Hard to believe it's nearly 50 years since Cooley were flying and it's only recently the three in a row was done again. Hope they come back soon.

I think those men from Cooley would get it hard to win it now 1961. They're all in their seventies.

The Drawda Independents were the first team to do the three in a row. They did this between 1900 and 1902. But the first two finals were walk overs. The next team to win three in a row were the Tones. They did this between 1925 and 1927. The 1925 final was a walk over the Clans who ironically were going for three in a row having won in 1923 and 1924. The Blues are the only club to win four in a row. They did this between 1961 and 1964. They reached final in 1965 only for the super Rats to stop them in the last all senior Drawda final. The Blues won the Senior in 1966 and 1967. Cooley did three in a row between 1976 and 1978 and the Blues won it between 2017 and 2019. The Jocks are looking to join that famous list.

Anyone want to give their thoughts on Championship as we head towards the final few weeks of the league. Where do we see the club teams rank in Junior, Intermediate & Senior? Agaacultural (Mayo) - Posts: 68 - 29/07/2022 07:43:02 2435171 Link 0 |
He sure was MR. He laid on the goal for Sean Cunningham in the great 1957 All Ireland football final. Another one from the 1957 team that leaves us. RIP Kevin.

Kevin was a great one who gave it all for Louth. His sideline ball on 22/09/57 changed our lives. Never thought then that we would be still waiting for the next one. Thanks Kevin. May you rest in peace.. Good to see Patsy Coleman ,Sean Og Flood, Jim McArdle and Frank Lynch at the funeral. There may have been others. It was a very moving tribute to a great man. Congratulations to Glen Emmets on retaining the Division 3a title. Madness from Louth GAA to not allow them promotion last year as no one even laid a glove on them. They may find the intermediate championship tough due to the opposition they faced all year. BluenYellow (Louth) - Posts: 128 - 08/08/2022 13:24:35 2436652 Link 0 |

Dunleer vs Plunketts will make a tasty affair they have history in these relegation/promotion play offs with Plunketts usually edging out the win. Dunleer will run them close but I fear they don't have the forwards to do enough damage to come out on top. My Predictions for the Championship : Senior : Martins Inter : Cooley Junior : Glyde BallinLowHai (Louth) - Posts: 19 - 09/08/2022 11:04:44 2436768 Link 0 |
Totally agree, dunleer are always the nearly men. The bridesmaids. Plunketts are used to the relegation scrap and should have the experience to pull through. How many times have plunketts been in the relegation battle between league or championship in the last few seasons ?! Could be a matter of time. A cat only has 9 lives ! Anyway my championship predictions: Senior: martins Main challenger: Mary's Outsider: Mochtas Inter: Cooley Challenger: hunterstown Outsider: kilkerley Junior: Glyde Challenger: lannleire Outsider: stabannon Great to see folks on here with club interests ! A year or two ago I put up a post about altering the league formats from div 1 to 3b. It was to turn all leagues into a 10 team league, have 4 divisions and play 2 rounds of fixtures, one with county players and one without. I seen a local reporter running with it a week or two ago in his Drogheda Independant Column. BluenYellow (Louth) - Posts: 128 - 12/08/2022 17:10:45 2437215 Link 0 |
Too Complex CB to monitor Amalgamations and have maybe have two at most. LGFA have this rule BTW and seems to work well. MR2 (Louth) - Posts: 44 - 15/08/2022 14:14:57 2437513 Link 0 |
