Well done lads, Wexford were no yellow bellies, leading by 4 in the first half with great scores from play. TBH though we were in trouble at that stage. Conditions were terrible but both teams had to deal with it. Eventually the class players we have stud up, Ciaran Downeys first goal was a peach, and pretty much turned the game. As the old saying goes goals win games and we could have got more. Wexford never gave up, but they had no real goal chance which they needed. Good team, they will go far in the TC. Best of look to Wexford. Sam the Man steedied the ship, and thank God we have him. Bring on the Lilywhites and another adventure in Croke Park...happy days ninjasmyth (Louth) - Posts: 739 - 14/04/2024 19:28:29 2537809 Link 0 |
Louth going well and should be looking to beat Kildare for sure. It'll be a close affair. realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8678 - 14/04/2024 19:45:42 2537811 Link 0 |
Right lads, big game coming up next weekend against the Lilywhites. Some good player like Feeley, Masterson and Kelly. See Flynn is out. This is a great chance to get to another Leinster final. The wide open spaces of Croke Park should suit this goal hungry team. What's your thoughts in advance of the double header, might be a decent crowd at it, Kildare are well supported and I think we will travel for this big day out at HQ ninjasmyth (Louth) - Posts: 739 - 20/04/2024 11:09:29 2539184 Link 1 |
why was the Wexford match played in Portlaoise? moresthepity (Louth) - Posts: 231 - 22/04/2024 09:27:45 2539707 Link 0 |
It was down for either Portlaoise or Tullamore when the fixtures first came out.

Louth are the bookies favourites for this one which never suits Louth. The past two Championship meetings with Kildare wee got two hidings of them. It's the first time since 1998 that Louth have reached two Leinster semi finals in a row. You have to go back to 1958 for the last time Louth reached back to back Leinster finals.

deserved favourites though. Beat Kildare in each of the last two years plus got to Leinster final in 2023. Not to mention Kildare lost all their league matches and barely scraped over Wicklow in the first round. We pulled away from Wexford in the second half despite the unimpressive start. Kildare will be comfortable playing in Croke Park but our lads have played there plenty in the last couple of years as well moresthepity (Louth) - Posts: 231 - 22/04/2024 13:20:09 2539853 Link 0 |

Big win, well done, U20 is only a step away, and yourselves and Meath have something to work with! realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8678 - 24/04/2024 22:50:18 2540508 Link 1 |

Great win for louth today. Shows that it was the players that got to lenster final last year not mickey harte. For the final would you defend and lose by around 8 or go for it and risk losing by 25. Lúla571210 (Louth) - Posts: 63 - 28/04/2024 17:34:49 2541216 Link 0 |
God that's depressing to read. Dublin have he mentally frazzled after two decades of bullying....What good is losing by 8?

I agree. In the League game last year V Dublin, we just set up camp in our own half and we're competitive all game losing by 7 in the end In the final, we seemed to have went man for man and got totally destroyed. It will be interesting to see what way we set up for it DundalkGael (Louth) - Posts: 918 - 28/04/2024 18:42:15 2541238 Link 0 |
id be wary of going too defensive, meath did that in 2019 leinster final and kept it to 0-5 to 0-1 at half time but continued in 2nd half and although dublin only had 0-12 on board by 60 mins meath couldnt score at the other end , then dublin still burned them with fitness in last 10 mins nd won 1-17 to 0-4. westmeath did similar in 2016 kept dublin to 2-18 but could only get 0-9 themselves. i think a score of 4-20 to 2-13 looks better than 2-17 to 0-8 or something dickie10 (UK) - Posts: 777 - 29/04/2024 10:17:50 2541396 Link 0 |
