Anyone know when upgrading of seats in the main stand will be finished. Will it be done in time for the first league match.. looked across the other day and it looks well on but never heard of a finish date.

Replying To eoinog:  "So the vibe I'm getting is that come championship time you want to beat New York, lose narrowly to Sligo and have a good run in the Tailteann Cup.. Just suppose that you get beaten in the first round of the Tailteann Cup, what will your response be. ? I expect Leitrim will go and try and win every game in front of them and if that's getting to a Connacht final, losing it plus a few more games then so be it. Andy Moran will relish the challenge"
well said. the people who are happy for us never to progress should just find another hobby and do not bother those who want their county to go places

If we lose the three group games in the Tailteann Cup then I will be delighted we weren't in the Sam Maguire taking 3 hammerings.

Because we all know that progression comes in the hands of thrashings against teams above our level. My bad...

Someone as ambitious as you should really be looking to become president of the GAA. Sligo and Leitrim are basically on par. Would I prefer to go to Waterford/Wicklow/Carlow to play them in a Tailteann Cup game in front of 500 people or host Dublin/Kerry in a qualifiers game in a packed Markievicz Park. It's a no brainer. I am not disrespectful to the 3 afformentioned teams. It's just that we play them year in, year out. There's a big gap between the top 3 or 4 teams down to the chasing pack so I would fancy an odd upset or two

so you suggest throwing the Sligo game if we beat NY?
We know the Connacht championship is redundant for division 4 teams but it is what it is, be better if it was ran now instead of FBD league but turkeys don't vote for Christmas, Connacht council will lose money if it is done away with.

Wow... quantum leap there... do you know what 'throwing' a game means cause it's not what's being suggested. God forbid the management team might put out a weaker team... try a few new players... god forbid they would.

I would love to be heading to Killarney for a weekend in May to play Kerry. Yes we would be bet by double figures but every child in leitrim would be at it to watch Clifford and see a club player they know mark him and it might inspire a generation to play for leitrim and have a positive knock on effect. Let's be honest the chances of this opportunity presenting itself again for a while is slim.

Ask Andy Moran or any player on the panel what they want right now and it'll be promotion from division 4 and to be in the Connacht final. We all know that it could mean a hammering at the hands of Galway, Mayo or Roscommon. But we can only play what's in front of us. Imagine the craic there'd be around the county if we were to get to the Connacht final it definitely would inspire young kids around the county. Ideally the Connacht championship should be structured to have one of the big three either side of the draw. To say we should put out a week team in a Connacht championship game is absurd. The goal every year should be to win every game in front of us. We aren't in the Tailteann cup until we lose so until then it shouldn't be talked about. We may have tough games against new york and then maybe Sligo so to be talking about Tailteann cup now is pointless. If we were to make it to the Connacht final anything can happen in a game of football so Connacht final should be the aim.

What's the outlook like for the minors this year? Are the building blocks for the future in place for a proper Tailteann run in the next 3 - 5 years?

Laugh all you want but he's right... you know it, I know it, everyone knows it. But continue on dreaming... someday you might wake up and smell the coffee.

Any reports of any challenge games? I have to admit I was worried after watching the performance against Galway. They didn't look up to the required levels of fitness, S&C etc.

I see Keaney nominated for player of the week and Casey had big contributions for UL in the Sigerson Cup. Any other Leitrim lads playing Sigerson. Great standard for lads to be playing. Real confidence booster mixing it with division one and two regulars.
