Replying To slasher9:  "Your always getting digs in at mullinlaghtas standard of football. They are the standard in longford!! shooting yesterday was off but there ball winning and control of the game was sublime! That was a dromard team that wiped killoe off the pitch and mullinlaghta were in cruise control yesterday"
Yesterdays game was poor because Dromard were bad. Last years county final was awful because Mostrim collapsed early and easily. I don't see the digs at Mullinalaghta (I commended them on here many many times).

But you do you.

Very easy in the end for Colmcille, to set up the first Colmcille-Mullinalaghta county final since 1952. Another poor quality semi-final where the opposition `really didn't show up. Very poor stuff from Slashers. But as with Mullinalaghta yesterday, Colmcille took advantage and fully deserve to be in the final. Hopefully we will have an entertaining final if Colmcille hold their nerve on the big occasion. The last time they met in the decider 70 years ago, Colmcille won after a replay! Could history repeat itself?

got to the park Saturday but could not make Sunday so I cant comment on sundays game.

Junior... very poor standard, in fairness to Ballymore they can only beat what is in front of them, easily good enough to be a middle of the road intermediate team now and looking like they will win the final handy enough too. saying that i didnt see grattans! i wont comment on ardagh/moydow junior B team, should never of been playing a juinor A semi final!!

Inter.... great game to watch, very entertaining, K McCann for Kenagh is going to be a huge player in the next few years for Longford. he is a joy to watch, he was unmarkable, some good scores by both teams and very exciting till the last kick of the game! Drumlish always seemed to have that bit more in the forwards and eventually seen the game out, the game was won in midfield as Drumlish dominated around the middle on both kicks outs!

Senior.. a great start by Dromard and looked as if they meant business but after the 10th min mark Mull took over and never looked in trouble even after a few worried moments. again around midfield this game was won, Mull won all the primary possession and some of the scores from McGivney where excellent. mackey played well and is very composed on the ball and with R Brady inside doing loads of damage. Dromard again needed the older lads to satand up which they did, Bull and McGee where excellent but other than that they never looked liked winning the game! the final we all wanted to see, in my opinion the 2 best teams in the county now battling it out for the connolly cup!!!

A lot of that Mullinaghta team has serious strength and height and big men down the middle. How long is this team on the road? I know they lost a Co final about ten years ago. They are very well coached and all seem to know their role but they should be seeing out games better as that Dromard shot near the end did cross the goaline and anything could have happened then. That could catch them in Leinster. They don't do panic at any stage as they only beat Dromard by 3pts. Colmcille will really test them but I expect experience to prevail.

Great win for Clonguish minors after a shaky start, makes up for the women's narrow defeat yesterday. First time to do two in a row and the ninth one in total at this level. There is some hope for the future after a few very disappointing years at senior.

Well done Clonguish, hard luck Killoe. Stronger team won for sure. Not sure about ninth title though... 7 won on your own, 1 won as an amalgamation with St. Vincents.

Well done to Grattans on the Junior Championship title.

Well done to Clonguish and Grattans.

7th Minor title for Clonguish, 2 in a row and clean sweep from schoolboys to Minor for the parish this year. They were by far the stronger team yesterday, just took them a bit longer than they hoped to get on top. I don't think anyone has come close to beating them at Minor this year.

Grattans well deserved their win yesterday. Anyone I was talking to at the game were backing Ballymore but I fancied Grattans. They looked a younger team compared to Ballymore and Ballymore slipped up badly last year when they went in with the favourites tag around their neck.

Eight by ourselves and the one amalgamation with Drumlish. I do not know the reason why the first win in 1940 is not recognised by the county board. It is surely as valid as every other one.

Will Clonguish be the dominant force in club football in a couple of years?

No. Clonguish will be up there but no team is going to dominate in the foreseeable future. Colmcille have a young team, as do Dromard, Killoe will always be knocking on the door, likewise Slashers. Granard are impressive at underage too.

1940 wasn't a Championship win according to this... link. That 1940 claim hasn't been recognised in any official records for over half a century now.

Whilst many Clonguish supporters will be buoyant about their hopes for the near future, there is no guarantee that they will just waltz through to win Senior titles. A Senior Championship is the hardest and most sought after title.

You have to admit, with a schoolboy title, u13 title, u15 title and now an u17 title, they appear well set up for an assault on Senior in a few years time. But there is no guarantee of success in an always hard won Longford Senior Championship!!

Although they have been dominant at all grades this year and been winning a few titles the previous years nothing is guaranteed in sport. Sure you only have to look as far as Granard to see underage success does not carry on to Senior. A lot of factors come into play with young lads once they leave secondary school if they decide to stick at football or not. And if they do will they be even playing it in this country or abroad.
