Replying To Bimb:  "So who are the free takers in the team?....... Yesterday was nt darraghs best day but he has kept us in many games over the years. How many 45s or frees has conor doyle scored this year for carlow?.......... Was it a typo or just coonsidence that i spelt cinfidence wrong?"
Colm Hulton could take the frees meanwhile one of the fitter players could contribute to the game for the first 50 minutes and then bring on Darragh Foley to close out the game for us, that would be my thinking.

I was lucky to be at both matches.
The hurlers ere really good android were trying hard but we're iutfought tactically.
Our backs were superb and read the Laois attack veery.well.
They had the measure of the Laois men all over the field.
Our forwards put in the hard yards to get first to the ball and then their accuracy was on a different level to Laois

When after HT and all were expecting Laois to belt forward it was Carkow who got the first 2 scores and we could have had.more too ! Mouse was twice denied and Chris Nolan passed when he could have shot himself.
Great finish for the footballers Nd they can ow focus on Wexford. Incredibly well taken goal by Colm Hulton!
The team overall worked their socks off and great to see them get a win after the second half collapse against Laois.
Wexford next and yesterday's win will help their confidence. The kick out or rather us not getting our fair share of possession from our long kick outs is a problem. Good weekend all the same !

Replying To CARPS:  "Isn't it exciting to be in a promotion race again?

I really think we have a great bunch of young players. And I'd be very interested to see what a quality coach, with a good tactical plan, could do with them.

Niall Carew deserves credit for putting the group together, but I agree with the poster above who said yesterday's win was down to the players.

Again, I saw so many strategic limitations."
Okay Carps with all your Intercounty experience, could you please enlighten us with all your boundless strategic ideas?

Can't win our own kickout. 2.dont press the opposition kickout. 3. Waits too long to make substitutions. There's 3 basics that are not being implemented

If you always press the opponents kickout you get less turnovers there and therefore less scores, being as well over 50% of scores come from turnovers. And you don't seem great at winning long kickers which is what you get more of when you press up.

Wouldn't surprise me if this really was management soliciting advice on Hoganstand. Three posts, hmm.

Here's some basic stuff that could be done: use the bench, and use it earlier. I think we only used three subs last weekend, and one was a game changer (Eric Molloy). Why wait until the game's nearly over to change tack? It's a 20 man game now.

Stop the dumb back chat to refs; have you ever seen one change his mind because a Carlow player complained? We are giving away scoreable free positions in every game. I think it was at least twice last weekend.

Slow the game down when the opposition is on a roll. Leix banged over 5 points in as many minutes, and we carried on as normal.

Contest opposition kick outs. Push up on the them. Put 'em under pressure.

And, finally, sort out some kind of kick out strategy of our own. Management is there four years now. That's pretty much the length of World War One. No excuse.

I repeat what I said, the players won that game last weekend. Because they are better footballers than what Leitrim have. But Leitrim were better coached. As were Leix (by a country mile).

not to get ahead of ourselves or anything, but could we get promoted up in longford if we beat wexford saturday and leitrim drop points since we would have them on the head to head on them and longford (if we prevail against of them of course) Might be a slightly optimistic way of looking at it but exciting nonetheless to be back in contention for promotion after a few poor seasons.

Best of luck to theCarlow team tonight, it will be a must win for both in what should be a close match. Let's hope we don't need last minute heroics, we're well capable of winning the boring way!!

No we're not. That was a woeful performance. Management found out again.

Poor result, they need longford to do them a favor tomorrow then we need to beat them and London and see where that leaves it. Our scoring difference is poor too so our path to promotion is narrow. 7 points is particularly disappointing. Aside from laois hard to see any of the other teams surviving in div 3

Terrible result & terrible performance. We never got going. It was like we had done a heavy weeks training as there was no spark at all. Even at 7 points each in the 58th minute I didn't fancy us to win it but to lose by 10 after that is shocking. What sumed it up for me was when we were 7/8 points down near the end one of our half forwards passed the back back to our own half back line when they was space to push forward. Management have a lot to answer for & I don't think they are fit for purpose. Was a great chance at home tonight to really push on for promotion but that is now gone no matter what the maths say.

That was a very difficult watch. I'm with Carps on this. A good summation.

Obviously I'm delighted with the win, but I was disappointed with Carlow and how they capitulated in last 15 minutes. As an outsider, it looked like all is not well in the camp.

Have beat Wexford first.

I take no pleasure in being right. That was a depressive watch last night.

We have a minus 7 scoring difference if we were to win our last two games by some miracle we could go up with a negative scoring difference a first I'm sure which makes it a very unlikely scenario. It would be hard to see anyone bar laois surviving in div 3 the standard is poor. Weakest div 4 in years

Agree with that. It has been a poor standard league this year. Waterford were probably the worst county senior county team I ever saw in DCP a few weeks ago. I thought Wexford were poor enough also, and yet they beat us all over the park. We were steeped to be level with 12 minutes to go.

I can't see us lifting it now to beat Longford away in two weeks specially now they're on a roll. I think if other results all went our way and somehow we went up we'd be back down as quick like Wicklow.
