Diarmuid K & Sean Dunne not good enough to be in and around panel. I really hope Egan is there I rate him very highly and very young think about 21/22. Hoping McElhinechey from Tuam can get an inj free campaign and we see him get a chance in league.

Paddy Egan man of the match in 2 senior county finals already. If he is not developing into a county player there is something seriously wrong.

Hopefully he does but corofin have had a good few even part of the great team 15-20 who were unreal at club level but just not quite at intercounty level

Astonishing that through all of Corofin's prolific run of success 1991-current, they achieved it without producing a single top class intercounty forward in 35 years. Answers on a postcard, if I've omitted anyone?

It really highlights how well coached they were as a collective. They had a lot of forwards at a good level, capable of scoring heavy on occasion, as well as chipping in regularly.

I get what you are trying to say there. Though technically Ian Burke did win an All Star in 2018 which I imagine would satisfy a definition of a top class intercounty forward. Albeit he didn't do a whole pile for Galway outside that one season.

Our best player was Daithi Burke who would have been centre back for Galway footballers for a decade if he fancied it. Outside of that I was always disappointed Dylan Wall didn't make more of an impact with the county and thought he was a massive loss last year. Incredible player. crankyincorofin (Galway) - Posts: 124 - 14/01/2026 17:30:04 2651077 Link 1 |

Alan O'Donovan was the best club forward in Galway for a long time just never make a breakthrough at county.

A narrow late escape by University Galway this evening to avoid getting knocked out of the Sigerson by Sligo IT. Some horrid defending. galway19 (Galway) - Posts: 1034 - 14/01/2026 21:57:28 2651100 Link 0 |

As others said, Gary Sice was a highlight when Galway football was struggling. Ian Burke amazing in 2018 season big part of how we beat kerry that year & fantastic against the dubs. Daithi Burke always a quality player - Kevin Walsh asked him to play for footballers many times, and Mike Farragher was exceptional. Him & Dylan Wall are probably the two that could have made more impact in a county jersey - both plagued with injuries. From 1998 team think has to be said Michael Donnellan was top class. Not sure on the details of Gerry Burke's intercounty career but probably good things. Daithi's father btw. systematic (Galway) - Posts: 237 - 14/01/2026 22:51:49 2651106 Link 0 |
