Replying To Keephimthere:  "Andy said to be being lined up to come here, which I disagree with. He did all that could be expected of him in getting promotion and a few TC wins, but history shows that overall counties are far better off with a homegrown manager. Best of luck in the hunt for a replacement."
Come here where is the here? only maybe Kildare might snap him up if caught up in the media hype but Kildare have surely some local to step in. Bringing in Mickey Graham improved Leitrim this year and is the obvious next Leitrim manager now if he accepts the job.

Andy did well for Leitrim, promotion and all. NY were good last year at home so I wouldn't blame Andy, he owes ye nothing.
I think there might be somebody whispering in his ear about a Mayo job. He has the right stuff.

Andy is leaving you in a much better place than he found you. That's positive and that's progress.. What will the next man have to do to equal that

We were the guinea pigs that launched his career in coaching inter County. Has it worked out? An embarrassing defeat to NY will be the legacy I'm afraid whereas had he stayed and kept us in div 3 next year that might have been slightly forgotten about.
We were utterly septic against a poor enough Sligo side in c'ship this year too after two close games last year. That isn't progress

Wouldn't have come cheap if they agreed on that either. Last year without Mickey Graham with a stronger panel that including Keith Beirne they finished 5th in Div 4, lost to New York in Connacht and lost all group game in the Tailteann cup.

I think history will judge him well. For those who disagree, what were you hoping he would achieve apart from promotion. He was right IMO to treat the NY game as blow out for the lads, when there was zero chance of winning against any Connacht team. It will be a great achievement for the replacement if league status can be retained in 2025. Of course the return on Bernie, if it were to happen, would be a game changer . Surely Mulligan will be in line for a selector at the very least.

Summed it up in one. The fact that Andy is being mentioned for another job in inter county football tells you all you need to know about the media in this country. I had him sussed from day 1 and got absolutely slated for it. Andy is very media friendly and let's be honest, there's been very little scrutiny of his time with us. We may forget about going anywhere until we get the underage structures in Leitrim sorted. The money spent on the 'long term project' has been thrown down the drain. Back to the drawing board lads.

He didn't treat the NY game as a blowout. He was distraught after it. We just missed umpteen goal chances as well as not having the 2 best forwards we have available that day. Did well to eventually get us promoted.

Interesting Andy stepping away after 3 years when he indicated he wanted another 3. Obviously a ready made replacement in Graham, however I hope the county board have an open mind and talk to the players first to see if he is the right man to take us forward. The CB are lucky that Graham has been involved a year now so the players can have a say on what they think of him. If for any reason the players won't buy into his methods then the CB have a tough task to attract a high calibre manager to the job. Unfortunately Intercounty football and high achieving clubs has became a gravy train for managers albeit with good CVS and experience. Leitrim need another high class manager to keep us in Div 3 and hopefully in 2 or 3 years time have us on the upper end trying to get promoted to Div 2. That has to be the goal.

I could throw out 10-15 names who would be really good I believe you'd prob need a loan from the bank to get them on board unfortunately.

Graham may well be the ideal replacement and has really impressed the players over the last year which would be a win win for everyone involved.

Sad news on the passing of John O Mahoney a gentleman who instilled badly needed belief into Leitrim players. While he was working with a fantastic group. I am not sure anyone else could have got us over the line. RIP Jonno.

We thought those days would never end, alas they were gone too soon.

What a great man he was.

Andy seems to be a man that knows the pr machine better than most. I would be very surprised if he went Longford as it wouldn't do much for his brand. (I am not using that as a negative thing)

True words

We should acknowledge what Andy did in Leitrim ,particularly changing the culture and bringing in new players.

Everyone that I have spoken to is full of praise for what he has been doing.

He also led fundraising for the county and got expats involved.

He also brought in an excellent manager in Mickey Graham and there is a good team in place.

I don't see it happening myself. Why would you go from a div 3 to a div 4 team, although it can be argued Longford has a far more competitive club scene than us and obviously very good lads coming up through underage.
