I know you have to move on but we can't afford to lose the likes of Karl lacey especially outside the county. No issue with the fence or blinds being pulled down. I don't imagine you can walk into the Tyrone training field for example as easy as you can when it comes to Donegal. We should be supporting this and not making sly remarks for a few likes. I hear the team are going abroad next week at some point on the team holiday. Talk of Dubai and Portugal. ? Noone is saying that privacy isn't required. It just seems an awful lot of money to be spending when other cheaper options could maybe have been considered. It looks as though the intention is for funds to be raised by individuals and businesses in London who have a strong connection. I know others have mentioned this before, but we should be doing this far more often - looking to the Donegal diaspora. Send recently required Donegal GAA greats to the likes of London and New York/Boston, have a dinner dance and Q&A session etc as part of a fund raising initiative. Agreed, Donegal has been way behind some other counties in terms of tapping into the good will of the diaspora in the UK and US in particular. I recall Kerry raising around a million from the US a few years back, they flew some Kerry greats over to attend fund raising events, no reason why we couldn't have some players from the 92 & 2012 winning teams over doing the same. There's plenty of successful people in London, New York, Boston & Philadelphia with Donegal connections that if asked might get on board. True having Sam Maguire for the trip would have made the fundraising a bit easier but it's the presence of the old All-Ireland winners to give the speeches, pose for the photos and shake the hands that would have played the lion's share in bringing in the funds. Replying To gunman: "There is a lot of talk about the quality of teams in East Donegal.The fact that the Finn Valley teams are on the border makes no difference to the quality of the teams.There are 4 teams on that road ie McCools,Red Hughs,R.Emmets and lifford and there are 4 teams across the fields from them ie Aghyaran,Castlederg,Urney and Strabane. McCools Big town . On the way back ,should have been doing better Red Hughs Sort of steady at Intermediate grade,Probably ok for half a parish.Strong GAA tradition for over 100 years Lifford No strong GAA tradition R Emmets.The big puzzle.Castlefinn was always traditionally a GAA town going back over one hundred years.It is hard to understand how they have gone so far down.They must have taken their eye off the ball with the underage or something.Granted they are only half a parish too with Urney in the other half of the Parish another area with over 100 yrs of GAA behind them.There is enough population in the area to be doing better than they are" The problem with some of the teams in the East of the county is that they are more interested in the off the ball stuff than playing actual football. Jez lad you must have a bad experience of playing down in the east of the county. It'll left a lasting effect. In some of the east clubs its a dying breed of aul fellas doing the off the ball dirty stuff, most lads just want to play football. Ballyshannon has always been a lucky hunting ground over the years; almost the mirror image of ODP. I see that we are due to play Kildare in Dr Cullen Park, Carlow. It's one of the only intercounty grounds that I haven't been to, I always thought that if we ever were to play there, that we'd be in a terrible state (Division 3 or 4).
