Replying To Weaternpro:  "No final round of Intermediate next weekend"
Senior on Saturday double header in Carrick. Final round of inter on Sunday all games 1pm.

Any whispers of a new selector for the county team?

I can't remember the procedure for the knockout stage of Junior A. Top 3 in each group, is it? Or just top 2?

I read online at the weekend that after Cloone beat Carrigallen that the went straight through to the semi final so I'd assume top 2 in each group semi with second and third in each group playing off for the other places

Yes, my wires completely crossed. I was speaking of the change to the players not been allowed to play with their second team if they get brought on in the knockout rounds of Senior / Intermediate.

I have to say this new format for Championship is providing cracking entertainment. It has been hands down the most exciting senior championship in a long time. All teams playing in the last round had something to play for, their standings dictating who they will play in knockout, quarters and relegation. The scores seem to be up also, which means teams are going for it and not holding back. Teams like Mohill may have a different opinion, but the chances of them drawing all strong teams was very slim and probably won't happen again. This weekend in intermediate, all teams have something to play for, semis, quarters and relegation standings. I hope they keep this format in place for another few years.

Definitely best championship in a few years. Took in two games last Saturday. Just by chance was passing by cloone on Saturday eve and called in to watch Cloone V Carrigallen. Great crowd and atmosphere for a junior game. Next weekend's Mohill V B-more in cloone would have some atmosphere compared to Carrick ( for a neutral ). Could it be St Mary's year ??

I would say Mohill for Senior and Aughnasheelin for Intermediate, a repeat of the 2017 final.

Just after catching up on the Underdogs on the TG4 player and just wondering who the fella is that made the cut he had a Leitrim top on? I know Martin Feeney didn't make the cut which doesn't tell well for county hurling either by the way

Mohill will be hard stopped now after their win on Saturday that may have ignited their season won't have it easy against Leitrim Gaels but think their superior firepower will see them through. Second game will be tough to call would love to see Fenagh win it out but st Mary's are improving each game with a young team with pace to burn and there deeper panel might squeeze them through.
Manor as expected beat Dromahair but got a big scare in the second half as Dromahair brought a nine point deficit back to two but seemed to run out of steam and Manor steadied the ship and won comfortably in the end. Gortletteragh edged out Melvin Gaels in the other game which was of a very poor standard for the most part. Jack Heslin was outstanding scoring points ,setting up scores and catching ball in the middle of the field. Melvin gaels will feel they had enough chances to win it but their shooting and freetaking in particular was very poor. Would still expect Melvin Gaels if they improve their shooting to win relegation final but Dromahair will really fancy their chances.

Aughnasheelin motoring well but their loss to AG yesterday has proved them beatable at this level. Not much between them 2 and Annaduff, imagine it will be one of these 3, don't think the other 3 teams left have the strength in depth to get over a semi final and would need a good bit of luck

It's looking like Allen Gaels and Annaduff are favourites for the title now alright. Aughnasheelin have a smaller squad and with the injuries they already have, any more will leave it difficult for them to win. I think Kiltubrid will fancy their chances against either Allen Gaels or Annaduff in a semi.

Intermediate is always the hardest to predict.

My money right now would be on Allen Gaels. Annaduff will be happy with the extra time off and hopefully get a few of the injuried players back. I'd expect Aughnasheelin to beat bornacoola. Kiltubrid Drumkeerin game is harder to call anyways they drew in the group stages but kiltubrid had a huge win away to glera where as Drumkeerin only limped over the line against Drumreilly so I'd give kiltubrid the nod on this one.

Interesting draws after the slightly one sided quarters, I had it in my head the automatic semi finalists would be kept apart but I was wrong. Anyone want to call them? I am thinking Aughnasheelin and AG but AG and AD will go down to the wire, as could possibly the other semi, good local rivalry there that neither team will lie down

I also thought the automatic semi finalists would be kept apart. It reduces the importance of finishing top 2 in the table. The 2 semi finals are hard to call in my opinion. None of the 4 teams will fear their opponents. Annaduff will have a score to settle with Allen Gaels after getting comfortably beaten in the round robin. The other semi is a local derby with 2 young teams that like to play open football. Kiltubrid's tails will be up after beating Drumkeering handy enough in the quarters.

Was with Ros last year.
Probably the only one of the backroom crew the players had any regard for.

Fenagh and Mohill for the final. I think Fenagh should beat St Marys I think theres been alot of hype around this St Marys team They beat Melvin Gaels, Gort, an injury stricken Bmore and an aging Aughawillan so i don't believe theyv'e shown they're capable of beating fenagh or winning the championship. Definitley a team for the future. Leitrim Gaels and Mohill will be a tight game. In last years semi against Mohill the Gaels were unlucky and probably felt the water break done them a disservice as they'd drawn it back a point before the start of the first quarter. Mohillians always say Leitrim Gaels give them a tough game and with men like Colm Moreton they can more than match mohill physically. That being said i still tip Mohill to get over the line.
