Leitrim Gaels vs mohill- draw"
Fenagh - St Marys / The young , the old , the brave and the bold , fenagh are favourites with the bookies , carrick in bad need of a win , similar to the substantial amount of money i may have on this game , fenagh will feel the pressure . Fenagh by 8

Aughawillan- Melvin / The willies are not get yet , they are still a hard stiff team to beat on there day , i think they will last long enough to reach a semi final . Melvin back to intermdiate where they belong

Bmore - Manor / Ballinamore should win comfortably , manor often get excited about these big wins and get ahead of themselves , they could also end up as a intermidiate team , bmore by 6

LG - Mohill - Transfers in and transfer out , game of the weekend . plenty of controversey on both teams , can see a low scoring affair going to go witha 8 point each draw , Fabrizo romano should start covering these clubs , when does the window close ?

Predictions for this weekend

Senior
Mary's v Fenagh
To be honest, I don't know. If Mary's lose, they could find themselves looking over their shoulders. I still think Fenagh has the best team in the championship.
Fenagh by 1

Aughawillian v Melvin Gaels
Good draw for both teams. Home advantage might swing this.
Aughawillian by 3

Leitrim Gaels v Mohill
I'm still not convinced that Leitrim Gaels deserves to be the bookies favourite for the championship. The return of Donal Flynn was big for Mohill last week. This has all the signs of a draw, but I'll give the home team the nod
Leitrim Gaels by 1.

Ballinamore v Manorhamilton
I was at the Mohill v Ballinamore game last week. Ballinamore fatiqued noticeable more in the second half, although the weather didn't help. Unlike Mary's last week, Ballinamore will not take Manor for granted and will have a plan for Jack Kelly.
Ballinamore by 3

Intermediate
Dromahair v Ballinaglera
Dromahair's form improved as the league ended.
Dromahair by 6

Drumkeerin v Kiltubrid
Drumkeerin is one of the best drilled clubs in the championship. They should be too strong for Kiltubrid.
Drumkeerin by 5.

Junior A
Drumreilly v Cloone
Drumreilly by 2

Annaduff B v Mohill B
Mohill by 6

Aughnasheelin v Manor B
Aughnasheelin by 10

Glenfarne v Melvin Gaels B
Glenfarne by 8

The St.Marys V Fenagh game doesn't appear to be down for decision as per the website.
Doesn't appear in the coming week either. Lads predicting the outcome seem in the know…..

What gives?

I was in at that particular game indeed thanks. It was a good game in fairness but I thought Carrick were the much better team. Very unlucky not to win it. Fumbled at critical times and only for that could have had six or seven goals. Ref also was very generous to Fenagh and they got frees much easier than Carrick. They also got an extremely soft penalty. He was very poor.

Fenagh have a lot of work to do on their defence and offensive sides if they are to prevail. They look very porous and don't seem to have a game plan really.

Was a good game in Carrick Friday night. Carrick have been very hard done by with 2 penalties given against them for nothing in the 2 games but they still probably should have won. Also thought Fenaghs last point was wide.

Soft enough peno but also was the free for Carrick on the Fenagh playing coming out from the back which was then buried into the net.

What's the issue? Games are played all over the country mid week.

Surely this was at the request of the relevant clubs, can anyone confirm or deny?

I have been ducking and diving to a few games over the last couple of weeks and forgive my positivity but what a championship we have at Senior level. Whatever about the quality, the competitiveness and intensity has been fantastic, just shows the league is always just a warm up for champo. I have taken in some enjoyable games and read reports and all others.

One comment that i seen on this forum is relation to Fenagh been porous against Marys irked me a little as i think it was the wrong way around. I have seen Marys twice and twice I have watched them been in control with a lead and not been able to see a game out. Labourous and minding the ball, over and back the width of the pitch going nowhere when they have very capable forwards. 2 soft penalties indeed given against them but they left the door open in both games to be caught when they should have both games killed off, no one to blame but themselves.

Manor are a very balanced team and have some real stand out players, Mohill have been there and done it and have that championship pedigree, Fenagh have 3 points on the board, probably lack a bit of depth but fun to watch, Ballinamore probably yet to fire properly but dangerous if they get going, Leitrim Gaels are 2 from 2 so cant be written off, I do worry about their discipline but they can sort that. Thoroughly enjoying this time of year with massive games to come this week on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Soak it up

Intermediate seems to be Allen Gaels' to lose but if any team can do that, they are your boys. Would like to see them get over the line after last year.

I also took in Junior game yesterday between Drumreilly and Cloone, tough hard hitting game with Drumreilly coming from 5 down at half time to win by 4, Gaffney was the key man and is a proper footballer. Drumreilly will certainly be in the shake up with Aughavas and Aughnasheelin as their nearest challengers in my humble opinion. The neds may just fall short given their limited numbers.

Down have had championship matches on a Monday as far back as 1995. I was at a match there that year
involving Mayobridge that was played in Castlewellan on a Monday evening. A cracker of a contest with a vociferous crowd in excess of 10k enjoying every minute of it.
Difficult to envisage 10k in Aughawillan on a Thursday evening whatever about a Sunday.

Don't read the Observer religiously so could be wrong but seems like it's a few predictions and not many match reports of anything below senior. Not much respect shown to the inter and junior competitions, they take it just as seriously as lots of senior teams.
