Mullinalaghta hard pressed to beat Colmcille with both Shane Mulligan and James McGivney suspended.

They won't win a 7th this year. They willhave to make do with the half dozen

Colmcile probably significant favourites but if any team could do it without 2 key players it would be the men from the laurels

Colmcille ground it out, fair play to them. Two very close semi-finals this weekend, as expected. Very difficult to call who will win it. Hopefully the qualify of football is better than it was this weekend.

My previous post about this got blocked by the moderators for some reasn. But how can a player be suspended for an incident in a game that happened in a previous round of the championship. Shane Mulligan was suspended for something that happened in the carrickedmond game but that was only submitted by the carridmond club almost a month later...after Mullinalaghta had already played Granard and Mulligan had played! At this rate, anyone can look at a video of earlier rounds of a championship and find something that was missed, then submit video of it. I have never heard of this ever happening anywhere before

Players don't care about viewing quality, they just want to win, and they're right

I agree that players don't care how the game looks once they get a result. But to be honest, the defensive style that Colmcille are deploying is fairly rancid stuff. I wouldn't mind but they actually have the players and quality to play good football but opt for a safety first approach. Get 13 or 15 behind the ball, then attack laterally in slow phases. It is a pity to see football gone this way. Abbey I feel will adopt a similar style again so I can't see much of a spectacle occurring in the final.

To be honest I thought watching the game today, part of the reason Colmcille were going sideways was because Mullinalaghta had most of their players back defending also. Colmcille are far from the only culprits in this regard. What I would say though is when they went down to 14 they actually went to overdrive with it but you could hardly blame them and I actually thought they did an exceptional job managing the game through that period. Declan Reilly is still one of the best players in the county. Must be one of Longford's best ever players.

The Defensive slow stop teams playing football wins again.. It could be a 5 points to 4 county final but the management and teams wont care if they win.. I see above a comment about not having to listen to killoe, in fairness to them they had a point in the 1st half that wasn't given but was obvious for anyone in the stand and not a word about it since, they lost by a point could have been a different story. Word in Pearse Park yesterday was Dempsey gone and a few players too.. would that mean killoe, clonguish and maybe mullinaghta and Rathcline all changing managements next year.
I do agree Declan Reilly surely up there with Paul Barden as best footballer county has ever seen

Think that will be the end of Luke as a senior manager. He chooses his jobs very carefully and I don't think any team with aspirations of winning a senior championship would appoint him, and he wouldn't take it unless they were among the favourites to win anyways.

Little or no talk of ladies football on here.
I just want to say congratulations to St. Helens on winning the Junior B championship yesterday.
An enjoyable night afterwards, feeling a bit worse for wear in work today!
Senior, Intermediate and Junior A finals all on next Saturday.
