Too many snobby clubs consider themselves "senior" for that to happen, depsite them not having a hope of winning a senior championship in the near to medium future.

You may well be right but I'd b very interested to hear your rationale on how you come to that conclusion?

I fully agree, but in truth 16 clubs from 39 Football Clubs, mental stuff 40% of our clubs are Senior.

After the play off fixture debacle last year you can certainly put Killybegs down as one.

Ha I will not be drawn into an online feud! Life is too short. But you can probably have an educated guess as to which clubs I am referring to. While I doubt it would happen, I think it would be worth pursuing as it would increase the quality & competitiveness of our championships. But getting the required buy-in would be the problem. It's nice to have one over on you. A gaa expert who gets caught out with his own club. Me thinks you're not really a gaa man. The club is where it all begins and if you don't know about your own club what hope have you of debating about some other club. lol.

Maybe but they always produce great players for the county.

As have some intermediate and junior clubs. Doesnt give them a automatic right to senior status. Killybegs have been flirting with the trapdoor a lot in recent seasons so they are far from the power they once one or still convince themselves to be.

Your entitled to your opinion but your rarely right this past while. If you read all of my posts you would have seen I've had nothing but praise for Patrick in the League matches to date and Ryan has improved with every match. Ryan seems to be enjoying his football again which is great to see. Scenicparish (Donegal) - Posts: 412 - 08/03/2024 16:45:44 2530349 Link 0 |
Would need to be really convinced of the benefits before jumping on board with adopting a 12+12+15 structure. 40% of our clubs are senior, but this number is totally arbitrary. A fair championship could be 24 teams if there were 24 parishes of similar size and 15 smaller ones. SurelyToGod (Donegal) - Posts: 443 - 08/03/2024 18:19:07 2530361 Link 0 |
Would we not be better looking at what Tyrone do. Div 1 senior Div 2 intermediate Div 3 junior The Tyrone championship is the most competitive in Ulster. Whateveryourhavingyourself (Donegal) - Posts: 59 - 09/03/2024 00:09:26 2530392 Link 0 |
Wee bitterness on your part I think. Why would the strongest junior club be even thinking on a team ranked bottom of the pile. Just be happy your club will win the junior A this year and don't be worrying about others. Whateveryourhavingyourself (Donegal) - Posts: 59 - 09/03/2024 00:15:17 2530393 Link 0 |
Because I want a strong club scene in Donegal. Not for clubs to be taking the easy way out for a handy trophy and not self relegated themselves. It's embarrassing and needs to be called out. Not so long ago Na Rossa wernt far off the bottom of the pile and look at them now? I don't recall them looking to drop down to a reserve competition? They moved up the ranks through hard work. peiledoir20 (Donegal) - Posts: 1084 - 09/03/2024 07:51:25 2530399 Link 0 |
They'll probably bottle it like they did last year.

No need for feuds we are all adults here except for 1 or 2 bluffers(1 in particular) - I'm genuinely interested what clubs you consider snobby as a good poster. ?

What is it in your opinion I've been wrong on ?

Why would parish size matter ?? Glenswilly won 3 senior championships in a short space of time with prob the smallest parish in the county. Kilcoo won an all Ireland and look at Slaughtneill did in their pomp - both with tiny parish. Every team has same amount of players in the field - some just work harder than others. eunans4ever (Donegal) - Posts: 1682 - 09/03/2024 09:26:22 2530413 Link 0 |
Are you really interested in a strong club scene in Donegal. Because if you are genuine about that, you should be calling out your club Convoy/Raphoe/Drumkeen for playing an ineligible player in last year's Junior A Championship, or you should be having a collection to pay the fine your club got for doing this. Have a look at your own doorstep before you look at the weaker clubs like my club or Robert Emmetts or Lifford. Don't worry about the Convoy/Raphoe/Drumkeen boys who have gone away you'll poach players from your neighbouring clubs like you always do to replace them for the league like the two Newton boys, a Robert Emmetts boy and I hear your looking after a lad living in Lifford now. If you're predictions are anything to go by lately that means they win it at a canter.
