Replying To rossy15:  "Winning a Connacht title or two is great getting hammered in a qtr final or super eights takes the gloss off the lot of it - we need to be competitive with top teams outside of Connacht and win a game in croke park that is all - not an odd remark at all !
Now Good luck to all involved tomorrow -"
those Connacht titles was senior success against strong opposition in Mayo and Galway and playing in Div 1 all equals translation from underage success regardless of what happened in the All Ireland series. To say anything different is an odd remark to make especially from a Roscommon supporter who for years watched their team with no underage success from that the senior footballers spend the best part of decade in Div 3.

Replying To The_analyser:  "Yes top 8 yes and I'd rank us 7th or 8th at best. Hence why we have struggled in the super 8s and if not on our game can get beaten by 12 top team like Clare. I don't believe I missed any point, Your point on purpose or not was to belittle was we have achieved at senior thanks mostly to the good work firstly done at underage. Underage success here and there is still important and we got that recently with good minor teams in 2020/21 and U21s 2021 and it will be important to pick up another few Connacht underage titles in the next 5 years if we are to maintain our current senior status in both the league and championship."
My point was not to belittle anyone
Seems no one is entitled to an opinion on this page but yourself so work away

Yes, the covered stand is reserved - should be a seat number on your ticket. Sideline seating isn't.

Best of luck to the lads today.
No backward steps and hopefully a victory and (another) trip to Castlebar to look forward to .

Among that post of was belittling. You like anyone else is well entitled to an opinion but don't be so delicate if its challenged.

Best of luck to Roscommon this afternoon.

Replying To endgame:  "I find it surprising that our minor team for the first two matches against Mayo and Galway didn't have a St. Brigid's player on the team or even on the panel of 26. I'd have thought that Brigid's have the best underage structures in Roscommon and that the club would be supplying a number of players to the county minor team. I see that over on the Leitrim page, they think that Roscommon minors are poor this year and expect Leitrim who drew with Sligo to win on their visit to The Hyde."
Not anymore with st brigids last for the good teams for a while have progressed to u20. They have taken quite a fall back over the last few years. Most of their better underage players are playing intimidate and junior football with the club and the lads eligible to play u17 for county simply aren't good enough for the panel

Well that was terribly frustrating but a great lesson in championship football. First half I thought someone had brought me back in time to the league. Really slow ponderous stuff, then give away possession with some woeful decision making and down 5 points at half time. Second half upped the intensity but a few errors again. Left at least one goal chance behind and sleeping for the rebound for Comers goal. Thought Carrolls kick outs were excellent and both keepers did well. We were good at midfield again. There are a couple of players falling asleep at crucial times which we then get punished for. Brian Stack very good again. Team has plenty to learn from and put it right up to them until the end.

Same old story regarding consistency of players. We needed key players again to perform like against mayo. 7/8 minutes of playing high tempo and we had it back to a draw game but then failed to kick on. Very disappointing

Is there anything in the round robin rules to prevent Ross meeting Galway in the first round?

Frustrating and annoying loss whereby the match was basically lost with a very sluggish 1st half performance where we were 4 points behind lucky it wasn't 8 with the two Galway goal chances from our errors (they still got points from those chances)

Opening 15 minutes of the 2nd half we played to our capabilities, led 6 minutes into it 1-6 to 0-8 and the opportunity was there to win the match then but goal chances that came our way wasn't taken including a unfortunate Slip by Cox then moment later the Galway goal came, a point effort coming off the post into the grateful arms of Comer swung all the momentum back into Galway's favour and allowed then to go on and win.

Among the best for us today i thought was Stack,McCormack,Ruane and superb C Murtagh, Mckeon impressive when brought on also but not getting D Murtagh,D Smith,E Smith into game meant our chances of winning was slim also not doing a good marking job on Comer proved fatal.

So it's a 4 to 5 week break now. Down to the luck of the draw what type of group we'll get. Hopefully we can make the last 8 and be competitive in that match. All the best to Galway in the final best team on the day and deserved their win.

Was there a touch of the panic too much with 5 mins or so left? Thought we went trying to work a goal a few times when points could have been taken, lost the ball and killed the confidence. Then Galway got their clincher.

Absolutely agree on the performances. Ruane I thought put in a great shift.

Why wasn't Conor Daly marking Comer in the second half. Davy Murray has been brilliant this year but it was a physical mis match.

consistency seems to be an issue alright. Then again how often does Comer and Walsh play well in the same game. Last years AI semi Comer good Walsh off colour it was the opposite for AI final. Of Course Roscommon needed more out of the Smith brothers and Diarmuid Murtagh today in order to win the latter have injury coming into this game? he wasn't moving right. Not just level but 1 point in front but the 2nd half score was 1-6 each so that match won and lost probably in the 1st half.

Good question and don't think there is. I'd actually like to be in the same group as them.

I think it's only provincial finalists that can't be drawn again in the same groups.

We started to slow again yesterday and only really went for the game for 15 mins in second half and then went back to holding the ball around the middle which doesn't work against a well organised defense. McKeon has to start instead of Lennon anymore. Also love to see cregg in full forward line where he was outstanding for Boyle last year. Defensively we have improved massively on last year but we have lost so much going forward. It's a balance burke has to get right and I think he will over the next couple of years.

There seemed to be slot of empty space in the stand when the terrace was full yesterday. Is there a reason for this?

Is that the left side of the stand if you're facing it from the pitch? That area was cordoned off for our league game there a few weeks ago. Think they were upgrading the seats?

Agreed we have lost something going forward but I can understand why he is shoring up defense first and probably trying to tweak forward play now. Our transition when we turn over teams or win ball seems to be far too slow. Multiple times yesterday when we won the ball yesterday that we allowed Galway loads of time to reset their defense. Don't know if that's down to a lack of movement up front or not enough bodies breaking forward or not breaking forward into the right areas.
