You can see why see plays with the Pats. The female equivalent of the great Paddy Keenan.

Like Paddy I think Kate has retired from inter county too soon. She certainly deserves great thanks for her contribution to Louth over the years. Hopefully like Paddy she will continue playing for Pats.

Can any team challenge the Mary's this year lads?

Mochtas possibly but Marys strength in depth especially with their new inter county signing via Westerns/Inniskeen will take serious stopping.

It's the Marys to lose. It's very hard to see them not winning Joe Ward for a historic fourth year in a row. Only one club have done this and that it was the Blues back in the early 1960s. I can see three clubs that might catch them on the hop.

1. The Mochs are probably the best team to challenge the Marys. Ever since they won promotion to the Senior Championship in 2018 they have reached their first Senior final in 2021 and won two Division 1 titles in 2023 and 2025. With the lennons and Byrnes in their team they will be a threat.

2. The Jocks of been the success story of the last ten years. In 2015 they beat their near neighbours Mattock in a Senior relegation play-off and since then they have never looked back. They finally won the holy grail in 2020 and won it again in 2021. With Sam Mulroy in your team you always have a chance.

3. The Blues are the Kingpins of Louth football and if one club that would love to stop the Marys equalling their four in a row from the 1960s it's them. The Blues beat the Marys in the group stage so they won't fear the Ardee men. The Blues are very hard to beat in finals. The lost two Senior finals they lost were after replays in 2011 to the Pats and 2022 to the Marys.

One club which looks to be building nicely for the future is St Patrick's of Lordship. The glory days of Paddy Keenan and the Finnegans et al may be well in the past now, but they are the reigning minor county champions and last night beat Geraldines in the final of u18 League Division 1. Also are reigning Junior 2A champs

Yeah congratulations to the Louth team. Colin Kelly's son had some game. He scored 11 points including one 2 pointer. Definitely one for the future.

The Pats what a club. They won four Joe Wards in five years between 2011 and 2015. They could of won five in a row only for the Blues to beat them in the semi-final in 2013.

They were beaten in a replay Ollie. Colin Goss was injured and they had a man sent off. The Pats were very harshly treated that day.

That's right Greengrass. The Pats got their revenge when they beat the Blues the following year at the semi-final stage.
