Replying To leitrim4sam:  "Does anyone know how our u20 players will fair in the Connacht championship? Will they be released by the senior squad to play?

We play Fermanagh on March 16th and Sligo on March 23rd I think and first Connacht Championship game is on March 19th. First round of senior champ is April 19th. Half our senior squad is u20.

Is McNulty eligible? Back from injury to play? I honestly think they will make a Connacht final if all available"
Unfortunately Barry McNulty is over age this year

And just how did that go? And how has it went since?

Very Poor same routine every time, signalled with one arm in the air for one kickout then with two arms in the air for the next one and the result was the same - kicked down the middle, and unable to win the breaks, this led to quite a few Offaly scores. Unsure why we are importing lads from other counties to play for us.. no one gives away a good dog.

The lad that always has a slabber but never an answer. And by the way many of us are GAA fans as well as being fans of our own counties. We are interested in what goes on in other counties and always wish well for the smaller counties like our own but don't care to hear empty cans making so much noise.

Galway v Mayo will be expected U20 final this year. That pairing was the All Ireland U17 final three years ago.

Best of luck to St Clare's Manorhamilton in the Masita GAA Post Primary Schools Dr. Eamonn O Sullivan Cup Senior C Football final on Saturday in Tuam. A very well-drilled team under the guidance of Shane Ward with a very talented group of hard-working players

Leitrim could do with more Shane's at coaching level all over the county. Hopefully he might get back on the county scene soon in some guise.

We are very lucky to have him involved at school level. A level that is so important in the development of intercounty footballers and an area where we have been atrocious for as long as I can remember. Good luck to all involved.

Replying To LongBall94:  "In relation to the U20s team (who we are all now pinning our hopes on as the Senior team is so out of it's depth for a variety of reasons) Does anyone know the panel for Barry McWeeneys men this year?

It can be tricky with Leaving Cert Students etc to get full commitment at this age group.

Off the top of my head (and missing one corner back position) I would guess our team could look like this. But I'm definitely forgetting a few names.

That being said this is an extremely strong team with a lot of them having been stand out performers in our club game in 2024, along with last years U20 experience, then with our school teams this year - they are all very positive experiences for any young team so it should leave them in good stead.
Who else am I forgetting here? O'Rourke, McBrien, Lowe etc would all be good impact subs.
Are the young Gardiner lads from St Marys eligible?

Brian Cull

Oran Foley Eanna McNamara

Jack Rowley? Jack Foley Colm McLoughlin

Ben Guckian
Bailey McBride

Gavin Gallagher Darren Cox Tom Plunkett
Brian Keaney Paul Honeyman Jack Kelly"
Farcical that there's no Master Fixture plan and down right embarrassing that the website isn't even updated to show the tables for this year etc.

This was probably a very good attempt at naming the U20 team above i'd expect that to be the majority of the team with 2/3 changes.

We played and competed well against Donegal the other evening.

In a surprise to noone with an understanding of Leitrim football and the pressure and load being placed on the our young players on the senior team Ben Guckian picked up a hamstring injury in the first half - Barry McWeeney must be pulling his hair out.
Few other players will be doubtful for round one as well but we still have a really decent team.

Due out next week, has to be adopted by clubs at a Co. Board meeting next week.

In recent years league tables for competitions haven't appeared on the website until the first round of said competition has been played, might be a website plugin issue as opposed to a deliberate or otherwise information vaccum by the Co. Board.

Congrats to St Clare's manorhamilton on their all Ireland schools title today. They displayed a fantastic skill set and ability in the ball and played some fantastic football.

I believe Leitrim have the best footballer in Connacht for his age group (if not the country) in Barry McNulty, and we must also have the same in Jack Kelly. He was a joy to watch.

What a huge boost to Leitrim under age football. A long overdue and well deserved all Ireland title. Congrats to all
