Hopefully, we can continue our discussions after the decision to close the Fermanagh forum and every other county forum. Itown1234 (Fermanagh) - Posts: 48 - 30/09/2021 14:15:57 2383743 Link 0 |

Why is it that our hurlers are more consistent and football teams are not? SkeaLad (Fermanagh) - Posts: 513 - 05/12/2021 16:05:12 2391742 Link 0 |
What way are the clubs fixed for management next year? wombat (Tyrone) - Posts: 26 - 07/12/2021 18:43:26 2392028 Link 0 |
Hi Wombatty, I see in t0ay's Fermanagh Herald some of those management positions stated as in bold as confirmed, not confirmed or vacant. Others you mentioned in italic fates are unknown. Derrygonnelly - Sean Flanagan, Mick McGlynn, Paul Greene Enniskillen - John Rehill is pretty clear he is staying on in the hot seat Kinawley - Ollie Fay has stepped down after 2 seasons and Dom Corrigan now takes over. That's brilliant news for the club to have their legend back! Belnaleck - Colm Bradley is mulling over whether or not to stay Ederney - Mickey Cassidy will remain at the helm Tempo - Jackson Irvinestown - Lawrence Largo-Ellis & Aiden Ormsby are likely to remain joint managers Teemore - Quartet managers Barry Owens, Sean Owens, Gerry Quinlin & Conor Doherty remain Devenish - Sid Mulrone, Barry Mulrone, Martin O'Brien Erne Gaels - Seamus Ryder Roslea - Peter McGinnity has decided to call it a day Belcoo - Shane McCabe Derrylin - Aidan Gilroy in a surprise move he has parted company with the club. He has also parted company with the County U17 /Minor team Donagh - Hasson Coa - Gary Donnelly has stepped down Aghadrumsee - Pat Cadden stepped down had stepped down from manager Brookborough - Stephen Donnelly will not be staying on as indicated earlier Lisnaskea - Peter Clarke has stepped down Newtownbutler - Maguiresbridge - Keith Reilly has departed the hot seat just after one season cillnaile. Why did the Derrylin chief depart so abruptly after a short stay and similarly the co minor ten to? Also Corrigan must think Kinawley has chance of getting their hands on the New York Cup. Wonders will never cease :) hillbilly. (Fermanagh) - Posts: 38 - 08/12/2021 13:33:03 2392090 Link 0 |
Hey Hillbilly what status is your Teemore senior team? Oh yes in div2 with no chance of getting their hands on the NY Cup for a long time and maybe never again. Your club is becoming more and more like Coa and B'boro i.e., going no where!

Can anyone remember such a huge turn over in managers at the end of a season?? KeshGFC (Fermanagh) - Posts: 339 - 10/12/2021 11:43:19 2392281 Link 0 |
Big appointment for Kinawley. Dom will only have went there if he feels they can win the championship. Some amount of managerial changes there! Will the confirmed men manage and train the teams or get someone else in to do the coaching? wombat (Tyrone) - Posts: 26 - 11/12/2021 14:20:32 2392394 Link 0 |
KeshGFC are you speaking from personal experience?? On a more positive note, it great to see Brian Armitage taking over as the chief of the County Board as Kelly's tenure has expired. In other news, Lissan, the 'white elephant', is set for multi-million pound development see picture at Upgrade and development is proposed to cost in the region of £2-3 million and will take place in four phases over the next five years. According to GaelicLife weekly, the development is subject to planning permission which will be sought in late January but if passed the plans would see the facility transformed into a complex which will include a 3000 sq ft gym, a dining space which would cater for 50 people, a meeting room which could hold 150 people, a covered stand and dugouts, parking facilities and floodlight facilities to enable games to be hosted at the venue. Phase 1 has already been completed with two grass pitches resurfaced which will be fully open next April and it is envisaged that Phase 2 will take place over the next two years. The main focus of this stage of development will be upgrading the floodlights to 500 lux at an approximate cost of £300k widening and upgrading the access road, building a new stand, fencing and dugouts and upgrading the car park and existing building. The projected cost for this phase will be £550k. Phase 3 will see the largest expenditure, an estimated £1.5 - £2million will be spent on a new pavilion and it is hoped that it will be completed by 2028. This will house the strength and conditioning hub, dining, meeting and changing facilities and office space. A total of four pitches is needed by Fermanagh GAA but only two can be housed at Lissan leaving a shortfall. In Phase 4, this means acquiring land elsewhere in the county with the Bawnacre-Necarne a potential site to build another two pitches. Pre-Covid, Fermanagh GAA had agreed a minimum of £1million funding from Croke Park and it's hoped that this can be secured within the next three years with other funding also being sought to help cover some of the projected costs. Club Éirne are also planning a major fundraising initiative. The design for the development is being drawn by Keys and Monaghan Architects in Irvinestown, they recently completed the Ederney and Roslea developments and the spectator stand at the Garvaghey centre. I forgot to include the link to see the redevelopment proposal for Lissan which is https://www.gaeliclife.com/counties/fermanagh/lissan-set-for-multi-million-pound-development/ AuldGussie (Fermanagh) - Posts: 96 - 17/12/2021 13:49:41 2393094 Link 0 |
This Lissan upgrade is a total waste of money. I've said it before and nothing has changed my mind. Stop before it's too late. IT'S IN THE WRONG PLACE. Now, apparently, two extra pitches are needed miles away from Lissan because there's not enough space for them on the hilltop. What other 'centre of excellence' is split into two locations. Think of this. if there's a training session and the Lissan pitches are in use, THE PARTICIPANTS HAVE TO GO THERE, GET CHANGED, DRIVE MILES AND MILES TO THE SECONDARY PITCHES, HAVE THEIR TRAINING SESSION AND DRIVE BACK TO LISSAN FOR THEIR SHOWER AND TEAM TALK. mad, mad mad.

I agree with ya for once … it's totally the wrong location up in lissan and if it is built the few mile of road off the Tempo road is totally unsuitable for the volume of traffic it will get at peek times .. and no lol I'm not speaking from experience for managerial turnover lol .. I haven't coached beyond underage club and I guess I'd be out of a coaching job only if I didn't volunteer again next year … I've been dropping of kids to the academies a few times and the traffic even for those events are a nightmare with the narrow roads … but here they ve already put the money in the pitches and will no doubt now double down .. my idea would be to make lissan the extra 2 pitches and stick the first 2 pitches and the new buildings more centrally … which let's face it is most other locations unless they are eyeing up Cooneen too lol

First game out of the new year, been a while, just great to have games on again. macca999 (Fermanagh) - Posts: 1145 - 09/01/2022 16:35:48 2394237 Link 0 |
My God Lazarus Raised from the Dead! I just thought it was too good to be true. More waffle for us to endure. As for today's game, there was nothing to impressive from the bunch younger recruits and the oldies were just so so. I know it is early days for the Donnelly management and when the Harps county contingent return, probably after the Ulster final, it will help management to put together the missing jigsaw pieces. I don't agree will Lazarus with his goalkeeping take but no one takes him serious anyway. Hoping to see our Ekn lads making a difference to the team this year. gaalltheway (Fermanagh) - Posts: 802 - 09/01/2022 17:17:37 2394247 Link 0 |
Ha still acting the comedian gaaalltheway I was trying to have some positivity with the new year but agree few bright lights but early days. Johnny Cassidy and Conor Love certainly will improve things from today. I think keeper very slow to get the kickouts going, while in the second half we couldn't buy ball from own kickout for 15 minutes, not solely GK responsibility but certainly a factor and will cost matches going forward if not sharper. macca999 (Fermanagh) - Posts: 1145 - 09/01/2022 17:51:11 2394250 Link 0 |
Some great young talent in Fermanagh at the minute, but hope this new management can develop them because the Monaghan young lads today look in serious condition but are no more talented than what Fermanagh have got . Just worried about midfield and no go to forward in the full forward line. Some real promising players just we hold possession to long and not direct enough. Antrim game in three weeks is a massive game this year and a must win. Also some of the enniskillen players look over rated to be honest. First of all to macca999 Look at yourself before trying to demean me in response to my earlier post. After a search I found this comment from you as a multi username poster and it clearly shows who is actually the comedian and it reads "I cannot access my own account at the moment but people will know me a macca999. I come on here to express my outrage. My hair may have fallen out, my teeth may have fallen out, I may at times fallen out with some arrogant Gaa supporters but this is by far the biggest fallout I have had and the damage is going to be huge to hoganstand in terms of viewership. You have now pulled the rug from not only our Fermanagh forum but nearly all of rural Ireland where many gas folk found it a useful channel to express their views on local football and at times criticise the gas is it was warranted...maybe that was one of the reasons that you now deny us if our voice? I not on the other stuff like Facebook nor am I twit if that the term for those social media crowd so I'm like thousands of others are going to lose out on discussing a sport that I have been so passionate about all my life. I hope your plan fails and the county forums returned immediately. GalloonBaffoon (Fermanagh) - Posts: 107 - 01/10/2021 16:04:59" As regards my "Lazarus has arisen from the dead" comment was in response to posts on some other thread where you let others believe you were no longer with us in this world - not exactly a very nice thing to do. Now to the Borderland post, a first time post, it would not surprise me if it was you at your multi posting as you take a direct swipe at the Ekn players. Then we have Kesh GFC, who could also be you as well, taking a swipe at the team and management but fails to tell us how he would resolve Fermanagh's problems - a typically fireside know-it-all observer just like macca. There ends my responses. Thank you Hoganstand for giving me the opportunity. gaalltheway (Fermanagh) - Posts: 802 - 10/01/2022 11:58:05 2394360 Link 0 |
here its just my job to point out what needs to be worked on and im sure when the management teams sit down and read the hoganstand thread this evening they will know what they should address first !!....oh and YES a typo ..i meant diff in S&C between THE teams ...not 3 teams lol If I had all the answers to those issues id get myself in to management something above the u13s lol KeshGFC (Fermanagh) - Posts: 339 - 10/01/2022 12:54:21 2394377 Link 1 |
