Replying To Belclare7:  "Mayo will do well to beat Derry...
They always struggle against blanket defence.
Dublin let the off one on one yesterday and they got lucky...
Mc Hale Park as well...
Derry will fancy that"
They have gone from blanket defence to no defence. If they keep playing the kamikaze style they have been, ROD and AOS will have a field day. Mayo will win, it's the following weekend that will test them against a fresh Donegal, Kerry or Armagh

Replying To MachaireConnacht:  "We really need to change the mentality in Roscommon, we put up too many mental barriers. This is a great chance for us to beat a team of substance outside of our own province in years. I'm not saying it won't be tough but Tyrone are currently not as good as Galway or Mayo. We need big support up there next weekend and hopefully the team can peak now."
I agree with you. Let Tyrone worry about Diarmuid, Daire and Enda etc who are all playing much better than when we played Tyrone in the league and who scored 2-11 between them (2-9 from play) at the weekend. I think we also had 10 scorers for the second match in a row which is always a good sign.
Cork were the best team for the first 40 minutes against Tyrone and a silly black card and conceding a soft goal changed the game. The bookies have Tyrone, Mayo, Galway and Cork all as strong favourites but I think that Roscommon and Louth have the potential to cause a surprise if things go well for them at the weekend.
Darragh Canavan practically won the league match on his own and will obviously need special attention. Interesting to see if Stack, Murray, or Higgins will get the job? However we need to get parity at midfield and shore up the center of our defence and stop runners coming through unhindered.
Hopefully the Roscommon supporters will travel in numbers to Omagh to support the team at the weekend. It is a long time to next February so why not keep the support going as we will be sitting on our ***** for long enough over the autumn/ winter.

Replying To Rossfan93:  "On the Cavan game, I think everyone knew it was probably going to be a shootout. However, conceding 1-20 is worrying, Cavan got through us with ease at time. Kicked some lovely scores but very little pressure applied and we seemed happy to just go tit for tat scorewise.

Good to see Enda back playing well - Diarmuid and Daire Cregg kicking scores for fun is what we need too. I think Ultan Harney is wasted inside , we need him out the field. Ciarain Lennon was excellent when he came on also.

Tyrone is going to be a tough test - Healy Park is a tricky venue for any team. Canavan really damaged us in the League game and needs to be really wrapped up if we have any chance - hard to know who to put on him. You can be sure that Tyrone will have a game plan to stop Diarmuid, Cregg and Smith and leave it up to the remaining players to try and produce. Kilpatrick suspended is a huge advantage for Roscommon.

Looking forward to the trip up North - it would be great to get another day out in Croke Park in 2 weeks. Too many years in a row now we have been in this position and not got over the line."
Canavan is surely a job for Stack, one of the best in the business at man marking on his day.

Stack is made for a battle with Canavan and I think he will relish it. When we played them in the league, we didn't have Stack, Dolan, Cunnane, Enda. Canavan was picked up by Higgins if I remember and then Luke Glennon who were both quite inexperienced! In Canavan and McCurry they have 2 of the best forwards in the game, McCurry is one of my favourite players to watch. But we have forwards to hurt them aswell. It's about whether we can shore up our defence enough to keep them out. The way Cavan got their scores was a real worry, little or no pressure on the ball. If we do tighten up and get it right I believe we can be right in the game going down the stretch and hope the lads can find the belief to get over the line. It's as tough a task as we could have got but that's what we deserve for our performances to date. What a result it would be IF we can pull it off! Il be there and I hope we bring a good crowd with us. Best of luck lads!

In one way this is the right draw for us. Would we really be ready an all-Ireland quarter final place on the back of beating Cavan and scraping past Louth? If we beat Tyrone we'll be deserved of our place and will be battle-hardened for another top team at the QF stage. If we're not ready, then so be it. We'll know next weekend. But really there is nothing to stop us going up there and turning that Tyrone team over, only our own mentality - that of the team and us the supporters.

And while Tyrone are a very good side they are still a team finding their feet. In one way we are coming into this game in a better position than the Cork game last year. We are due a big performance this year. Last year we had already peaked.

Stack was excellent against Mayo a few weeks ago and I think he would be the best man for that marking job. Morgan is also one of Tyrones most influential players. Can management find a way to unsettle him.

Agree with all the above.
