I'm not even sure the county board 100% know the rule. We enquired about some players eligibility to play second team and we got a variety of different answers from the CB. I believe last year the rule was if you play 1/4 final first team you cant play second. This year they changed it to 1/4 final and relegation means you cant play seconds. It's first 18 on the first round and every other player (including the first 18) that plays knockout cant play seconds. last year I believe Gortletteragh had a huge amount of injuries and lads away for first round of senior champo coupled with the fact they lost no players besides the first 18 on the first round as they didn't reach 1/4 final, meant they probably had a Junior B team strong enough to reach a intermediate semi final.

Impressed with annaduffs defensive set up on Sunday and with a bench with attacking talent behind the starting 15 they'll be a threat in years to come in my opinion Leitrimlad123 (Leitrim) - Posts: 8 - 19/10/2023 16:42:47 2509288 Link 0 |
In relation to the Ryan Donohoe eligibility thing, am I right in saying his Uncle is Pat Donohoe from Drumreilly midfield partner of Mickey Quinn in 94? If he's living in Ballinamore how did he end up playing for Gowna? I believe his father Garry played for Gowna but what other connections have they with the area? Anyone have any managerial recommendations? Any good lads from within the county? Leitrimforliam (Leitrim) - Posts: 326 - 20/10/2023 12:23:00 2509419 Link 0 |
Annaduff shouldn't have any bother staying senior for the next few years and there's a rich vein of underage talent coming through.

Well done on the sponsorship coup. This must put Leitrim in the top 5 or 6 in the country in available resources. Well done to the County board and to Mr Gallagher. Hopefully it will result in a rise in fortunes on the field. https://www.leitrimgaa.ie/2023/10/2024-leitrim-gaa-senior-football-team-sponsor-announcement/ Keephimthere (Roscommon) - Posts: 106 - 20/10/2023 14:26:17 2509463 Link 1 |

To answer my own question: yes, according to this week's Observer. Great to see them giving Europe a crack and test themselves against what's out there, and they'll have it again if they can outlast other first teams again in the future.

Good connaught draw for Leitrim will they rise to it or fall apart ? Big money being spent on management results are expected. Terrysarmy (Leitrim) - Posts: 5 - 22/10/2023 04:01:45 2509612 Link 1 |
Next year will be much the same as this, we are just not a serious football county. Better off investing those resources into underage up to u20 and maybe in 4/5 years we will have a competitive team

I've been told by a very reliable source that it looks like Andy Moran will be over the u20s this year. The Seniors and a group of the u20 panelists from last year are back in the gym since last Friday. Leitrimforliam (Leitrim) - Posts: 326 - 23/10/2023 08:55:31 2509717 Link 0 |

Listening to rumours from reliable sources is the greatest curse that this country has. So after Christmas when preparation steps up for both the seniors and the U.20 you are saying that Andy will be over both groups. Both teams will be playing most weekends for Feb and March. !!!!!

Lots of good managers in Leitrim. Martin McGowan, Padraig McGourty, Mal Guckin, Enda Lyons, a few that spring to mind. Champotime18 (Leitrim) - Posts: 442 - 23/10/2023 15:59:03 2509904 Link 0 |
Martin Dolan had some success with St Joseph's ladies and did decent job with Kiltubrid

This is coming from a player who was at the session on Friday night that I spoke directly with. Possibly this scenario could change come spring and one of the selectors will take the u20s. But as it stands now Moran is over the u20's and they are training collectively with the seniors. I am aware though that no panel has been picked for u20 and only certain players have been called in as of yet.
