Replying To liosbreac6265:  "Disgraceful how he has been treated"
He is a good baller but blown up to be better than he is. Does he do it at club level every week? Absolutely not. Has he made any inroads into starting after 3 years on the panel under 3 different managers? Gone backwards it looks like, all 3 managers hardly missing a trick when it comes to him. I do believe he is the future along with the younger squad players and few U20's look bright.
The jury is still out on Duggan for the moment and a big few years coming up for him now with club and county.

I'd be asking what's the story with Doherty not getting game time? I know he was away for a few weeks but good enough to see more game time given how well he played last year under Billy.

How do you know what he does with Clonguish every week? Did you see him with the county u20s last year? He was outstanding. For a "Leitrim" man you seem to think you are in the know when it comes to Longford football. You clearly don't have a clue as he is consistently the club's best player. No player has ever done it every week, not even Barden did it every week so take your nonsense elsewhere and stop trying to run a good young man down.

Get your head out of the clouds! I live on border and know longford inside out. I've seen him in a good few club games last year and I'm running him down. Why isn't he starting for longford or even in the first 2/3 subs?
He had a good year with the 20's I agree

Lios breac Ive already called Williesboy out on another issue a few days ago when he was purporting to know all about the strength of the Longford Panel, when asked to justify this he went quiet, then I asked a few days later and he claimed he backed his theory up which he didn't!! Nothing worse than a nosey outsider looking for and spreading idle gossip.
I've many great memories of playing in Allen Park especially at underage when as young lads we would go exploring in that monsterous clubhouse of yers, from memory basketball courts and all, this building was as a never ending adventure to us !! . A lovely field to play on also though a bit hard in the summer!! .

I don't know how anyone from another county could take such a keen "interest" in Longford, so he is clearly someone from here and a very bitter individual with a chip on his shoulder. Who comes on forums anonymously to run down youngsters? That's good to hear! There is no issue with it being hard at the moment!!

Pretty sure he started almost every game last year under billy as well as u20 and was one of our higher scorers in league? Unless I'm watching different Longford games than the Leitrim guy.

Well he said he saw him in a good few (an unknown quantity!!) club games but he never mentioned the County games that you were at so I think it's time Williesboy took a hike!!

Willies comments are comments you get from a WUM. People should ignore his comments. He is probably posting comments to get a reaction. For all we know he is a Longford man as he seems to know Longford football scene better than most of us.
Best thing is to ignore his posts. This is a forum for opinions whether lighthearted or controversial. One thing we should not do is criticise players.
We are all frustrated and some of us vented our frustration here but to criticise or run down players is unfair. OK we may feel that some players might not be good enough but they try their best. They have put in a lot of effort over the past six months or so.
Duggan was a bright prospect last year and I was looking forward to seeing him this year. For whatever reason he is not involved is not up to his ability as a footballer.

Never said he wasn't good, I clearly said he is good but people are putting him up there to be better than he is. I hope he proves me wrong and kicks on. Paddy Christie's Job is to get these young lads playing and committed to longford.

Lads, it doesn't take much effort to realise who Williesboy is. He would of seen a good bit of Duggan last year as he would of played a bit of club football with him. But what he is saying about him is not right or fair.

The main point with this debate is that we haven't produced enough young talent over the past few years. Young players like Duggan, Cian Dooner and Daniel Reynolds need to be involved to help the county succeed long term.

Exactly. I think there is lots of good young talent out there but most of them could take it or leave it in regards committing to it

Good to get a win on the board today, hopefully it can create some momentum heading into the championship. McGann was excellent and has to be in any championship 15

Anybody heading to Portlaoise tonight? Hopefully the under 20's can improve on the last day. Can't be much worse can they?!!!

Disappointing result in the minor last night. Wasn't expecting that big a loss. Hopefully we can turn the corner on this poor county streak at the weekend with a good win over Offaly on Sunday. Badly need a boost. Should be expecting to win at home against this particular Offaly side. Predicting Longford by 4.

It would be great to think there would be a win to give players and supporters a boost.

I don't think there is much interest in the game though. The leagues start back in Longford this weekend, albeit without the county senior players, and from my conversations with people, that is where the interest is.

The poor league campaign is the biggest factor in the lack of interest.

Does anyone know if the Tailteann Cup is seeded, and if so, then how will we likely be seeded? I'm thinking that due to relegation we will be third seeds.

Yes Tailteann Cup is seeded [url=]https://www.gaa.ie/football/news/2023-sam-maguire-cup-and-tailteann-cup-structures-explained/. Longford will be 3rd seed in Tailteann Cup based on position at end of the league. I think the 3rd seeds are Longford, Tipp, Laois & Wexford and 4th seeds are Leitrim, Carlow, Waterford and London.
