A couple of the other games this weekend could determine the approach for the Armagh game. Firstly, we have to do our own business and win against Fermanagh. Then, will Louth take another 2 points towards safety from Meath, and can Cork bring Cavan back down towards the pack? Armagh will beat Kildare, leaving them in relegation trouble.

I think Jim could be guarding our game plan a little. I think Jim has a plan for midfield which he is hoping not to have to unveil for another while. I don't think either Jason McGee or Michael Langan, arguably our preferred midfield combination are too far away from fitness, buy will they be used together before Celtic Park?

Is there a lot at stake? It's pretty likely that both will make top 2 and get promoted regardless of the result in that game. I don't see Jim revealing too much in a game like that.

I'd prefer we hold off and lay down a marker in the Division 2 final if we reach it and take home the silverware, as we would most likely face Armagh in that game too. I wouldn't get too worked up about that game in the Athletics Ground.

Yeah I'd say once Sam Maguire participation and promotion are achieved Jim won't be too bothered. I remember in 2014 we were brutal in the Div 2 league final v Monaghan. If I remember rightly the lads did some really heavy training in the buildup and looked totally zapped. But Jim had the long game in mind, and we ended up beating Monaghan comfortably enough in the 2014 Ulster Final.

I know we don't like to be playing teams that we may or may not be playing in bigger games later on in the year.I just wonder though is too much made of this.Managers for the most part know how teams will set up and there are not too many surprises. When you look cross channel big teams will play each other twice in the league and maybe a couple of times in cup competitions and possibly in the champions league and they just seem to get on with it.

The forecast is for a very wet day on Saturday, I suppose as long as it's not too windy it won't be too bad, pity this game wasn't played in Ballyshannon, it would suit both counties better and given it a real derby feel for fans in a venue close to both counties.

Showing a poor knowledge of Donegal geographics with that statement. Does not suit everyone heading to Ballyshannon for a home game.

Aye but their games are usually coming fast and furious, like often they play 2 games per week, so less time to analyze opponents in great depth like we do in GAA,

Here we have >4 months to study maybe 7 or 8 games featuring Derry (And Vice Versa) before Championship, how they setup defensively, how they attack, kick-out strategy and how they use their bench etc.

HSE patient medical records probably lack the level of detail some Inter-county teams have on opposition players ahead of opening Championship matches.

You can't suit everybody, that's just the way it is, poor knowledge of Donegal geographics indeed! that's the best one I heard on here in a while. must be a mid term break thing.
Better playing in Ballyshannon or Ballybofey than trying to get through the traffic in Letterkenny mid day on a Saturday that's for sure. I think we should stop this moving of league games around the county, Mac Cumhaill park is our home pitch and that's were all our home games should be played end off.

Might have been a bit rash there, totally agree about Ballybofey, people from the likes of north Inishowen could get to some away games as quick as Ballyshannon! - Unless of course you are just referring to Tirchonaill :-)
Mid term break! If only I could get one!, distant memory is what they are now. Long time reader, seldom posting on here.
Ballybofey has it traffic issues too, but more central for all, nevermind our better record there.
Let's hope we get the performances and results wherever we play! And more importantly safe travels to all.

Aye no problem,we have a good record in Ballyshannon and playing Fermanagh there would have suited the Fermanagh fans anyway and added to the local derby atmosphere.
You're likely better off not posting here too often, sorry I didn't go off it for lent! I suppose this format would be far too backward for the young crowd with all their apps etc, this old style forum will do me for as long as I have left.
Hope we get the win anyway, might not be as easy as many on here think, Fermanagh are going well but our sharpshooters should pick off the scores we need, worth paying in just to watch Gallen.

Fermanagh will be doing well to be within 10points of us tomorrow.

Saturday at 2pm is a ridiculous time to have a game in letterkenny. Traffic is terrible on a normal Saturday without adding in match traffic.

Why is the game on at 2 on a Saturday? Traffic wasn't too bad coming in from Glenswilly direction.

Was nobody at it. 3,000 odd. If game was in Ballybofey at a proper time, county board would have 2,000 extra supporters. That's another e30,000 on the gate. Money is hard enough got without throwing it away.

I'm saying it all along we're poorly supported. It's excuse after excuse the players and management deserve better. Yet when the tickets for the Derry game are handed out everybody thinks they're entitled to one.. sick listening to it was a Saturday game. Won't travel to ballyshannon, it's only league, there's a recession on as if every other county is booming.

100% You either support your County Team or you dont. Very poor crowd, fantastic Stand and well organised venue. No excuses, with e tickets now, the County Board should be able to prove how many matches you go to and on that basis the Tickets for Celtic Park, Derry should be given out.

Fair play on the win today, by far the better team in the second half. Don't think the performance today was a true reflection of what kind of team we are at the moment but ultimately the scoreline doesn't lie. Always had a soft spot for Donegal (outside of playing Fermanagh of course) so best of luck with the rest of the season.
