match.

Unfortunately the absolute dire nature of our senior championship over the past 4-5 years was well shown up today. Scotstown coasted in first gear to the last 2 championships hardly breaking sweat. Not a club to even mount a half decent effort against them

Today they looked a junior outfit. Far too small , light and way off the pace. KH yet again let himself down. Mc carthy not at races - Darren tried hard but best days well behind him. Rory also very poor today on kick outs and should also have seen red.

Banty has tough year ahead. Only Scotstown guaranteed starter is Rory which shows how really poor we are.

Clontibret, Ballybay both in terminal decline , Carrick , Inniskeen, Aughnamulen, Donaghmoyne will all be trying to stay senior next year. After todays hammering Donaghmoyne will be favs to go down - last few times they went up they barely got a win in senior. All looking a bit like covid. Depressing times ahead I think.

Well in fairness Monaghan have had some run since 2010. This decade will be challenging, derry, armagh all rising. Club football in monaghan is not strong. A fact.

Said it earlier this year, the standard of club football in monaghan across all 3 divisions is poor and this observation was confirmed today.. I couldn't get over the difference in the size and conditioning today between scotstown and glen.. men against boys.. a ulster title is as far away as ever for scotstown..

This is the day the music died in terms of this Scotstown team winning an Ulster Club title. They were unlucky in 15 and 18 and probably their best shot would have been 19 but they were so focused on Cross that they took their eye off the ball for Clontibret.
Even if they had beaten Glen yesterday hard to see how they would have competed against a Kilcoo team that would have had the cobwebs blow away in a fortnight following their run out v Ramour on Saturday.
No team from Cavan or Fermanagh have won an Ulster Club. Of the 7 counties that have, our wait since Blayney in 1991, is the longest by 18 years when St Galls last won for Antrim in 2009. Based on the strength of the Ulster Club at the minute, it's hard to see how that wait will come to an end anytime soon.

Monaghan are not alone, in Tyrone there are about 6 good teams in senior, the rest are average. Lots of good players scattered around clubs. Bottom ten of div 1 and top ten in div 2 are equal.

our senior championship needs a major revamp, far too many one sided games,
A Format like The Kerry club structures
Still retain your single league, Junior , intermediate and senior championship
then an a separate an all-county senior championship. With regional teams, no back door. Straight knockout.

1[Killanny, Corduff, Magheracloone]
2[Clones, Killeevan, Currin]
3[Aghabog, Eire og , Sean's]
4[ Monaghan Harps, Cremartin]
5[Rockcorry, Drumhowan, Doohamlet]
6[Blackhill, Toome, Oram]
7[Emyvale , Tyholland]

Worth a try for a year or two.

Don't live in Monaghan so don't get to many club games but know Scotstown well out in front of other teams. Which based on yesterday's display doesn't bode well for monaghan football going forward. Might be a few tough years ahead before solid underage lads come through. A lot of the senior players have too much mileage and sadly the summer gone may have been their last chance of doing something.
