Not sure about lads from other clubs that are back in."
I had heard Rian Brady, Cian Dooner, Dan Reynolds and Barry McKeon are going fierce well in training. An inside line of Brady, Dooner and Reynolds would be a great forward line definitely capable of winning division 3.

That's great to hear. Sounds like a good line up front for sure. Longford needs all players available to be able to kick on. Any word on the other St Columbas lads? I wonder is John Keegan back in? Maybe the likes of Mull93 or other posters from that neck of the woods might know.

Be hard for Rian Brady to go well when he's not even in the country........

Replying To LongfordgaaAbú:  "Not every parish has a ladies club (none in Newtowncashel or Legan or Killashee, and Slashers has only had a senior ladies club since 2012). So it's been very common in Longford for a ladies senior club to have players from outside the clubs own catchment area. Not that long ago there was only a handful of ladies senior clubs in the county."
I remember both Slashers & Legan have ladies senior teams in the 1980s. Apparently, in the 1960s there were half a dozen Camogie teams in the county.

Yes. There were ladies senior teams at various times in the 1980's in Abbeylara, Ardagh, Ballymore, Carrickedmond, Cashel, Colmcille, Dromard, Drumlish, Forgney, Granard, Grattans, Kenagh, Killoe, Legan, Longford Slashers, Mostrim, Moydow, Clonbroney and Shroid.

Slashers won the ladies senior championship in 1983, Ardagh won it in 1982 & 1984, Granard won it in 1985 & 1986, Carrickedmond in 1987, Legan amalgamated with Ardagh to win in 1988 and Clonguish won it in 1989. Majority of ladies clubs were gone by the time the nineties arrived, and by the mid 1990's it was down to five clubs (St. Helens, Ballymore, Rathcline, Clonguish & Killoe). It started to build back up after that. After the 1980's, Slashers & Ardagh didn't appear again until 2012. Today is almost back to the number of clubs in the early 1980's.

Liam Connerton is back this year and will be a certain starter. He has been tearing it up in the Dublin club scene.

That is great news he was a big loss. Is he back to Rathcline also or just to Longford?

Yes, Robbie is back on the panel along with several other players including the McGivney brothers, Brady, Rogers and Mimnagh. Any word on John Keegan? I didn't see his name mentioned as been one of the players coming back. Must be doubtful he will if he wasn't mentioned as he is one of the best midfielders in the county.

Was typing off the phone and Brady was a typo....meant Foy. Not sure how Brady came up from that! As far as I heard Rian was travelling but for how long I couldn't tell you. He might be back for the league or a few rounds into it.

What do Longford people hope for in this year's league? I see Offaly travel to Longford in Div. 3, a tough one for us, as Longford always pose problems for Offaly.

Great start last night against a very bad laois team it must be said. Mimnagh and reynolds were deadly inside and farrell on the forty was excellent andrew farrell full back solid as a rock as ever

Great win last night. Lots to be excited about for the year ahead. Poor Laois side, but still.
