But I posed the question in the context of, was this the source of Aidan O'Rourke originally being linked to the Donegal job? Because i still fail to see where Aidan O'Rourke would have secured his nomination. Its certainly not on the strenght of his CV, at either club or county level. And all this is appears to be strictly confidential, at the behest of the said former chairman. Because, in my eyes, its clear that he was hoist upon Paddy Carr. If anyone, from any club, can say yes, we nominated Aidan O'Rourke for the position of Donegal manager, then I will gladly say that his appointment was above board, and the 3 person committee were acting within its remit. Otherwise, my position will remain that one or other of the 3 person committee decided that Aidan O'Rourke was the best person for the job, but short of a nomination, decided that they would circumvent that by creating the title of Head Coach. The review doesn't help the academy, another 2 months on hold. If I was on the cb and my presence there was annoying a huge tranch of GAA people in the county along with our most decorated footballer ever as well as 40 coaches many ex county footballers themselves, I would remove myself from the equation. I would not want me to be seen as an impediment to the bigger picture involving the development of our youth and the future of donegal football at intercounty level. The cb have already cleared lacey of any wrong doing in relation to the academy in their statement. Why the review by cp?? What if this review says otherwise?? Does this mean lacey, 40 coaches and cn who said there was no wrongdoing all have to go??? Where will donegal gaa be then?? I can tell you what the result of the review will find, it will endorse the cb statement regarding the academy and then addu sure lads some things could have been handled a wee bit better, but sure nobody meant it that way lads. If not nominated by a club then he probably was linked to the post the same way he was linked to the jobs in Roscommon, Antrim and Down, ie: He applied for them himself. I think it's a huge stretch to suggest the former chairman had head hunted him and an even bigger stretch to suggest another Donegal coach was a link just because he worked with him 9 years ago (based on your article). I honestly don't think our county board will have had the wherewithall to head hunt anyone. The fact that the county board have not been transparent on any of these matters simply gives rise to silly rumours. The CB would be best to spell out how the entire process evolved but lets hope the investigation will do that, but I'll not hold my breath. Lot of new Donegal posters on this thread this last while, would make you wonder a bit if certain people think it's a good place to get their msg out? I hope to God this mess is sorted out soon, I don't know the ins and outs of it but I know enough to know it is a mess of their own making and the CB has to be there to do what's best for GAA in this county, I have no confidence in the current set up at all and I don't think the players do either, just my opinion of course for what it's worth. All of this though is still in the hands of the clubs. Even if the report glosses over the issues, the clubs still have it within their power to bring back the no confidence motions from earlier this week. Someone mentioned the people of the county board could sue if they were asked to resign / lose a no confidence vote. I'm no solicitor, but that would be crazy. Why won't the people causing this unraveling shambles just get out of the way? We won't have a county setup soon enough. Or an underage setup worth talking about.
