The Jocks have come along way since beating Mattock in a relegation play off in 2015. Beating quarter finalists in 2016, beating semi finalists in 2017, beating finalists in 2018 and 2019. Winners in 2020 and 2021. I'm tipping all mid Louth clubs to win their respected championships and all Drawda clubs as outsiders." How Many Teams have done 3 in a row? The great Pats, Mattock and recent Blues teams didn't do it but is was more competitive then. The good Mary's team of the 50's did not do it either. Cooley - 70s Blues - 60's" The Drawda Independents were the first team to do the three in a row. They did this between 1900 and 1902. But the first two finals were walk overs. The next team to win three in a row were the Tones. They did this between 1925 and 1927. The 1925 final was a walk over the Clans who ironically were going for three in a row having won in 1923 and 1924. The Blues are the only club to win four in a row. They did this between 1961 and 1964. They reached final in 1965 only for the super Rats to stop them in the last all senior Drawda final. The Blues won the Senior in 1966 and 1967. Cooley did three in a row between 1976 and 1978 and the Blues won it between 2017 and 2019. The Jocks are looking to join that famous list. Kevin was a great one who gave it all for Louth. His sideline ball on 22/09/57 changed our lives. Never thought then that we would be still waiting for the next one. Thanks Kevin. May you rest in peace.. Good to see Patsy Coleman ,Sean Og Flood, Jim McArdle and Frank Lynch at the funeral. There may have been others. It was a very moving tribute to a great man. Congratulations to Glen Emmets on retaining the Division 3a title. Madness from Louth GAA to not allow them promotion last year as no one even laid a glove on them. They may find the intermediate championship tough due to the opposition they faced all year. Dunleer and Plunketts makes for an interesting match. Either team could win. A year or two ago I put up a post about altering the league formats from div 1 to 3b. It was to turn all leagues into a 10 team league, have 4 divisions and play 2 rounds of fixtures, one with county players and one without. I seen a local reporter running with it a week or two ago in his Drogheda Independant Column. Today I have another proposal for the underage set up. Amalgamations are becoming a joke and are possibly reducing louth's overall player pool. A thought I had today is to have 3 separate formats at each age level from u13 to minor. 2 running concurrently and one to run after the other 2 conclude. 1st format is league and champo for clubs who field on their own. With all rules same as currently. This is ran concurrently with format 2. No amalgamations allowed. 2nd Format is same as 1, league and champo but for clubs unable to field 15 on their own regurly. Reduce the onfield players to 11 a side ( 1 GK, 2 FBs, 2 HBs, 2 MFs, 2 HFs, 2 FFs) and reduce the pitch size (size to be agreed). Amalgamations allowed but at most only two clubs. 3rd format is to happen after format 1 and 2 are complete. Current Louth development squad players are not allowed in this format. This is a regional competition. Clubs are grouped together as regions with the managers from each club within that region as selectors. All regions in one league with the region finishing 1st winning. Regional areas to be decided. This will help to improve the standard of football within the county, as managers can learn off each other and the better standard of player pool will encourage competitive players to work harder and up their game for positions. It will also help improve community spirit between clubs within Louth, as players from different clubs will get to know each other as they train as a region. Examples of regions welcomed.
