So we have a St Dominics v Eire Og final.

Dominics into the final expected but it wasn't until the 2nd half from a converted penalty did they show that they are the better team. Once Niall Kilroy was locked down by McCormack they really struggled to break down a well organised Dominics defence not having Oisín Lyons didn't help their cause. Keith Doyle especially when moving into midfield, Keenan, Lohan and Donnelly among the stand outs for the winners.

Other semi final it wasn't expected that Eire Og would be reaching the final but fair play to them they have taken their opportunity. They remind me of Faithleachs last year how they grid out results but will Dominics be a bridge too far for them? Conor Cox was superb for them, back in defence winning turn overs, setting up scores and scoring 0-6 himself.

Wonder did we even approach Ray Dempsey. Big coup for limerick.

Brigids and Gaels tomorrow. If both win could set up a very good final. Gaels have great momentum.

The competitive nature of our club senior championship seen again today. Roscommon Gaels good enough to beat the defending Connacht and county champions Pearses but today taken out by Strokestown.

Strokestown adjusted to the awful weather conditions better with impressive 1st half display and deserved to be further in front than 2 points. A fine goal by Colm Neary.

2nd half opening ten mins it was all Roscommon Gaels 0-9 to 1-5 in front then out of nothing a 2nd goal for Strokestown, only James Fetherstone knows what he was at and why he didn't clear the ball twice. Paddy Brogan with some finish to find the net.

After that score Strokestown with a team with loads of county experience closed the game out well and kept the Roscommon Gaels best forwards totally out of the game.

Brilliant win for Strokestown... Ros Gaels brought back down to reality, thought all they had to do was turn up.

Outstanding stuff from Boyle their long wait for county senior final is over and did it the hard way today against a good Brigids outfit. 2 points down at half time and in the final 10 mins of action outscored brigids 5-0. Donie Smith,McKeon and D Smith really stepping up for them.

Real novel final pairing with Strokestown v Boyle who would have guessed that? good for Roscommon club football i'd say.

Boyle v Strokestown Final. Both underdogs prevailing in the wind and rain. First all northern Final in 13 years. First Senior Final for Boyle in 95 years. Boyle's County players stood up down the home stretch. The Smiths and Cian McKeon excellent. Brigid's will be back with plenty of young talent coming through. He was on the losing team today but Ben O'Carroll is pure class.

Unbelievable, who'd have predicted no south Roscommon in the final at the start of the championship.

Great to see two new teams in the Final.
Should be a great occasion and a bigger crowd than usual.

Was in county for the weekend and took in all 4 semis at weekend in Hyde Park. The pitch is a credit to the county board given the conditions all day yesterday which were awful for football.

Saturday in contrast was a lovely day for a match and Dominics were just slightly the better team than Feurty once they got their noses in front and kept them at bay comfortably enough. Oisin Lyons was a huge loss for Feurty but that's why it's a squad game. Dominics seem to be more balanced this year or maybe its a case the intermediate championship is not as strong with both Iran amd Faithleachs gone out of it in previous years and both staying senior.

Other semi I would have thought Croans on a big pitch would win it with a bit to spare but not the case and despite some covid issues in loughlynn they were full value for same. Conor Cox at this level is a handful and will take watching in final. Croans will be extremely disappointed they didn't force extra time at least. Doms by about 5pts in final but if its a wet squawly day don't rule out a draw.

Yesterday was just an awful day and credit to the 4 teams for giving us some decent football at times. For the most part it was very difficult amd the breeze was swirling and changing direction from time to time. Gaels believed their own hype and were very disappointing and a lot of their big names failed to deliver. A bad result for their management team also who appeared to have no game plan persisting with running the ball at every opportunity. Strokestown on the other hand mixed it up magnificently throughout the hour and if anyone was in any doubt what Cathal Compton can offer Roscommon then it was plain to see yesterday. He was the best player on display over the weekend by a country mile amd was prominent throughout the match. Well supported by McGann, two Nearys, Lavin and McGinley. I thought Paddy Brogan was fortunate to stay on pitch he has made about 6 or 7 fouls and was booked.

The second game Boyle looked beaten for msit of it until.the latter stages. The two penalties were the difference. First one kept Boyle in the gane amd defender pulled Daire Cregg when he appeared to have lost his chance. Well taken pen and it gave Boyle a lifeline. Brids were the better team for about 50 mins but they don't seem to know their best 15 all year and it came back to haunt them yesterday. The over turning of the penalty decision was the game changer. Why it was was over turned is a mystery is anyone's guess and an umpire cannot call a technical foul. Ref called it and looked the correct call. It could be argued the shot was already over the line as well. A goal at that stage would probably have seen Bridgids go on and win.

Boyle to their credit hit a purple patch led by Enda Smith and Donie who were in and out of the game yesterday. McKeon again their main man and is a fine footballer. Daire Cregg well marshalled or most parts yesterday until latter stages and gave away an awful ball that could have been costly. Over the past two weekends he has been tightly marked and I hope people give him time and patience to develop. Still a long way off county senior level.

Bridguds will be sick and it goes to show the major impact on games some refs decisions are having. I hope an experienced ref is appointed for final as it is a welcome unique pairing and hopefully a big crowd will be in the Hyde for it. Truth be told aside from the pitch there is no reason for tye Hyde to have any match. There are better club grounds in terms of atmosphere and facilities. Hyde is like going to a morgue tonwatch a match.

Great second half performance from Boyle yesterday . Horrible conditions for both games. I'd expect a massive turn out for the final in two weeks time. On the county manager job I'd say we will know this week or will it be next week. Fergal O'Donnell was the name on everyones lips yesterday at the game and all week people are saying around Boyle that it looks like he's the man. I just don't know if all that is true I'd nearly bet it's not true but he must be one of the names being interviewed?

Don't know if he was avoiding the speculation and staying away from the games but FOD was certainly not in the Hyde yesterday. I'm sure he knows the quality of players involved and maybe had people watching for him but I would have thought any new manager would be having a look at players involved in championship semi finals.

Two interesting games yesterday. Thought Strokestown were full value for their win - should have been more ahead at HT against the wind and their big players stood up when it mattered. Cathal Compton was exceptional and I hope he will be involved with Roscommon next year. As other posters have said it seems like Ros Gaels thought they only had to show up and win. They're never going to get a better chance to end their duck and you feel time is running out for this team now. Their lack of scoring forwards has always been a problem and I don't think any of them scored from play yesterday bar Richard Hughes who was playing in a deep role. McGann the best forward on show between the sides.

Boyle and Brigids I thought was a higher quality game and Brigids will feel in a way they should have won it but ultimately didn't do enough. Ben O'Carroll was exceptional and kicked some super scores. Boyle defended better in the second half but that penalty decision was a game changer and I can't understand how it wasn't given. Boyles big players stood up in the last 10 and kicked them to victory and you would have to have them as favourites now.

Strokestown will feel they can match up well on Boyles forwards with the likes of Mullooly, the 2 Nearys back there so it will make for an intriguing final.

Odd to see St Brigids lead a match 5-0 and then get outscored 1-12 to 0-7 for the rest of it. Perhaps the young Brigids lads got a lesson and the Boyle came of age.

Did Roscommon Gaels let complacency get the better of them? Knocked out the Connacht champions by a bit to spare and thought they should ease past Strokestown?

How many of the Strokestown, Boyle players do posters here reckon will be starting or be used as impact subs for Roscommon in Div 1 next spring?

Would be like the appointment Roscommon would make it they were a Div 3 and probably where they are heading if appointed.

His time with Westmeath was known for throwing the players under the bus.

At this stage it would be great to get anyone at all. Nobody must want the job which is strange. Maybe its because fans expectations are so high and completely unrealistic.
