You mention the Dublin group game in 2018. Exactly what it was a group game. What about the home game against Tyrone which was essentially a knock out game. You know the one were they beat us by 7 points despite leading by 4 points with 15 mins to go and outscored us 2-7 to 2 in that time? Have you forgot that because it doesn't suit your argument?

Ulster is winnable if we beat a very formidable Derry team in the first match. Dont forget they are at the top table and were very unlucky not to beat Kerry last year. Its a big ask to beat them in their home patch......

I didn't mention it because again it was a group game, no pressure and one we didn't even win. So the two games you mentioned we drew one and lost one. You have very low standards. Which is why you were probably content enough in Bonners 5 seasons in charge we never even made a semi final never mind a final. In Jim's 4 seasons on charge we made 3 semis and 2 finals and won one of those. Jim will raise the standards of his predecessors once again and show you what's possible Declansboy. peiledoir20 (Donegal) - Posts: 1076 - 12/02/2024 13:52:49 2525653 Link 0 |
Dublin or Kerry would have to be at their very best to make it out of Ulster. At the present time, any team capable of beating Derry in Celtic Park have a serious chance of going the distance.

Good managers will only get you so far declansboy, a great manager like Jim won us an All Ireland and at least might make us contenders for one again, that's the difference.

Derry are beatable and it's probably the best time to meet them. Derry will have ambitions of winning an all Ireland this year.. Micky Harte is there for one reason. With games coming thick and fast from now on this will test squads. There will be injuries but every county will be hoping there big players will get an injury free run.. roll on Celtic park tickets will be scarce but hopefully the real supporters will be looked after. That's the great thing about season tickets you know god willing you'll be there..

So you consider losing by 4 points to Mayo, losing to dublin and a draw to kerry as being competitive? Going by that standard, losing by 4 points or less to Derry will make us competitive this year. FootballGuy (Donegal) - Posts: 260 - 12/02/2024 14:56:42 2525677 Link 0 |
No pressure in a super 8 game. This answer sums you up. Haven't a clue lol

He win us one but lost us one against the worst Kerry team ever to win an all Ireland. A lot of people ignoring this fact. Ha

Pressure comes in the knock out games Rory and Declan never won one. That sums his time up. Hope you have more of a clue on this week's predictions than you had in week one. 6 was it? LOL peiledoir20 (Donegal) - Posts: 1076 - 12/02/2024 15:21:54 2525688 Link 0 |
Yea he did he beat Dublin minors in 2014 semi. So wrong again. lol. Could you confirm if he was the first donegal manager to do so and if he is the only manager to win junior intermediate and senior championship. In Donegal. I await your answer.

Once you're still allowed on I'm safe enough. I'm not asking yous to respond to my posts I'm just giving an honest opinion. This forum seems to be attack after attack on Rory. I don't think I deserve that for giving my opinion. I'm not on here for likes. I'm a very knowledgeable gaa person which probably won't sit well with the most of yous. As for standing up for ex managers, I'll tell you this I've followed my county all my life and if I feel good people are being poked fun at il not be shy in answering.. as I said before I have no time for wafflers.

Our players are up there with the best in the country and if you can't see that, then you aren't looking close enough. In my opinion the squad is more talented than the 2012 team. We have far better footballers now compared to that team but to be classified as the same level as them, we need to win the big one. It definitely can be argued that the 2012 team had better man markers. An area where we are badly lacking this time around.

Donegal not been the same since they lost to Cavan In Ulster final. Bonner was preparing for Dublin and took his eye off the ball
FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2840 - 12/02/2024 20:07:35 2525743 Link 0 |
Bonner was never going well after that defeat, he really should have stepped down afterwards. I think the story was they were doing too much heavy training in preparation for Dublin and took their eye of Cavan and that was a fatal mistake on Bonners part imo.
