Replying To carlowman:  "St Mullins made no mistake today against Rangers who were slow to get out of the traps.
The match was nearly over after 20 minutes with the Rangers down to 14 men and tye Saints scoring almost at will in the first half.
The Saints were very fresh and direct and took on the Rangers rearguard with speed and Rangers had no real answer as ST Mullins used their extra man wisely.
It got very hot a few times on the sideline as Rangers became frustrated with their display.
St Mullins really did win this championship the hard way with 2 replays.
James Doyle was man of the match..another fine display from this very skilled player."
Maybe Paddy Boland should've got it. But fair play to James for missing half of his pre booked family holiday with his wife and parents to play in the game. And to his father for staying back to support him as well.

Attention switches to football now. Junior c kicks it off tonight with senior starting tomorrow with an Interesting clash between rathvilly and palatine. I think all the championships look fairly open this year with several clubs in contention at each grade. Hopefully the long lay off doesn't effect the quality like it did in the early stages last year and teams have been able to get challenge matches.

Still no word on a senior manager. Would have been nice to have one in place for the start of the championship

Eire Og vs Clonmore
Tinryland vs Old Leighlin
Bagenalstown vs Mount Leinster

I think old leighlin will beat tinryland which is probably the closest to an upset.

Other than that I'd expect eire og rathvilly and bagenalstown to win.

Tinryland could be in trouble this year. Big game for them this weekend.

Heard this morning on the grapevine who the new Carlow football manager is.

It's going to be a disaster, sorry folks.

Looking in from the outside, seemed like ye really needed a Carlow man over the team.

Carlow deserves better.

Heard Billy O'Loughlin is the new man in charge, not quite a Carlow man but close enough, is he the right man for the gig? I fear not but time will tell

That's not true. Nobody has been appointed. A name has been leaked, but it's someone from west of Ireland, and he has not been ratified. And might well not be.

Former Roscommon keeper from about 25 years ago. Bit of a character by all accounts, he was if Ii remember from games on TV a 'fly''keeper before they became a thing in the GAA. Dunno much an out his management pedigree, about as left field an appointment as it comes IMHO. Still give the man a fair chance, by the looks lof it no one local wanted the gig, Given our standing this is the pool we are fishing in lads, no Mickey Harte for us.

If Mullally is going I wouldn't be surprised, I'd say he would be rated fairly highly and could be in the running for a gig elsewhere.

This can't be ratified surely. Whoever is on the committee that came up with his name should be shown the door as well. Sorry but this is just not good enough. Complete amateur hour stuff.
